My daughter-in-law and I found this little gem with the help of yelp and I HAD to come on here and write about it. Both of us normally dread the formal dress shopping experience. This is, by far, the best formal dress shopping experience I've ever had. Ms Nanci was so helpful. In helping us, she was not pushy, she had great suggestions and lots of experience with what works. She was very patient and didn't get upset that I wanted to try many different styles to both see about something new and to rule out what might not work. She brought dresses to the dressing room and helped with zippers etc which sped up the process a lot. We were in and out in an hour and that has never happened before. We both bought affordable dresses that we love. If I ever need another formal dress again, this will be my first stop. There are a few more interesting tidbits about this store; they work directly with a seamstress who will do alterations for you and, if you want a different color dress (on most styles) you can order them, but there's is about an 8 week turnaround to get them. I always go with my husband on a Saturday, and recently when we dropped in, we found the spring sale whittled down to half-of-half-of-half on an outdoor rack. A very friendly sales assistant greeted us and started a changing room for me. When we were finished perusing the items, she led us to it and offered us both something to drink. We declined this time, but I have often taken them up on the offer, especially if I had a lot of items to try. Every single year, I find one or two (or three!) gems at this sale, things I wear for years and on which I get compliments for years. But this year, I walked more carefully through the rest of the store, not just to ogle the $3,000 suits and dresses, but to see what they had in other price ranges, and they really do have some affordable and beautiful pieces that you wouldn't necessarily have to wait for the sale to buy. Barbara Jean's most wonderful attribute is that the sales associates are ALWAYS friendly and welcoming. There are other "expensive" boutiques in Little Rock that definitely do NOT share this feature -- it's as if you have to prove to them you are worthy to shop there. When the time comes for me to buy a really expensive piece, those stores will not be my destination of choice. Barbara Jean will!

I browsed around for a while to see if someone would eventually ask if I needed help, but no one did. There were two white women shopping in the store, and I noticed the employees were actively assisting them. I'm African American, and I was standing nearby browsing on my own. There was also another gentleman who was assisting one of the customers, and at no point did anyone step away for even a moment to acknowledge me or ask if I needed help. I understand employees may be helping other customers, but a simple "Hi, we'll be with you shortly" goes a long way. As a African American customer, being the only person in the store who wasn't acknowledged while white customers were being assisted made me uncomfortable and left me questioning why I was treated differently. I ultimately left without purchasing anything. Customer service and making every customer feel welcome matters, and unfortunately, I did not feel welcomed during my visit.

Sadly, I get frustrated every time I go. Last time they insisted they "couldn't find me in the computer" and kept looking for my personal info...which was frustrating because I was in a hurry, and I just needed to GO. Why do you need my personal info?? My money is still green no matter what my name, address, and bra size is!! Then this time I walked in and was greeted kindly. The associate was helpful...but I saw signs EVERYWHERE saying leotards were buy one get one 50 percent off...these signs did not indicate an end date. There were literally signs in each room saying this. So I took extra time and picked out six leotards...and mentioned the good sale as I headed to checkout and was told "oh I'm sorry, that ended yesterday." Another person walked by and said "sorry about that". But are you really sorry? Three employees in the store and while I checked out NOT ONE moved to remove the signs. This is false advertising and its RUDE. The associate told me "we just haven't had time to remove those signs"...yet when I walked in she was straightening racks and business had been open for HOURS. I think this is my last time in footlights...I can find most everything they sell online and not get mixed messages/blatant lies about sales and Spanish Inquisition to make a purchase. The customer shouldn't have to pay full price when dozens of signs have been accidentally left up. I think I'll report them to the BBB for false advertising.

I am not a dancer, but I came here for shoes for a dance-exercise class because my running shoes…read moreweren't exactly right. Everyone was quite helpful, though the shoes didn't really do the trick in the end. I went in and explained that because I have a high arch, I needed a a supportive shoe for my class, because often my arches end up hurting. When I went in, one woman began helping me, and then she was called away (?), and another woman finished helping me select a shoe. This felt a little strange. The first woman to assist me suggested a really "cute" shoe that is almost completely flat and has very little support. The second woman said it will not do the trick, even though it is very cute. I ended up with a very reasonably priced Capezio shoe that has soles on the heel and balls of the feet/toes only, with a flexible arch. Since buying these shoes, I've gone back to my running shoes because the Capezio soles are so hard, they don't offer enough cushion for all the hopping/jumping/high impact of my classes. I will wear them again because they are smooth and slide on the carpet, which is handy, but they aren't exactly right. I wished the women (either one of them) knew enough about the exercise classes and my feet to suggest the right shoe to me. A third woman checked me out and told me about their affinity programs, etc. They have a lot of cute clothes in here, and they may just be more suited to dancer-dancers than dance exercisers.

The customer service at this store is embarrassing and there is zero accountability about timely delivery. THEN, we learned that the shirts aren't actually even made in house and instead the store owner simply takes measurements on site and then sends said measurements to a manufacturer in China and then you as the customer have to wait months if not an entire year for the Chinese manufacturer to ship you your shirts. They even tried to cover the name of the Chinese company who manufactures the shirts on the box but it was easily removable. They should be ashamed of themselves for saying that this is a bespoke custom tailor shop. VERY disappointed!
