This butcher shop is amazing! The customer service is top-notch. They even personally cut a porterhouse steak to my exact specifications. The meat was flavorful, tender, and absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back! read more

They have good prices for chicken breasts. Their cuts are good quality, the only thing we don't like is their marinades, they aren't to our taste preference. But the service is good and you get a good bang for your buck. read more

Great service and amazing cuts of meat. Bought a brisket and had it trimmed. Definitely my "go-to" for brisket, but their overall selection is top notch as well. read more

Southern Steer Butcher Clearwater - Smoked Brisket - Butcher Near Me - Clearwater, Florida

THIS PLACE IS THE BOMB!! I cannot--will not-- eat supermarket meats while in Florida. Southern Steer is my go-to for fresh beef, pork and chicken. MARINADES ARE FANTASTIC! Duroc pork chops.... best ever! Ribeyes off the chart tender and delicious. Well worth the price for the best.....and don't complain about spending an extra few dollars.... or just keep buying P....X crap and get what you DIDNT pay for read more

Had friends who were regulars and recommended this place. We went probably 2-3x. The employees were nice but we weren't impressed with the seasoned/marinated meats. Tasted like the usual we could make at home ourselves. Never returned after several attempts to see the appeal. read more

I had great fun and even better dinners after shopping here for the first time! Everyone who helped me was friendly and full of good advice. They even got me a steak from the back since what we wanted wasn't in the display case meaning they had sold many steaks! Sea salt, fresh cracked black pepper, garlic and a little avocado oil in our well seasoned cast iron pan. Bam! 3 minutes a side on medium high, rest for 5 or 10 minutes, and a perfect crusty, seasoned medium rare was the result! Hungry yet!? Easy peasy! Super delicious and enough for several meals and a lunch sandwich for me! This was with the very affordable wagyu sirloin and not with a fancy, huge porterhouse or NY strip that I might typically purchase from a butcher! I shopped right before closing on a Sunday but there were several customers and we had no issues! I can't say I'm an expert but I know what I like. Life is good with wonderful steak! read more

Terrific. Great service. Great selection. Good prices. They did what they said they would.

For the last month and a half we've purchased all our protein and many sides from Southern Steer. I hate that it took the pandemic for me to find them but I solemnly swear I'll never buy meat anywhere else again. They have great tasting products for great prices and have daily specials! We've tried it all from the marinated steaks to the chicken breasts/thighs, the sausage, ground beef and chicken wings. They have great deals daily and really awesome value combos. This week we opted for their special five meal deal. Five meals for $99 - Bacon Cheddar Burgers, Argentine Chicken Tacos, Ginger Teriyaki Pork Chops, Butter Garlic Marinara Chicken and House Fusion BBQ Sloppy Joe's (the items change weekly). Daily specials can be found here - https://southernsteer.com/daily-specials/ We've also tried a few of the sides and really enjoyed them - the twice baked potatoes are our favorite. Smashed taters are delish as well! In addition to having everything your local butcher should, they also cater, have deli sandwiches and paninis, some specialty shop items for sale and they even teach prep classes where you are guided through recipes and given the ingredients needed for 10 family sized meals. Each meal is individually bagged and labeled with cooking instructions! I can't wait to take a class once quarantine is over! read more

On a whim, we opted to go to the butchery and pick up steaks to grill for the evening meal. While we were there, we looked at all the fresh meats they had ready, including the seasoned breasts of chicken, the sausages and the kebabs. Everything looked so tasty. We opted to pick up 2 steaks and 3 breasts of chicken, two cajun and one garlic. On the grill these thick breasts turned out delicious as did the two steaks. We were really happy with our purchases. The store carries more than just meat though. There is honey, there are specialty items and so much more. Treat yourself by stopping in, you'll be happy you did. read more

Love the selection of meats and the people working there are fantastic!!! Glad we are back in the area to enjoy

Tried to charge me 24.99 a pound for ground sirloin. Ridiculous. I've also purchased NY strips before Chewy and Nervy.

I'm in love with the meal prep classes. They're fun and the meals a very tasty. I'm single so this the perfect way to spice up a meal for one. read more

Very nice but her shop with a lot of high quality (and very expensive) steak cuts. Didn't get any steaks as were way out of our price range but did pick up some sausage, lots of varieties to choose from and all were very good. read more

My daughter drives 20 minutes to get meats from this butcher shop! Usually when she is grilling out. Over the last year I have sampled their meats every time I visited my daughter and this visit we stopped by the market together. I was impressed by the size of the store and the variety of specialty foods in addition to standard meats. Like most butcher shops- they usually have a deal of the day, but the rest of the prices are generally higher than a supermarket. That reflects the quality of the meats- so that is fine by me. My daughter bypassed the special of the day and went right for the steaks that she wanted. Meanwhile- I was picking up some sarsaparilla soda- a rare treat in my world. I can tell you the marinated meats are simply phenomenal- chicken, burgers, steaks- mind blowing, drool between bites good! read more

