It was uneven and looked like they just didn't care. We didn't realize how bad it was until we got home and gave her hair a good brushing. We took her to SmartStyle and Holly worked her magic and undid all the damage that the other place had done. Holly was great, made our daughter feel comfortable and spent over 45 minutes making sure it was done right this time. We will be sure to return to SmartStyle in Bedford and want to thank Holly for the wonderful work and making a little girl very happy!

I went in to the Hair Factory for a hair trim and full dye job -- punky but feminine, with short black hair on the sides/back and a silver faux hawk on top... HOLY SMOKES. These guys were not only incredibly friendly and welcoming (they brought me coffee and snacks while I was waiting!), but Vlad did an INCREDIBLE job on my 'do. I've officially found my new favorite hair salon, period.

Well, by the time I arrived at the Hair Factory, my hair was down to my chin with no texture, substance, or shape whatsoever. I was beyond frustrated, telling stylist after stylist what I wanted and no matter what I paid, always coming out with a flat hair shape that would just take longer to somewhat style with a flat iron. I booked an appointment with Karen Melay after receiving a referral from a coworker of mine. I wanted someone who was very familiar with short hair and could, at this point, work wonders on my hair. It took me 5 minutes to describe my frustrations and what I wanted, and I kid you not, it took her 2 minutes for me to instantly feel better about my hair. The appointment obviously took a little longer than 2 minutes, but she knew exactly what I wanted and I came out with an incredible hairstyle I haven't seen in 2 years! The atmosphere of the salon is definitely warm and inviting; the stylists have a really great cohesion between them, and you can definitely tell. Not only will I be back, but I'll be spreading the word to anyone looking to find a stylist willing to not only listen to what YOU want, but actually understand your hair as well. Added bonus: It's on the waterfront, with a couple of restaurants nearby, so you can walk down the boardwalk showing of that sexy new 'do. Haha

When I saw Nancy, I was in desperate need of a trim. Two of my work colleagues had their hair cut…read moreby her and were pleased with the results. She fit me in about four days after I called. As my mentioned, my hair needed serious TLC... my split ends had split ends and so forth. When Nancy had a look, she didn't lecture me about how I should take better care of it (that's a pet peeve of mine). After washing my hair with phthalate-free, vegan, not-overly-scented fragranced shampoo, she started working on my mop. I have long-ish, thick hair and asked for layers. She recommended shortening the layers around my face and it ended up looking good. She suggested how to style it and gave it a quick once over with a blow dryer. Now, a week after, I'm very pleased with the trim. It ended up costing around $55 including the tip. Nancy was very pleasant and by the end, I felt like a long-time client. She was almost too friendly and eager to please. If you go to the salon for a half-hour of silence, don't go here. I am so happy to be see an environmentally responsible salon opening in the community. I hope Nancy can expand her services so she I can start getting pani-medis there.

My experience definitely didn't start out too great though. Upon arriving at the destination, you enter a "home" style shop suite- with a new consignment dress store on the main level and a tanning salon downstairs. You have to walk through the aisles of dresses to the back of the house where you will find Eco Chic. Not at all clearly labelled. I went downstairs to the salon, asked around and then asked around through the dresses. Dress lady on duty was not at all welcoming. As I approached Eco Chic, I stood awkwardly until none other than the dress lady insisted I walk forward. I did. The setup in Eco Chic is definitely different.. The "front desk" is behind a few styling stations. After that, I was greeted by Dana. I explained very clearly what I wanted done and that I was looking to slowly inch off some hair to get it just right. She listened and new exactly how to proceed. Dana was extremely friendly and made me feel very comfortable. I'm not one to talk throughout appointments, but we found lots to talk about. Being as blind as I am, I could barely see what was going on as my hair was being chopped. But when I put my glasses on after my hair was done and styled, the outcome could not have been more perfect. I am absolutely satisfied with my new hair and would recommend Dana to anyone. Eco Chic uses all organic products- not something I would actively seek out but the products Dana used definitely gave my hair a good feel. Thank you!!
