If I could give negative stars, I would. My husband, Mason,…read morebanked with First State Bank in Decatur before his passing, and what I've experienced since has been nothing short of unprofessional and suspicious. After his death, I tried to make payments on loans we had, only to be told different stories. First, I was assured I could make payments without being on the account. Then suddenly, I was told it wasn't allowed and treated rudely. Things got worse when I discovered that Debra Meador, the Assistant VP/Regional Retail Officer, is close friends with Mason's mom. That relationship seems to have influenced how I've been treated and possibly how Mason's accounts have been handled. While his estate is in probate--which prohibits title transfers--I found out through his Credit Karma account that a loan was paid off, and now his mom claims she has the truck title in her name. On top of this, I've been accused on social media of stealing the truck Mason gave me. The bank's lack of transparency and possible involvement in shady dealings has left me questioning how much of Mason's money has been improperly accessed. This bank doesn't just fail at professionalism--they actively contribute to unnecessary drama and hardship during a difficult time. I wouldn't trust them with my money or my time.

BEST bank ever! I opened an account at this bank when this…read morebranch first opened, and the customer service has never been less than stellar! The tellers are incredibly helpful and friendly, and this is a bank where you feel that you have a true relationship with the bankers. When you phone the branch, a real person answers the phone (not a computer demanding your social security number, mother's maiden name and first-born child like most banks these days)! And before I identify myself, they even greet me by name just knowing my voice! Yes, they have online banking and all the most current banking technology, but the personal touch and attention to detail Washington Federal Savings and Loan offers adds much more value to the experience of doing business with them, for both personal and business accounts. If you can't imagine saying that you LOVE your bank like I do, open an account with them and see for yourself.

I was told…read moreyesterday because I am "elderly" it was decided I am being scammed and even though the funds posted into her bank account they will not release her funds TO HER. Instead Brian Henry (senior market manager Dallas) told me I had to contact my bank and LIE AND CLAIM FRAUD in order for the money to be returned to me--absolutely ridiculous! I want the money paid out to my friend. I think 2 months is long enough. The bank is holding the money hostage UNLESS I LIE AND REPORT FRAUD. Anyone else have issues with Capital One Bank? Any ideas? I intend to report this injustice to the state and federal banking institutions.

The card never worked. I ended up closing the account due to the bank and staffs inability to get the account working properly. So two years later I go to open another account and Comerica has reported me to some banking bureau for $100. So now I can't open the account and now have to go back to the worst bank in America (Comerica) to get this straightened out. My advice is to keep your money as far away from this bank as possible.

Colonial Bank bought our loan from Prime Lending (a great company in Austin) without our knowledge…read more That's when things turned bad. They immediately INCREASED our mortgage by $300 per month without notice. When I called to ask why the rep explained that they projected an increase in property taxes; so they needed to fund the escrow to cover it. This increased payment has gone on over a year now and we have a sizable SURPLUS or our money sitting in the escrow - unavailable to us, as the property taxes DID NOT increase as they had projected. That's nice, however they are not giving us our money back or even applying it to principle. I've called 2x now and the very nice and polite phone rep tells me that they will be rebalancing everything and cutting checks soon. Still - I don't like it that they have essentially had an extra $4K of my money this year and I need this to pay INCOME TAXES NOW!