Really a fan of Southern Steer Butcher. Everyone has solid customer service skills in this place from the guys who sling that meat in the back to the people who tend the cash. I've been here 3 times. First was the most impressive. I did buy almost $150 dollars in meat because I was so excited when I walked in. I mean, if a tiger or bear or velociraptor walked into a field with as much of a meat selection as South Steer Butcher had, there would be some severe differences in the evolutionary chain. I.E. OMG this place has the meats! So, first. I ate some grilled pre-made hamburgers. Both the blue-cheese and the cheddar stuffed were unbelievable. Accompanied by the buns they sell onsite and the Florida made chips and salsa began an experience beyond my mouths comprehension and gained most likely a life-long customer. Second, I had the bone-in ribeye tonight cooked on my Kamado Joe. Seared at 700+ degrees and the finished off to a perfect Medium rare, I never want to eat out at a restaurant steak again. Salt, pepper, olive oil...that's it. I was in heaven. Third, Customer service. Love this place. Everyone here loves the meats. They even have cooking/prep classes. Also, don't forget to join the frequent flyer's club here. Thank you Southern Steer. I think I'm a customer for life! read more

Lots of interesting items, out of the ordinary. Steaks looked great but still a little too pricey. We bought two large pork chops with plans to stuff them and in just two days they had soured. Disappointing... also bought shrimp skewers and they were a nice change. Staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. The store was very well organized and clean. Really disappointed in the lack of freshness on pork read more

During COVID-19, we found ourselves purchasing a smoker since eating out wasn't going to happen for quite sometime. Publix and Land and Sea was not going to cut it for my new Traeger so Southern Steer Butcher here we come. Upon entering I was greeted with a friendly "hello" and the gentleman who helped me was vert knowledgeable. He helped me me pick out some nice pieces of beef, a rack of ribs and a whole chicken for my smoker. I would definitely take the trip here for future meat purchases and I'm excited to try out my new smoker! read more

We love Southern Steer meats! But our Labor Day this evening was a disappointment. Did you change your supplier of hot dogs? They looked different but tasted different as well! Mushy, no flavor no snap! Nothing special - very sad! We will have to find a new place for hot dogs! Tarpon Springs Fl. read more

In early November, I put in my order for a fresh, "never frozen" turkey and picked it up 2 days before Thanksgiving (on Tuesday). I unpacked it on Wednesday to brine it, and it was indeed frozen. I called and spoke to the manager, who told that their "turkeys are never frozen, but you may have one that was a little frosted," amd that I should just put it in a cooler overnight. After 6 hours on the smoker, we ate our Thanksgiving dinner without the turkey because it was bloody in the thighs and too pink in the breast. $50 bucks down the drain. Thanks Southern Steer. Now I have to find a new butcher. Paul C read more

I can't comment on the meats yet Bc I just left this butcher shop now, but I can comment on their customer service. And it's top notch! Kirk, at the meat counter.... saw us wonder in looking alittle lost. He from the get go ... introduced himself and asked if we had been there before. We told him no. He gave us the whole run down of the place. We settled on a 5 lb brisket and 2 steak tips ( marinated-steakhouse & Argentina). After our military discount, 48 bucks! The cashier Nathan was super helpful and patient with us! I'll be sure to up date once we grill these meats! Update: all the meats are great quality! The marinated meats are very TENDER and tasty! My favorite was Steakehouse Marinade! read more

Expensive but worth it. Can always count on a quality piece of prime at Southern Steer.

After looking at the very high ratings I decided to go to Southern Steer. I am very disappointed. Their "Italian sausage " was inedible and we threw it in the trash. It was the worst sausage I ever had. I should hav know because after seeing all the different kinds of meat "marinating " in the case, I guess they are trying to appeal to a different demographic. Too bad but Sam's has pretty good beef and Publix sausage is better. I have been making my own sausage for years and if SS left out half of the junk they put in their sausage and used a little more fat it would be greatly improved. read more

Five stars because this places Argentinian marinated steak is da bomb. I found out about this place nearly two years ago as they frequent Dunedin festivals with their food offerings but also have the brilliant idea of free samples and it was live at first bite. This steak is the most tender you will ever have for steak tips and just enough marinade that you can still taste the beef. They also have the marinade of chicken and other proteins as well as many other marinades. But if you just get one thing it is the Argentinian beef. Each time I've been there the service has been excellent so even if I thought they were a four star I'd give them a five. But they are a five star. Amongst their meet offerings they have various salads, vegetables and some seafood amongst freshly made sandwiches. This is truly a one stop shop for your cookout needs. read more

Nothing bad to say about this place, but wish it was closer to my house lol. This place has THE best quality poultry and meats hands down. Their marinated beef tips are to die for and their marinated chicken can't be beat. Treat yourself and your family and stop in and see for yourself. You will not be disappointed! read more

We went in there and upon first entering the whole place smells strongly of household bleach. we decided to purchase some breakfast sausage. We saw there was some nice pink breakfast sausage in the front of the case. When we asked if we could have the pink sausage vs. the grey sausage that they tried to sell us the answer was no we have to sell the older stuff first. When we went to make breakfast this morning the sausage had a nasty bad smell and we had to throw it in the trash. The cases seem to be filled with mostly marinated meats. Very few fresh cut steaks or seafood. We will not be returning. read more

