During installation I found that the screens had holes in two of them and there was a large deep scratch on one of the windows When I called they sent someone out immediately to correct the issue. I get a lifetime transferable warranty and now that it's winter, I can tell they are much less drafty. I'm very happy that I can open my windows now and windex both outside and inside. While I appreciated their history, classic look and the fact that they were still in good shape, it was clear they needed to be updated. I contacted several window companies around town, both local and national establishments. After being put off by some of the high pressure, in person sales tactics other places had, I found the approach that Brian and his team at Zen Windows very refreshing. I also saw that they were voted Best in Charlotte by Charlotte Magazine in 2020, and I wanted to support a local business if I could. Brian was very generous with his time, and it only took a few phone calls with him and a quick visit from his installer to get measurements for them to have all the information they needed. I was impressed with how simple and straightforward the process was. Another huge selling point was that I wouldn't have to pay anything until the job was complete, a big difference from other companies. The turnaround took about three months for the windows to be built, but I would chalk that up to COVID, supply chain issues and increased demand for home projects because of the pandemic rather than anything on Zen's end. Quoted turnaround times at other businesses were similar. Once the windows were ready, Zen sent a simple three man crew to my home to perform the installation. Each gentleman on the crew probably had 30-40 years of window installation themselves, so as a team they were pretty capable. In just two quick morning sessions, my windows were complete! I'm extremely happy with the end result. The windows are fantastic, incredibly easy to use, they look great (black exterior FTW), and I can already tell they perform much better than the old ones. Which then lead us to question if any of the windows had also been improperly installed. The only way to know would be to have all removed. This, after an utterly horrific installation. After a year of having technician after technician here we demanded compensation for all the shoddy and damaging work. We were told that the company was sold and we bought ours from the former company so the current owner is "not in a position to compensate us." It's still the same name and they will uphold the warranty but are taking no responsibility for what we have gone through. To any and all who have had windows installed by them just know they may not have installed them correctly. We never would have known had one not leaked. And we have no recourse now. I strongly suggest looking elsewhere for replacement windows.

Aweful window wrapping job. Measurements and cuts are not accurate, metal isn't covering all of…read morethe window casings, his son did a horrible job caulking and Steve didn't do them correctly. He charged $65 per window and did 6 plus charged $50 to replace one door seal. That wasn't done correctly either and we and the dogs have to be very careful because it really drops down now. It's not level and I can't put my foam door things under the door for winter. He's argumentative because he wouldn't listen when I told him which way the metal piece goes back down at the door seal, and I've seen it for 15 years and should know. When I left a poor review on Thumbtack, where I found him, he left me an obnoxious voice mail. Then his son sent me hateful text messages. $440 down the drain, water still gets in and around the windows and leaking in my house, and we're all going to break our necks trying to go out the back door. And then put up with verbal abuse for telling the truth. I should have thoroughly looked everything over beforehand and really, after the first window. He wouldn't have gotten paid or gotten to wrap the other 5 windows. Save your time and money and skip this guy.
