I arrived 10 minutes early for my 2:00 appointment, but the door was locked. I waited until 2 o'clock to call the office number but still got the recording. I knocked on the door called again a couple of times, and finallyeft at seven minutes after two. It was over 90 degrees and I was sick of waiting. read more

I really love this dental office. Dr. Mazziotta is very calm, cool and collected. He has beautiful photographs that he has personally taken around his office. Dr. Mazziota is fantastic. Unfortunately, this practice is an administrative nightmare. Voicemail messages go unlistened to (and you, the patient, will be chastised as a result), billing is consistently an issue, and requests from specialists for information or paperwork is ignored repeatedly. I would be OK with the lack of a smile at the front desk, but I don't have time to do your job and mine, particularly when I'm paying for the privilege. It's really a shame because the dentist himself is fantastic, but the paperwork and other issues mean you spend a lot of time fixing things. I'm not sure who has that kind of time, but it isn't me. I am updating this review after my last and final visit. As I mentioned in my original review, the receptionist was completely rude and unprofessional. During my last visit I mentioned the bad behavior to the Dentist. He pretty much shrugged his shoulders and said "sorry???" - as in, he was wondering if that is what I wanted to hear. Then he asked me what I wanted him to do since she's been with him for 20 years. Well ya know, talking to her would be a start! Also during the exam he asked me about one of my teeth and then said "well, I guess if I had checked your records I would know that". Yes, doctor, it would be great if you would refer to my records before you begin the exam. This is not someone who appears to be all with it. Each time I have visited this office, Dr Mazziotta has found the time to neg the dental hygenist in one way or another. The offhand comments are inappropriate, especially because the dental hygenist is actually good at what she does. On Yelp, I see more 5 star reviews for dentists than for any other type of service so there are plenty of good dentists out there. So, really, do not go here!!! read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Mazziotta and his entire staff. Not only have I had a cleaning, but I have had several cavities filled and a root canal done. My experience, in its entirety, was absolutely wonderful. The front desk manager, Heidi, was so nice and friendly that I immediately was so glad that I didn't let another yelp review keep me from going to this office. I even had a late night "emergency" and Dr. Mazziotta couldn't have been nicer about it. He took great care of me and didn't even make me feel badly about calling him during off hours. On top of that, Heidi called me again the next day to make sure that I was ok. I was so nervous and had so much anxiety about going "back to the dentist" after a (longer than it should have been) break. Everyone is the office was SUPER nice and kind and I did not feel judged at all. I finally am back on track and will be a loyal patient of Dr. Mazziotta and his staff as long as he is in practice. Dr. Mazziotta has been my family's dentist for the past four years and he and his staff provide personable, very competent care. Last year, my elderly mother was staying with me, when she experienced substantial pain in her mouth on two different occasions. The pain was so great that she lost interest in eating. Each of the two times that I brought my mother to Dr. Mazziotta, he took x-rays and examined her. Despite the fact that on both occasions the problem couldn't be precisely identified after reviewing the x-rays, he nonetheless narrowed down what the problem could be and referred my mother to two different specialists. These two specialists were then able to solve the two separate problems. I am happy with Dr. Mazziotta because even though my mother's problems were outside the realm of dentistry, he was able to figure out the general nature of the problems and what sort of specialists she should see. I recommend him highly. read more

I couldn't have asked for a better first appointment with Dr. Mazziotta! From the time I called for the appointment until I was done, everything was professional, efficient and pleasant. Old office... I usually like the dentist and wasn't happy when I left. The hygentist seemed clueless.

Dr. M is a great dentist, and has a wonderful heart. His main purpose is to make sure his patients are healthy, dental-wise, and happy with his work. And he takes the time with each patient to understand what's going and make it right. And his work - artistic! This is not the 'drive-through' automated dental office you may have encountered - it's much more patient-friendly. I highly recommend Dr. Mazziotta, for both regular dental work and cosmetic improvements! read more

I went to doctor Mazziotta's office today for the first time. The receptionist was very nice and friendly from the beginning. Connie the hygienist was superb. She was very efficient and definitely knew what she was doing, which is great for a change (and very pretty too). Dr Mazziotta was nice, friendly and to the point. Both of them (Connie and Dr Mazziotta) told me that I don't need the dental work that the other dentist had recommended (Yesss). Before today's doctor's visit I had nothing but bad service and disappointments. I recommend doctor Mazzotta's dental office and I will definitely be back there in 6 months. read more

I couldn't disagree more with the previous review. Dr. Mazziotta has been our family dentist for several years and I recently referred my 94 year-old mother to the practice. He's professional and low-key and does not recommend treatments unless we actually need them--which I am sorry to say, has not always been the case with other dentists in the area. The hygenist is great, and while I suppose tastes can differ, I am a big fan of the receptionist and calendar-keeper. She does her job well and is friendly to every one of us. One thing I appreciate especially is that the receptionist schedules us so that we make the most of our insurance benefits. And I really appreciate that. So Dr. Mazziotta and his office get a big five stars from us. read more

My mother and I have been patients of Dr. Mazziotta's since we moved to the Bethesda area about 5 years ago, and I can vouch for the excellent and consistent care he's delivered to us for the last few years. After a number of bad experiences with dentists in the Bethesda area trying to sell cosmetic fixes during routine dental appointments, we so glad we found Dr. M. He has a quiet, calm demeanor, he is extremely thorough, he has an excellent bedside manner and has always taken the time to address our concerns when we go in. He's also very honest. In the Bethesda/Chevy Chase area I've encountered a lot of dentists who try to convince you that you "need" cosmetic fixes. To me that's a red flag that the business cares more for their bottom line than their patients, and that incentive is high in this area especially with a very wealthy clientele. I respect his honesty, and I trust him since he routinely weighs more conservative options before recommending options that would require a procedure. He also routinely makes room in his busy schedule to work us in for immediate problems like a tooth being chipped. Many of my colleagues including several physicians I work with go to him, and have had very similar experiences. read more
