This is a cautionary tale. I dropped three prints off for framing. The first was for my Mother…read moreand, after selecting the frame choice and matting, I was told it would be under $100. Then, I had two of mine that I needed framed, both were 10" x 10" in size. I selected the matting, frame, and glass and was told I would be called with the pricing for them as she wasn't sure. When I hadn't heard back after a week, I called the store. The owner told me she had told the framer to go ahead as the pricing was decent, but said she would take care of me since she hadn't called and that I would be looking at about $150 each, give or take $10 either way. When I got there, I was actually charged $250 for one and $225 for the other of mine and $140 for my Mother's, but she "graciously" gave me a 20% discount for not having called. My two pictures wound up costing me $200 and $180 each and my Mom's $112 after this 20% discount. Please understand, I would NOT have gone ahead with the framing of mine at the $250 and $225 pricing, but I felt like a hostage as they are numbered prints now in frames. I've had many pictures framed in my lifetime (these were the 6th, 7th, and 8th pictures I have had done by this gallery) and am aware this was not good pricing at all, so this 20% discount only brought me down closer to where it should have been. I was in a hurry to get to the hospital to see my Mother so I did pay for the pictures and leave (my bad as I should have challenged her on it, however, I am taking it as a $100 learning experience). It wasn't until I got home that I realized they had put the wrong frame on the pictures (they were swapped one for the other...I sensed some hesitancy on her part while I was there - was she aware of this mistake and just didn't want to say anything and hope I didn't notice?). They are acceptable framed this way but weren't my choice for them. My enjoyment of these prints I love so much will now be tainted every time I look at them. I cannot complain about the quality of work as it has always been good, including this time.

This weekend we visited the Iroquoian Village at Crawford lake and had a great experience. The area…read morehas been set up the way the Iroquoian villages used to be when the natives lived there. It was really interesting to see the buildings, areas where they cooked, how the homes were made and more. There were many plaques throughout the area so you could read and learn how they lived many years ago. I definitely recommend a day trip so you can check out the village and walk around the lake and view Iroquoian artwork that has been preserved.

Anyway, Paul told us it could be done and he would also put it into our frame if we brought it in for him. He told us it would be 2 weeks and is debit machine was down so we would have to pay cash, which we did. Went back after 2 weeks to be told it wasn't done as he couldn't remember what he was suppose to do with it, we then asked why he didn't call to ask, even though it as written down on our receipt, he responded with I've been extremely sick for the last 3 weeks.He then said it was on his priory list and would be done by the Friday ( giving him another 6 days) We actually gave him till the following Thursday(another 6 days), he told us he was picking the print up on Friday and it would be ready by Tuesday. Went in on the Tuesday evening and said that when he went to pick it up from Toronto he was informed that the guys printer had broke. At this point i asked why he never called to update us on this as we always seem to be chasing him and we had already paid, his response was "you are just wasting your time and my time by calling me, I told you I would call when the job is done" After an exchange of a few harsh words,as I don't believe a business should be run this way. I told him if I didn't have the print in a frame by a week on Friday I want my money back. he also told me I didn't pay cash as he doesn't take cash,when I explained his machine was down he said he couldn't remember that and it wasn't him that took my order. An hour after I left the store he messaged my partner to say it was best all round if we could supply an email address and he would return the funds and then we could pick up the frame we left there. This guy was just lie after lie, and rude beyond belief, after being promised something in 2 weeks and still waiting 5 weeks later after yet another excuse and being paid in full from the start. We would never recommend him to anyone.

This annual fall fair is fun for the entire family! We took the toddlers today (ages 1 & 2) and…read morestayed for 2.5 hours. There were live animals (a petting zoo with horses, cows, chickens, goats, etc.), bunny hop show, k9 unit show, horse and carriage and horse riding competitions, local vendors and food trucks, tractor pulling contests, midway rides and games. While my toddler was too short to go on the rides, she did enjoy climbing and sitting in the stationary tractors. Some events (tractor pull) were quite loud and kicked up a lot of dust and black smoke. There was a small stage with live performers (we caught a performance where they played kids songs). There was a butter tart contest too, but we'd left before it started. Th ere were portable bathrooms all around and one regular bathroom with flushable toilets in the food area. Our entire family thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely be back again next year. Tip: Park for free at the school across the street or just on the street. Admission is $10 for adults, free for kids under 5.
