We have been going here for years. We are happy with the practice. The people are always super friendly and seem happy. I usually see most of the same people working there so also a nice sign. I haven't been charged for things I dont need it services I didn't come for or that sound fishy. It's a really nice looking practice too - clean and tidy with TVs and modern tech etc. if I had to point out one thing though - and thus a star off - we have never had an appointment where they didn't need to reschedule us in some way... can you come a bit earlier? I have been meaning to leave a review of this place for awhile now. This was my first trip back to the office since Covid and they have really installed protective services including a protective shields at the front desk and an automatic temperature gauge which was cool. As always, the staff are pleasant, professional and good at what they do. The office is located on Georgia Avenue near the Wheaton mall. There is now metered parking on Georgia Avenue in front of the office. I first went to Elite Dental a few years ago. It had been over a decade since I visited the dentist and I get very anxious in dentists offices. When I had my first appointment, everyone was extremely friendly and encouraging. Not shaming me for not having seen the dentist for a long time and providing an atmosphere that was warm and welcoming. They did an amazing job that first appointment and it has been fantastic each follow-up appointment. The team is excellent about communication with appointments and other pertinent information related to the office. I am also very proud to support Dr. Walker and his black-owned business because they really do a fantastic job! So I encourage anyone that is like me and had not visited the dentist in a long time or if you have any anxiety about attending the dentist, this is the place to go to welcome you back. Wish I could give this place less than a single star, but - here goes: 'Unprofessional' is one word, 'incompetent' is another. Fraudulently steering potential patients to non-existent dental "insurance plans" so they can get kickbacks, is... WOW. So, I'm told it'll be $179.00 for a cleaning, plus ex rays. I get in there - and this snotty tech tells me she (all of a sudden) can't do a cleaning until she performs a more expensive service. Bait and switch - which is illegal, but - that's apparently par-for-the-course with this shoddy business. It'd be different if she were qualified and nice, except she was neither. They're pain freaks who'll experiment on you, as they see fit. RUN - don't walk - far, far away from this comedy of errors; GO ELSEWHERE ! read more

An additional issue. When I had a cleaning done in the spring, I was informed by Walker that I needed a filling for a cavity and the practice pushed me to make an appt to get it filled which I refused to do. When I saw my current dentist, he checked the tooth and others and found NO cavity. If Walker did this to me, he is surely doing this to other patients. Be warned. This is an unethical practice and should be avoided. Anyone else who has encountered this issue should file a complaint with the MD Board of Dentistry. read more

The first time I visited the office, I hadn't been to the dentist in 7 years before I made an appointment. When I went in to the office, everyone was very polite and warm. I didn't have any cavities, but the staff kept reminding me that there's more to taking care of my teeth than just brushing. They spent time walking me through how to take better care of my teeth. The staff joked with me and made the entire process very enjoyable with minimal pain. It was the most through dentist appointment I have ever had! I have referred my mother, wife, in-laws, friends, and others to Elite Dental Center!!! Since my first visit, I have been going back every 6 months. The staff has remained friendly and responsive throughout all of my visits. Some technicians have allowed me to play music while cleaning my teeth. Other technicians have had conversations about life, music, family, and more. I never enjoyed going to a dentist before I went here, now I never want to miss a 6 month appointment. Again, I wanted to patronize a black business and there goes someone with an attitude to mess up a good thing. I've been swamped with work and haven't been able to keep my phone glued to may face to answer it every time it rings when they called to confirm my appt....and was only able to answer or call when I could. I had an appt for a routine cleaning on Friday, March 22nd, but couldn't make the date and couldn't set aside the time to reschedule it. I received a text stating that I should type "C" to confirm or call to reschedule (on Monday), immediately after I received this text, I called and left a message explaining that I couldn't make the appt and asking to reschedule. I then received another correspondence asking me to confirm the appt (that I've already left a message to reschedule). I called again this morning and was greeted with an "are you sure you can't make the appt, because you'll be charged $50 for cancelling less than 24 hours in advance?" I asked, "why would I not be sure when I can't make the appt?" I was told that I should have a chat with the office manager bc I didn't feel like I should be charged $50 considering that I called and left a message requesting to reschedule, more than 48 hours in advance of my appt. The office manager, Arre, was very unpleasant, stating that she hadn't received my message (likely bc they hadn't checked the messages from Monday), then proceeded to tell me that I should've called again and/or replied to the text. She also stated she would check the voicemail box, but never said whether she'd contact me afterward. First of all, if I call and leave a message more than 48 hours in advance of my appt, I shouldn't have to chase Elite Dental down to make sure they get it. I work 2 jobs and did my due diligence by calling and leaving a message. Furthermore, what's the point of having a voicemail option, if no one checks the messages in a timely enough fashion to prevent patrons from having to pay a $50 cancellation fee...unless that's their angle....to cash out on patrons? I told her her that I intentionally patronize black businesses and it's people like her (with a nasty, smug attitude) that give hard working black businesses a bad rep. I wanted to speak to her supervisor (bc they've always been nice and done good business), but they won't be in until April 1st. I told her that I'd speak to her supervisor and leave a yelp review...neither of which she cared about...which goes to show her level of concern for the success of Elite Dental and the respect for their patrons. I look forward to her actually checking their voicemail and an apology for her poor attitude. Also, she could benefit severely from customer service training, bc a pleasant voice doesn't make for a pleasant attitude/demeanor. read more

