Large jerk chicken
Alexander T.

Got the large jerk chicken and beef Patty . Jerk chicken was seasoned very well and the jerk sauce had a good kick to it . I hate it when jerk chicken have that sweet bbq sauce on it and this was no where close to that. The only down side is that there wasn't enough on my plate. Jerk chicken portion needs to be bigger for a large. Want that roided up chicken with all the GMOs. Pretty good for $15 didn't cost an arm or a leg. Feels homey in the restaurant. Service was a little slow but I think it's because the food is fresh.

First of all this space is beautiful, from the ceiling to the walls to the tables and pictures hung on the wall. Very comfortable and romantic. Priced super reasonably, and for delicious food. The beef patty was so flakey and savory, Mac n cheese was baked and buttery. And the ox tail w peas was so tender the meat melted in your mouth. Will be back!

Jerk Chicken

I ordered the Jerk Chicken they give you a decent amount of food but it has no flavor very disappointed.

Another amazing meal from First Choice last night - fish and chips, fried plantains, a beef patty on cocoa bread and my favorite - the ackee platter. If you're debating trying, do it! You will be so glad you did!

jerk chicken and curry chicken (medium size)
Sumaya J.

This was my first experience at caribbean food. We decided on ordering (medium) jerk chicken and curry chicken. It came with rice, cabbage and plantain. The flavor was 4 out of 5. There was only two slices of plantain on the rice, which was disappointing because they were really good. But i guess for the price, its understandable. I would like to try out other caribbean spots in the Albany area to compare. I really wanted to try the Beef patty but they were out of them.

Jerk Chicken Regular Dinner to go

I was introduced to jerk chicken here. Now, I'm a solid fan. I've never dined-in here, I usually get take-out. This place is homey and warm. The service can be a little slow, especially on busy nights. I suggest getting here early, as they've ran out on jerk chicken and rice and peas on me a couple of times. The jerk chicken here is stellar, although I admit I don't have another version to compare it to. There's a nice heat to the jerk seasoning, and the cabbage, and rice and peas go great with the chicken. The one time they ran out of jerk chicken on me, I had the stew chicken, which is remarkably similar to the jerk chicken without the heat. The people that work here are very friendly, and I've got nothing but great service. The one time I waited an extremely long time because there were a lot of people dining in that night, and the woman at the counter offered me a free drink. I make it a point to come here at least once a month, cause it's so good. Usually during the ski season, I come here once a weekend after a trip. A great meal to end a great day.

Never miss this place. The Curry Goat is a must-have. The place is clean and the food is delicious. What else can you ask for?

The beef patties are bangin'. The jerk chicken was solid. Rasta Pasta was also a winner.

I ordered two plates of oxtails which came up to $36 and received nothing but bones no meat. It was very disappointing.

The best carribean food in the area. It definitely ranks as one of my favorite restaurants in Troy.

M&K Island Hut - Stew Chicken

I ordered the stew chicken with rice and peas special with a side of macaroni pie. Where do I begin?! It was so good! The stewed chicken was exactly how I like it made -- with a rich thick gravy. The food was packed with flavor and spice, and left me wanting more! I also tried the curried chicken which was also on point. This dish is more spicy than the stewed chicken. I would recommend this as well, especially if you enjoy spicy food. I would say the macaroni was average. I've had better, but I've also had worse. The prices here are great. You can't beat a $5 special that comes with TWO sides! This thing filled me up. The next time I'm in town, I want to try some of their jerk. Overall, I enjoyed the food here. But I'm removing one star for customer service. The woman at the front counter can be hit or miss with her attitude. Something management should definitely work on.

My curry goat was so tender and flavor packed I wiped my bowl clean. Just the right amount of spice that gives a little run to your nose and lingers lightly on tongue but doesn't overwhelm. The beef patty has a hint of spice and is tender. Worth a trip for those craving Island flavors or missing home/vacation.

Moist inside, crispy outside with just a bit of heat. A must. Also had a medium portion of the beef stew with vegetables which was easily enough to serve 2. Stew was pleasant with harmonious flavors but the available spicy slaw kicked it up a notch. Accompanied by black rice which now comes with green peas, not mushrooms, and a pleasant plantain patty. (I'm used to plantains sliced like bananas at Cuban places and guess this one is mashed then reconstituted into a patty.) Slices of onion and bell pepper, shown in previous photos, no longer included nor is what looked like a pretty ordinary side salad. Still a very good value for what I received. The interior is spacious and pleasant (apparently a former Starbucks) and a little hard to find with a difficult to read sign. It's to the left of the Men's Wearhouse store in a strip mall facing Colonie Center. Give it a go so this cuisine newcomer does not go away!

I went in one day after work with another friend and we both tried their rice dishes. I got legume and diri kole (rice and red beans). It was obvious my creole wasn't the strongest lol but they were patient with us as we ordered and clarified things. My friend got something different from me (I forgot what lol) but she enjoyed her meal as well and said it was a great first introduction to Haitian food. The serving sizes are generous and come with a free water bottle. There are also other Caribbean drinks available such as cola champagne, fruit champagne, and nutraments. We both had enough to make another meal out of what we ordered, definitely worth the price. The restaurant itself has a few tables with Haitian flags as the centerpieces. It was tidy and well-kept, we ate our meals at one of the tables by the door and enjoyed the natural light coming in. I'm excited to go back!

The wings were fall off the bone marinated chicken with a heavenly host of flavors that were spiced nice with not too much heat (would've posted pictures but they were devoured). The curried goat had a beautiful aroma and bouquet of curry flavors but was also not over powered with spicy heat. And the Ox Tail...... drool worthy, savory, tender, and stewed with love and effection. We both shared sides of coconut rice and steamed cabbage which were perfectly complements to our dishes. I add that point because if you know New Orleans food, you'll know how discerning native New Orleanians are about food - period. Upon arrival to Good Religion, I was a little shocked by the look and it being in NY; however, I am accustomed to good food from unassuming places. I will admit I am not a fan of buffets, but Good Religion is more than a buffet, it's your auntie's kitchen. There is a difference!
