The sausage house is one of the kind in Tampa Bay Area. Their specialty includes Hungarian, German and Polish sausage. Base on their introduction, I think they are Hungarian more. Their store is located in the Safety Harbor next to the park. The best seller is their specialty smoke sausage. It come with non spicy and spicy. We got a link. It was delicious. We also got blood tongue and head cheek slice ham. I recommend the spicy head cheek ham. We also got some veal loaf and special fried bacon. The cold cut we got good for champagne and wine. Ever since I tasted their sausages in a friend's Oktoberfest party, I have always wanted to visit this place. Finally, we made the trip. This is such a unique, one-of-a-kind shop. Owner was so friendly, he let us try a piece and then we decided how much to buy. We like spicy food. So, we got almost a pound of the spicy cold cut. And then we saw blood and tongue cold cut. That was the item we had when traveled in Germany and never saw anybody sell it here in Tampa Bay till this visit. I felt like finding a treasure. So we got some of them. The fry bacon was also good. Got a smoke spicy sausage and veal load. I kept the cool cut, sausage in the fridge as a late-night snack, or make them a sandwich. They were so delicious. They reminded me the good time when traveling Europe. I'm glad we can buy them in Safety Harbor instead of flying over the Atlantic Ocean. This shop is truly a hidden gem. read more

We struggle to find a decent Andouille around here. Getting the usual suspects from the grocery store is extremely average. We do a lot of Cajun cooking. Having the right Andouille is important for gumbo and jambalaya. I knew we had a sausage maker in town, actually only a 18 minute walk from my house. I stopped in to get some. The sausage they sell here is simply spicy sausage with 3 different heat levels. If you ask for Andouille , they may not understand. I chose the medium. Cooked a piece up to see how good it would be. We have a winner ! It will grease enough for the roux , the flavor is very good. It's not 100% what you'd get from New Orleans , but it's a million times better than your supermarket variety. read more

I stopped by today while in the neighborhood and I am glad I did. This is a small mom and pop style Hungarian butcher shop. It looks like they produce a majority of the meat products in house. They have a nice selection of fresh sausage, smoked sausage, liver sausage, lunch meats, and smoked pork. I tried a few of their fresh and smoked sausages and couldn't be happier. Local gem!! I wish I had found this German sausage house earlier...it appears to be family run with what I assume are recipes passed down from generation to generation. I took home each type of fresh sausage and all three were fantastic- the fried bacon stole the show though...it sells out fast, but I think you can cal and reserve it. Before you even enter this place you can smell the smokey goodness that awaits you inside and once inside you are greeted by some absolutely lovely ladies that can answer any question you might throw at them. They have a plethora of smoked meats from cold sausages to naw on while you are driving home to ones that you would want to grill like keilbasa which they have four different types, smoked, fresh and polish or Hungarian of those two. Got a few of each and although all were great the fresh was awesome. They also have a few specialty entrees, baked goods and canned goods. Inside, something that is familiar stared me back. Above my head, a television plays in foreign language broadcasting the unrest of Ukraine. Oh... another revolution in brewing. In front of me are homemade sausages, meat products in all color and shapes pile inside the only display cooler in this tiny shop. Behind the cooler, a young man with distinguish East European face greets me in English with a strong ascent. I really don't have a clue what to buy. I am alike a stranger stumbled into someones home looking for help. I stared at the meat and picked 'Frankfurter', 'Wurst' and 'Beef Bologna'. Those were the only words I recognized. The young man was very patient. He sliced a piece of Bologna for me to try. It is such a clean taste not like those I usually buy at supermarket that taste like something unnatural. The bologna from this tiny shop blessed with a familiar taste. I was sold. Meat was packed separately in white paper with price hand written on it. I paid $ 13.56 with credit card and stumbled out the shop. I left behind a strange impression I believe. I did look like I was lost. By now, you can guess what is on my dinner plate. What a gem in charming Safety Harbor! I've been several times now and have tried many of the items. We are lucky to have such an authentic sausage artist in Pinellas County. My favorite item, by far is the hungarian sausage. Ask for two links of Kolbas, non smoked, pan fry them with a little olive oil and a tablespoon of water for 15-18 minutes. No longer than 18 minutes! They may seem not all the way done as the appearance will kinda look that way, but trust me they're done. Now cut a slice and enjoy the juicy garlicky goodness, You can thank me later lol Why not 5 stars? The hours are well, let's just say "challenging" and I have had a couple of items that I did not enjoy. One is the bacon. I found it to be tough. The other is the frankfurters. The skin and texture are just not to my liking. Just my personal taste, as you can see I'm in the minority on the bacon thing! I'm trying new recipes and wanted some blood sausage, this was the first business to come up in my search. I was not disappointed. This is a quaint little store, you can tell the sausage is fresh, because you can see them making them. I was greeted when I first walked in and then was allowed some time to decide. I hate when the employees stare you down, i like to see all my options before I buy and I appreciated that I was given the time. They had the sausage I wanted and a few more that I will have to go back and try. I also got some Italian salami, which is excellent. Overall, I was really pleased with the shop. So I finally had the chance to try some fresh sausage from this shop. First Quality only scratches the surface when describing their meats. Exceptional Quality might have been more accurate. We sliced and cooked up a smoked Polish sausage with some onions and fresh mushrooms topped off with scrambled egg. Guess what the star of the dish was? The Sausage.
