I just opened an account with First Bank after a couple of people I know recommended them. I didn't get a good first impression.
When I walked in, I told the lady at the info desk that I was there to open a checking account. She went to find someone who could help me. I heard the woman in the first office say that she was on lunch and didn't want to be bothered. The second lady she asked looked at me and then asked her to help me with it. I was dressed for work, so I don't think I looked bad or anything. The impression I got was that nobody wanted to be bothered with it. I was going to walk out, but I stayed because my old bank was starting to charge fees for things that used to be free and, after all, I had gotten some good recommendations.
At any rate, the lady helped me open my account and was very pleasant about it. The woman who was on lunch came out of her office and went around me a couple of times doing things at the info desk and didn't even acknowledge my presence. I definitely won't be talking to her about anything.
Now that I've been a customer for a month or so, I feel better about things and the staff has been more pleasant. I think it'll be OK. read more
