I am so disappointed in this practice! I really loved coming here when I first started doing so. In…read moreretrospect, I think I really loved my hygienist, and not Dr. Nichols or the office itself. When my hygienist left, everything went downhill. It's next to impossible to get an appointment here, so you have to book at least 4-5 months in advance (which is great if you can do it, but when things come up and you have to reschedule, it's a real bear). Friendship Heights also used to be close to where I worked, but now that I'm downtown it's just such a booger to get out there for a daytime appointment. I got my first cavity and had to point it out to them (just something off, no pain or anything) they didn't notice it in the cleaning or x-ray review. Once they got in there to fix it, however, Dr. Nichols noted that it was actually quite large and that we were lucky we caught it so soon. Scheduling that follow-on appointment to fix the cavity was also a real pain in the tuchus, although it did not take 4 months. I finally decided to make the switch and they don't do digital x-rays, so they can't send the x-rays I recently had taken to my new dentist and weren't helpful in any way on the phone, which is par for the course with the front desk person. He always seems annoyed that you're there and wasn't helpful in saying something like "we don't do digital x-rays, SORRY, but we can mail them." He just said "We don't do that" and that was that. Like, his whole job is customer service and trust me I know how much that can suck but like don't make it so that people have to force basic information out of you? Tell me what I need to know and we can both end this interaction more quickly, bro. I won't be going back, I don't recommend them, and I am sorry to everyone to whom I previously raved about this place and who went to Dr. Nichols at my urging and now can't get quality care OR their x-rays transferred.

Unfortunately this also resulted in neglect of routine dental care which only got worse. I recently had a root canal done at another office who referred me to Dr. Park for follow up and I'm so grateful that they did. Aside from the root canal follow up, I knew I had two teeth in the back that I was convinced would need to be extracted because they had such large, deep cavities. Dr Park not only prevented them from being extracted, but was able to fill them in office and save them entirely. He is so kind and gentile, walks me through everything he's doing, and answers the firehose of questions I throw his way effortlessly. His reception staff are also outstanding and have been able to get me in for follow up appointments quickly. While I don't think I'll ever "enjoy" going to the dentist, I couldn't ask for a better experience than with Dr. Park. Can't recommend him enough!

I've been going to Dr. Brian Park for dental care for just over 2 years now. I started going here…read moreafter going to another dentist and they told me I needed 12 fillings done which just felt excessive. Dr. Park was honest when I came in for a second opinion and assured me that that number of fillings was not necessary and only filled the cavities that needed them. Additionally, Dr. Park has excellent bedside manner and is very gentle when doing dental work. I was very comfortable during the fillings I did have done (didn't even feel it--and i've had many painful dental experiences as a kid) and he makes sure to keep you in the loop during the process so you're not taken by surprise by anything (during regular cleanings too). He is very transparent about things that you may need to keep a close eye on and provides helpful suggestions for what you can do to prevent issues from getting further. Overall, if you're looking for a dentist to go to in the DMV area I definitely recommend the Parks!

What is most frustrating is that this policy was never disclosed before treatment. Had I been informed in advance that I would be expected to pay out of pocket despite having insurance, I would have declined the services and sought care elsewhere. Patients deserve complete transparency regarding financial policies before any work is performed. Springing unexpected payment demands on patients after treatment is unacceptable and undermines trust in the provider. Being upfront about costs is a basic expectation of any professional medical practice. The lack of transparency left me feeling misled and frustrated. Regardless of the quality of the medical care, billing practices like this are enough to make me never return or recommend this office to anyone. Patients should know exactly what their financial responsibility will be before consenting to treatment--not after the fact.