Meal Prep and Cooking Class at Southern Steer Clearwater is topic of review. July special $99 was an amazing bargain. I wanted new recipes for crock pot and class included 8 meals to feed 4, fully-prepared with meet, ingredients and spices at class with cooking instructions for crock pot or you can use oven or grill if preferred. Bring a cooler as meals go home in 2 gallon size freezer bags. Website includes 3 diet specific menus for Keto, Paleo and Traditional. Butcher shop has many items already seasoned with labels for Gluten Free and Gluten Friendly and owners often hold classes for specific dietary needs, and classes for kids and families. Bonus Idea:‼they are also non-profit and often prepare and donate meals to churches and charities. Sign up your social or church group to prepare the meals as an activity and specify the charity you want to receive the food. For the $99 my husband was my prep buddy., but two friends paid the $99 and Southern Steer helped them split meals in half so they each left with 8 2-person meal bags. We could not wait to taste the various meals: chicken, pork, turkey and ham....so we asked family members to cook right away and report on recipes. Favorites so far are Sweet Asian Chili Chicken Thighs, Cilantro Lime Argentine Chicken Tacos and Asian Pork Belly Roast. I will update review when family reports on Spiced Rum Smoked Ham Roast and Greek Turkey Burgers. read more

Okay, this place is legit. My cuz recently moved to the area and asked me if I knew of a reputable butcher, and I referred him to Southern Steer based on Yelp reviews and some filets I had a few years back on Super Bowl Sunday. However, I hadn't actually been until today. I scooped up a lamb slider with mint and a bleu cheese burger along with some white cheddar southern mac n cheese. Brought them home and slapped them on our virgin grill and BOOOOOYA! I dare a restaurant to serve me a better burger, seriously. And they were less than $2. McDonald's can't even compete with that price, and this beef is from the good ole U.S. of A. -- Creekstone Farms in Kansas. They also carry craft beers and some grocery items like Da Sesto's TamPasta (fresh pasta), as well as their sauces. But the item that excited me most was the Sunset Salsa. I haven't seen this stuff in about 15 years. I used to buy it by the shopping bag full from Robert's on Westshore Boulevard. It is the absolute best stuff a salsa lover can get outside of a restaurant. While there, ask them about their meat marination process; it will scientifically blow your mind. I signed up for a rewards card, and I pledge my meat loyalty to Southern Steer! Oh, and just in case buying beers and copious amounts of meat doesn't make you manly enough, they have a small but acceptable cigar selection close to the register. read more

Bought boneless pork chops, and cooked them in slow cooker for 7 hrs. They were bad and tough!! bought stuffed peppers too. They were awful !! no taste at all. There prices are about 20% higher then Publix, and far worse then Publix's meats. I was very upset !! I'd never buy anything there again read more

Wow! Amazing tasting marinated meats!! Charcuterie supplies and great service. Thank you!

Customer service, selection, and taste is excellent. They are very accommodating to custom cuts and infused seasonings.

I was excited about trying this butcher out as the reviews looked really good. When I arrived and went in, not a single employee was wearing a mask as Pinellas County is exploding with COVID cases. How irresponsible, unhealthy, and inconsiderate. Any cough, or sneeze would corrupt the food. If they can't trouble themselves with masks I won't trust any of their sanitation. read more

I started coming here because of the reviews but return because of quality of their meats. After trying most of the different flavors of marinades, I found I like the ranch marinade on the chicken and Argentine marinade on the beef. My family also enjoys the pork roasts. At this point it is the only place I buy meat for my family. I would love for them to stay open till 7:30 as it is hard to get there before they close. read more

This place is amazing. Our new local butcher shop for sure! They staff is very insightful and friendly! The offer packaged deals that are going to save us money. They have marinated beef tips and chicken. Make all their sausages in house. The wife and I picked up some porterhouse steaks and they were so good. One of the best cuts I've had in a long while. They even offer couples cooking sessions where you can make and take home 40 meals. That will help us out thru the weeks tremendously since we both work 9to5. Yes, it's a little pricey but the meat is very high quality with quite a few choices. There are several pre-marinated options for beef and chicken as well as kabobs and a variety of fresh sausages like andouille and chorizo. Sign up for their frequent buyer program (free) which entitles you to perks and first notification of sales. COVID has done a number on supply for meat in our local grocers, but you can always find what you need here. Besides meat, there are a number of gourmet food items from spices and seasonings to dry goods like pasta and specialty rice. There's a decent selection of cheeses, wine and craft beer, as well as some prepared grab and go sides to cook at home. There is also a senior hour first thing in the morning to keep older folks safe during the pandemic. Great customer service rounds out the experience here. read more

This butcher shop is exactly what a butcher shop should be. If they dont have it, just ask and they'll get it, no matter the size or amount. I am lucky enough to have this place close enough to my house that I can stop by anytime I wish. I love grilling, and working on my yard, and this place is conveniently in the same vicinity of a Home Depot so smiles all around. If your into meat or simply want to go and see what a butcher shop is supposed to be like, go here. Thank me later. read more

Not a midwestern type butcher shop. Most meat is in marinating trays. We didn't buy anything.
