Great and personalized service as you expect from someone who has been in the neighborhood for years and know where their products come from and quality meat. They have house made sausages, and a small selection of grocery such as cheese, beans, pasta... specializing in Greek products, as you may expect in Tarpon Springs. Even some basic produce like tomatoes and onions. They don't display everything in the case, so ask if you don't see what you are looking for. We recently found this local independent butcher in the local non-touristy downtown area of Tarpon Springs! Life is good with fun unique cuts of fresh beef from a local butcher! We get the Acropolis Special Steak! Highly recommended! Tender! Marbled! Perfect! A nice lady customer at the store recommended it to us! Thanks! I just recommended it to a couple I met at the store! Preparation... coarse salt, lots of fresh cracked black pepper and tons of Lebanese spice mix. 3 minutes per side in a lightly oiled medium high heat preheated cast iron skilled. Bam! I have stopped into Acropolis Meats several times when coming home from Fred Howard with my Service Dog, Kodiak. I am always met with a welcoming smile. We LOVE this place! It is truly a gem. The owner even takes care of my Service Dog ‍ You MUST try the chimichurri kebabs. They are packed with flavor and made with choice cut sirloin-- super tender! I love this little meat market. It was recommended to me by a local in the area so I knew it was going to be enjoyable. It's small, packed full of Greek specialities likes teas, cheeses, noodles and of course meat. There is a secret cut of meat (I'm going to keep this one to myself) but if you can find out what it is, get it! So tender and reasonably priced. Selections are limited so get there early. If he runs out, he runs out. The butcher is no non sense but full of life and vigor. I love walking in the door and being greeted by him. Went on an early morning quest for "Pork Belly"! I'd checked my local grocery chains, the big boxes with no luck or a sub prime product. Thinking I'd have to source this ingredient from far away specialty market, I started asking around. I was been told my local Greek market literally around the corner from home had exactly what I needed. I was greeted by the sweetest little Greek lady wielding a large butcher knife and an even bigger smile. The store had glass cases packed with tons of chicken, pork, beef, goat, cheeses. Shelves were full of imported pastas, olives, and dried spices. We talked about my BBQ project. She told me my method was almost the same as her fathers back in Greece. She cut and trimmed me a piece to order. I added a bulk pack of whole wheat barley and yellow lentils to my order and checked out. Don't expect isles of products and sophisticated check out system, it's a "local market ". With out question I was surprised with the selections of meats, cheeses and spices. Not only does the meat have the most delicious flavor over Publix meat but it is 1/2 the price that you'd pay!! The Filet was $5.95 so I bought a 5 lb Tenderloin cut it into steaks when I got hone. They were the best flavor that we've had in years. Better than Berns Steak house ir Ruth Chris! They rack of ribs, unbelievable delicious too! You must go! I have lived in Tarpon almost three years now , i always pass Acropolis Meats and just never made the time to stop in . Finally stopped in , HUGE selection , they slice their meats with perfection so nice and thin , i for sure will now only purchase my deli meat there . They also have a great selection of Meats , and packages that you can purchase them in . I so much would rather support a local business then continue to get my meats at chain stores! read more

When we moved to this area I was trying to find the same cuts of meat we were used to. I found them here. Even if they didn't have them they would ask what cut and to my surprise go into the back and cut it for me! They have an overwhelming variety of foods for you to make the best meals for your family. Everything from pre-made meals to specialty cuts. Be sure to take a ticket as you walk in the door because it can be very busy or get that way fast! My turkey this year was the best. It stayed moist for days after made. They also offer packages of different meats at a reduced price. They offer different types of dry goods and baked goods. Totally love this place! I make a special trip from the Hudson Beach area every couple of weeks. The quality of everything is fantastic and the prices are reasonable too. This weekend I picked up lamb and beef kabobs which were absolutely delicious! Also picked up scallops which were probably the best that I've had in a very long time. Tzatziki sauce is homemade, great variety of olives and feta cheese. Everything I've ever purchased has been above expectations. You just can't go wrong shopping at this little gem! read more

I do not recommend this place for anything. We bought garlic that was so old that it was powder inside and chicken cordon bleu that we needed to toss out because the breading was off. We should have known something was up when we bought food from a meat market that was frozen but we wanted to support the small business. That was a $20 mistake I won't repeat. read more

We've been picking up steaks here for years. Came in on New year's eve and picked up 4 bacon wrapped filet mignon. Went straight home and put them in the fridge until we were ready to start dinner. Amazing old school butcher shop. Prices are great and they carry a great selection of meats, deli items and Greek imports. Meats were fresh and the deli cheeses are awesome. They make their own Greek and Italian sausages in house and the lamb sausage was one of the best I've ever had. Owner is super helpful and occasionally jokes around with the customers like a true neighborhood shop. I walked in the store about 4 yrs ago, and have never had to look anywhere else for good meat. From lunch meet to the Teddy Special it's all good, custom order steaks anytime you want, cut the way you want. Pork chops, chicken breasts, steak ka-bobs, pork and chicken too, everything you could want. Everything is good, and alot cheaper than Publix, Win Dixie, or Meatbay as they call it. I walked in here since I was antique shopping nearby, and already had a parking spot right out front. Definitely a family type business, they were chatting with customers they knew when I walked in. I was so surprised their prices were much cheaper than Publix or Walmart, and they had great specials too. I ended up getting 4 new york sirloins (2 lbs total) for $10.98 on special; they were amazingly good. Juicy and tender, wow. Exceeded my expectations for sure. These guys have a great selection of fresh meat. The Teddy Special will melt in your mouth every time! I've never had even a tiny bit of gristle on any of their Teddy Special steaks. I dunno what they do to keep them so tender, but whatever it is, it works! read more

So I called my local butcher shop of which I have been a customer of in times past... And I will add here... Never again... To see if they could cut the spine out of my turkey. I will be spatchcocking my turkey this year. The butcher straight out says where did you buy the turkey I told him Publix he says will then take it to Publix. He says I'm not going to break my equipment on a turkey you didn't by here. I asked if I could pay for the service. He says how much are you going to pay me I said how much would you charge he says the point is is take it to where you bought it from your not a customer of mine. I don't think it was so much that what he was saying is unreasonable. His attitude and how he said it was very offputting and extremely rude. He could have just said no I'm sorry we're not able to do that. But instead he just straight-out tells me where to take it and why he's not going to do it. Rude. LIke I said I used to be a customer of his but not anymore. They may want to reconsider who they have working the front of the store. Because their customer service skills are seriously lacking. I wish they had negative Stars. But I'm forced to choose at least a one-star rating. read more

Terrible experiences. Have twice found ribeyes and t-bones to be tough. So I don't buy steaks there any more. The final straw was the lamb, that I called in advance to order. Paid for it and when I got home I weighed it and it weighed 20 percent less! If I'm hosting friends and I ask for a specific size I expect to get just that. Be forewarned. read more

He was very sarcastic and reacted to my questions about their product with force and frustration. Probably because he wasn't very knowledgeable. This shop has chicken and beef & pork kebobs that are to die for! Meats are delicious - steaks, pork ribs, ground chuck and sirloin! Also have a variety of frozen chicken entrees like Chicken Florentine and Chicken Cordon Bleu. A family shop, the owner is funny and very knowledgeable.