This place always, always tries to upsell me (and charge my insurance and leaving me with out-of-pocket expenses) for procedures I don't need. I finally walked out today after being informed I need a "special deep cleaning," which I don't...and I'm still upset about the crown I didn't need a few years ago and the attempt to steer me toward other services last time I was in as well. Our whole family has gone here for years, and the whole team is just great. Dr. Walker is warm and personable, the hygienists somehow always remember me and my family between our 6-month check-ups, the receptionists are kind and professional, and things run on time, which is really rare for dental/medical appointments. The quality of care is good, and I'm surprised to read reviews about upselling, which I have never experienced at Elite Dental in 8 years as a patient. While they're not a pediatric dentist, my son loves it there, and the do have a little "treasure chest" with treats for the kiddos. November 2018. I am a first year customer to the Elite Dental Center. I have had some some major dental restoration. Dr. Rouchon and Dr. Walker with the nursing staff team are so professional with quality results. My latest four front teeth crowns have brought back happy smiles. My restoration started with completion of five molar crowns! The final stages, may including a bridge or maybe implants to replace extracted old root canals allowing the time needed for healing. The follow up communication at the front reception desk with an after hour call from the Dentist after surgery is excellent service, especially knowledgeable office staff about your dental work when making inquiries! Sensitive to budget planning with emphasis on priority treatment. Very impressed with detailing of dental care for both my wife and I, so appreciative with empathy to my fear of visiting a dentist. I was an patient of Elite Dental in late August, and I was just blown away by exceptional customer service and professional care Dr. Walker. Here is why they were amazing. I delayed getting my dental work done before I was scheduled to travel to Europe for a year. August is obviously super tough because of the back to school crowd. Turns out I needed quite a bit of work. They managed to squeeze me in, and over one week, managed to complete my dental work with three different visits. Dr. Walker was extremely patient, and understanding of my situation. I was able to get all of my dental work done without having to shell out cash in Europe. The front office staff, extremely professional - remembering my name and follow up calls and voice messages - and clearly enjoyed where they worked. I didn't even live in MD, I lived in DC! But I would highly recommend checking them out. Other medical professionals waste your time - Dr. Walker doesn't. And the big bonus is being in a clean, calming environment where you can feel relaxed. It felt less like a dental office. Also loved the music selection! read more

Although, maybe it's just me, the ladies in the front are oh just so friendly chuckling away like they have an inside joke for every single patient that walks in. I'm a first timer writing reviews, but I felt obligated to share my ordeal with this dental place. Here is the true story. I went to this dental office after I went to a endodontist to have a root canal. He told me to go to a regular doctor for the crown. I went to Elite Dental Center to have a crown made for me. After the crown procedure was done, the front office staff told me that I needed a scaling job for my teeth. Since I knew that the office staff called my insurance about my benefits, I asked them if I still had money left from the $1500 yearly allowance from Cigna. They said I still had money and the procedure will only cost me $90 out-of-pocket which I paid in full. After this, they told me that the dentist recommended that 3 crowns needed to be replaced, but that one needed to done right away. I asked the office staff if I had still had money from my yearly allowance and she reassured me that I had. So, I had the job done. A few months later I received a bill for $900 stating that none of the above procedures were covered by the insurance because I have reached my limit for the year. I was made aware by one of the front office staff who actually showed me in her system that during the intake another office staff called my insurance. The Cigna representative gave them my remaining balance for the year; however, the person who filled out the form wrote that I still had $1,500 available as opposed to the true remaining balance. On different occasions, I felt pressured by the office staff to get different procedures done such as the scaling procedure and crown. I do have to say that they tried to have the crown placed the next year so that on the new year my insurance will pay for the crown. However, after speaking with a representative from Cigna I found out that the crown was less than 5 years old so they would not pay for the replacement until 2018. So, why is it that the office staff didn't find this out before the doctor removed my second crown? I wasn't in pain because I had a root canal done, so I could have waited until it was replaced in 2018. But, I was not made aware of this. I have never experienced this kind of incompetence in any dental office before since I was aware what my financial obligations were going to be with no unfortunate surprises later. One of the office staff told me personally and she stated "I don't think it's fair for you to pay for a mistake that we've made. I'm telling you about this because I wouldn't like this to happen to me." I appreciated her honesty and acknowledgment of her mistake. However, Dr. Walker and the other office staff were not willing to acknowledge their mistake. This dental office only cares about making money and they don't care about customer service!!! read more

I went to the Takoma Park office and they referred me to the Wheaton office for a "free" invisalign consultation. I checked my insurance provider's website to make sure the wheaton office was in my network ahead of time. I get to the office, meet the orthodontist and they say they can take pictures and molds of my teeth to get the process started. I do it. They charged me $300 and I find out after the fact that all the dentists there accept my insurance except for the specific orthodontist I met with. I called and asked for a refund, they said they would call me back. No call back for a week. I call again. They told me to call back when the manager is in. I call back and they say they will call me back in 10 minutes. 2 hours later nothing so I call again and they tell me simply they will not issue a refund because this was my fault. Will never go back or recommend this group to anyone. read more

The offices are always clean and comfortable, the space is very inviting. In addition to all these things, what I found most important was their transparency and reasonable prices. They go above and beyond to ensure that their clients understand any procedures, and have the opportunity to question anything. My previous dentist had scheduled me for a procedure that I thought was questionable. Drs. Walker and McCall took the time to break down the costs and steps for the procedure, for $7000 less! Normally when I book as a new patient, other company's, schedule me 6+ months later than when I register so I was very pleased with Elite. When I got there everyone was so friendly and they got me into my appointment as soon as I finished my paperwork which was amazing! I have been to Elite Dental twice, and both experiences have been great. It's very modern and state of the art. Each dental station has a functioning TV for you to watch while you get worked on. Each person I spoke to has been very friendly and professional.
