The atmosphere is laid back, and it's like you're eating with family, and that is the treatment you get as well. The owner of the establishment is the kindest man I've ever seen in my life. My wife and I went one day to eat, but there was a family event happening for a recent graduation. The owner came up to us as we were walking up and told us they were closed, but for us to come in and get food and eat with them. We didn't want to intrude on a personal family event, but it just shows how they treat the people who come to the establishment. First Bite, in Marysville, is an unpretentious restaurant with some of the best Mediterranean cuisine I've ever eaten. Everything is made fresh. The combination plates take some time to prepare--but the wait is well worth it. Our party of four had a pleasant time on the spacious patio savoring the delicious food. There is no obnoxious music playing, so conversation is easy. It is family-run and very family-friendly. While we were there a number of folks with children dropped in to have a beverage or a meal and the vibe is relaxed, gentle, and respectful. On my veggie plate was some of the best hummus, falafel, and baba ghanoush I've ever had, and the tabouli salad was tangy and so obviously not made in bulk ahead of time. Others in our party had kabobs and a wrap--all said their food was flavorful and fresh. Prices are very reasonable. Also, a nice touch was that our food was served on real earthenware plates, although the utensils are plastic, which is understandable. We'll be back, the next time we pass through Marysville. My first time trying Mediterranean food. I came in with a party of twelve and the owner heard me say I have never tried lamb before and he let me sample it. Probably because he just knew we'd all like it! The owner created such a family and welcoming atmosphere. That was nice! The food though, omg it was delicious. I have now been there twice, outside the appearance in non-pretentious, inside it is clean and cheerful. the Mediterranean vegetable meal was excellent, the pastrami sandwich was very tasty , the Chicken Shawarma was as good as any I've had in the Mediterranean. The Bustrami with fries is mouthwatering. He flavors the fries and i found them to be exceptional, better than any I have had in this area. I got the Lamb kebab wrap which came with fries. Also got to choose 2 additional sides from a list of 4 or 5 options. I chose hummus and baba ghanoush. Husband got the Beef kebab wrap. The food was very tasty. I don't think we spoke to each other for the first few minutes because we just kept eating! The meats were tender and juicy, but we both agreed that the flavor and texture of the lamb was our favorite. The sides we picked were creamy and refreshing and the fries were hot and crispy. Everything we ate was made fresh to order by the friendly owner. After taking our order at the counter, he asked us how spicy we liked our foods and checked in on us during our meal to make sure we were happy with everything. You could tell that this gentleman really cares about his food and his customers. Me thinking: "Why is this place called 'First Bite'?" I was passing by Marysville today to do some work there, and I came across this Middle Eastern restaurant owned by a great man called Khalid. And I must say he was very welcoming and hospitable. He suggested I try his lamb shawarma, which was absolutely mind-blowing and flavorful. I live in Sacramento and can very comfortably say that his shawarma is better than any of the spots I tried in Sacramento. It had the authentic flavor of a Middle Eastern shawarma. The lamb meat was very tender, and the seasoning was great. The meal also came with fries, baba gnoush, and hummus. All of them were amazing. The fries were crispy, and they had a good flavor to them. The baba ganoush had that beautifully charred eggplant flavor, and the hummus was very creamy and delicious. Overall, my experience was great, and I would drive to try this place again, maybe with some family members as well. The restaurant had a lovely patio outside and was very clean. I would recommend it for anyone craving to try some authentic Middle Eastern flavors or for anyone who wants to try something new, not to mention that they have some American cuisine options on the menu.
