Today's review is about Jay -- the tall, slim male hairstylist with glasses, who is also one of the…read moreowners of the salon. I am intentionally using this description because I noticed many other one-star reviews describe him the exact same way.
What happened to me at this salon yesterday morning ruined my entire weekend. I cried for hours afterward, and honestly, I never imagined I could be humiliated like this during a haircut.
I never thought I would be brought to tears by a hairstylist.
The situation started from something extremely simple. During the haircut, I noticed the stylist cutting the front sections shorter than I expected. I politely asked whether he could make the layering transition softer so I could keep the front sections slightly longer, because in daily life I often need to tie my hair up while cooking, exercising, or doing housework.
That was literally all I said.
For some reason, he immediately became defensive and aggressive. He raised his voice, started speaking much faster, and completely changed his tone. I was still trying to calm the situation down, and I told him three times: "Please don't get upset."
Instead of calming down, he became even more emotional and then accused ME of having a bad attitude.
As customers, we are the ones who have to live with the haircut afterward. Are we really not allowed to communicate our needs or ask questions? Even if our questions sound inexperienced, are we not allowed to ask respectfully?
But the most unacceptable part happened afterward.
In the middle of the haircut, he simply walked away from me. At that point, only the left side of my hair had been finished while the right side had not been fully trimmed or refined yet.. He gave me no explanation at all -- not even a simple "please wait a moment." He just walked away and started serving another new customer.
So I was left sitting there with half of my hair unfinished.
What made it even worse was that I could hear them laughing and talking about me behind my back while working on the other customer. It was humiliating and incredibly helpless.
When he finally came back to finish my haircut, I was literally crying in the chair.
Even afterward, I still tried to communicate calmly, but he remained emotional and defensive. Eventually, he loudly said "I apologize to you!" in an exaggerated and sarcastic tone that sounded nothing like a sincere apology.
After I got home, I checked online reviews and discovered many other customers describing the same tall, slim male stylist with glasses as disrespectful and unprofessional. Reading those reviews made me realize that I was not "overreacting," and I was not "trying to cause trouble." Many customers clearly felt disrespected during their experience as well.
What disappointed me even more was that instead of facing the situation himself, he called my husband -- because our entire family had been loyal customers of his for a long time, and they had previously exchanged phone numbers -- and also called his sister, the other owner of the salon, to come handle the situation for him.
The undeniable fact is this: he abandoned a customer in the middle of a haircut and went to serve someone else instead.
Even then, the focus was never on understanding why a customer was crying in the salon. The focus was on defending themselves and minimizing the situation.
I am writing this review not to argue, but to warn other customers that even if you are polite, careful with your tone, respectful, and simply trying to communicate your needs, you may still end up being treated with hostility, sarcasm, emotional aggression, and public humiliation.
This was by far the worst and most upsetting salon experience I have ever had.
