The staff has been nothing but rude, difficult and made closing my mom's accounts a horrible experience after her passing. No one should have to be treated like this or go through this during such a difficult time in their lives, yet the inconsiderate staff at the Bartlett location has done a fantastic job of causing me unnecessary duress while still not getting the job done in a timely fashion. As a matter of fact, this entire operation is beginning to feel slightly shady as if because I would prefer to take my business elsewhere, they're choosing to not accept the perfectly acceptable and legal paperwork that's been repeatedly presented to them! As a matter of fact it's been acceptable at Associated Bank, who I will happily do business with. So what's the holdup? Why so glum and in particularly rude? I would never do business with 5th 3rd and I cannot believe that the Chicago Blackhawks are sponsored by them. I went into the branch and met Yunus, an extremely helpful and qualified representative. He told me everything looked OK as far as how the account was opened and all the requirements were met. He was puzzled why the bonus wasn't paid out. He asked me to be patient and give him a few days and he will advance the issue to a review team to resolve the issue. Two days later, he followed up with a call saying that the issue is under review. The next day, the $400 promotional bonus was put in my new checking account. I was so impressed with how helpful and knowledgeable Yunus is! After I opened my account and paid for the safe deposit box, I thought everything was set. Then, a month later, I received a notice that I had not paid for my safety deposit box and they were going to close down my safe deposit box subscription. apparently the person who opened my account did something wrong. I went to the bank twice to get this straightened out, but I kept getting billed for the safe deposit box. I was afraid to put anything into the safe deposit box for fear that they would close it down and take my possessions. Finally, I went in and told them to forget it, and that I wanted to close my account and get my money back for the safe deposit box fee. I was told that they would do this and I would receive a refund, but there was even a problem doing that. The West Chicago branch management didn't help me and multiple calls to the main office didn't help either. Finally, a very helpful person at the Wheaton branch managed to get my money back for me. I would never recommend this bank to anyone.
