I'm a sucker for businesses that play an enduring game, and this location has been servicing TLH autos since the 20s. That's just one generation away from horse/buggies. A few nights back, we were out to dinner (shocker) and the rain was intensifying. The wipers were clearly in need of changing as the last time new wipers were put on the van was before it was titled - to anyone! Normally, this would be the sort of thing I'd handle at an auto parts store myself, but in this case the rain was coming down uncharacteristically hard so I pulled in and bought the two blades ($50. small price to pay for the convenience of clarity on a rainy night). I was about to put them on myself when the salesman said they'd be happy to handle the installation. Great! - $5 tip later, and we were on our way. This served ONE important purpose. I had never been in this store before but have certainly driven by it countless times, admiring the deco curvature of the streetside frontage. Having come in and experienced the service firsthand, I'll reconsider next time I shop for anything that these folks can offer. read more

Probably the slowest service I've ever experienced at this chain. Yes, I know it was the weekend following Thanksgiving. Yes, I know there are current labor shortages. Yes, I'm aware that their location is smaller than I'm accustomed to. Still, there comes a point that it crosses the line to a point of ridiculousness. I had called on Black Friday to get an oil change done. It sounded like sheer chaos and they told me point blank they'd prefer if I made an appointment for the following day. Okay, no problem. I wake up early and drop my car off around 8 AM. They tell me it'll be ready in 30-45 minutes. We head out and go to breakfast. We come back and the car hasn't even been moved. Cue being told they'd take an hour and a half. Okay, whatever - off to yoga I go. By the end of yoga, l receive a phone call about my car and whether or not I want to replace my air filter as well. Fine, do it. Another hour or so, we are practically reaching noon and that's when I finally get the call that my car is ready. I go and just like the morning there is no one up front. I had to call the staff as it seems they were hiding in the back room. The guy who attended me seriously looked like he either was having the worst day ever or hated his job. No idea. I paid, got my keys, and fortunately for me, they serviced my car correctly because seriously four hours for an oil change and a new air filter? Come on now! read more

Firestone Store #3557 (North Monroe) had the vehicle for 46 days combined to fix an AC issue. Not once but twice we were told the repair was complete. Both times the vehicle was picked up and the AC is still not blowing cold air. Staff members were rude. District Regional Management was contacted and also failed to resolve this problem. I was evacuating New Orleans alone with my dog due to Hurricane Ida and made a last minute appointment for 2 PM this past weekend to patch up a tire that had a slow leak and was losing a lot of air. I was driving through on my way to stay with family in SW Florida and was so worried I would pop a tire on the highway. I arrived 2 and a half hours late to my appointment due to the crazy traffic from everyone evacuating and they were still able to replace my tire in like 30 minutes and didn't try to swindle me into any additional fees or unnecessary service, as some auto shops tend to try since I'm a young female with little knowledge about automobiles! They even let me bring my dog in the waiting area and charge my phone while they fixed my tire. The guy at the front desk was very compassionate and understanding. I felt so relieved to have them fix my tire and really appreciate their amazing service! Great piece of mind for me amidst a stressful and overwhelming weekend!!! Thank you so much! read more

Had appointment today at 12. Dropped off truck at 10 for rotate balance and alignment. 4:15pm - still waiting on them to finish. Just like what one of their reps told another customer about a dealership while we were here.... If they aren't making money on it, they don't want to work on it. For starters, you will get ripped off. Spent a ridiculous amount of money just to change the front brakes, including pads, rotor, & calipers. I could have bought the front & back pads, rotors, & calipers, than went to my local mechanic and have him do the front and back for damn near the same price. Also to mention when I left their was a weird noise in the front end. Take it back couple days later, they said "everything's right & looks good!" BS!! Took it to furrin thinking it was the struts or something of that nature, they tell me the front brake pads weren't seating correctly. My over all experience at this place was, they over charge, and clearly don't know how to do it correctly. Trust me this is NOT the place to go to. read more

If an option for no stars existed, that's what I would give this location. I was in Tallahassee for the weekend when my purchased-new vehicle that was less than one year old ran hot at a red light. It just so happened that Firestone was 50 feet away, so that's where I stopped. The parking lot was full, the garage was open, and employees and customers were present. A Saturday, all information online indicated hours from 8-6. It had just turned 5PM. I approached the front counter, told the employee that I lived 4.5 hours away, that my car ran hot, and asked if he would mind doing a quick check to see if it was a simple, obvious fix. His response: "No." I asked why and he said, "Because we're closed." I pointed out that customers were everywhere and work was still clearly being done. His response: "Sorry, can't help you" and picked up a business card on which he wrote "Todd Bogota (sp?), General Manager; 8-5"). I walked out, at a loss as to what to do, and proceeded to pop the hood to do an inspection myself in Firestone's parking lot. Thirty minutes later, TB walked outside and said I could leave my vehicle there overnight. I told him thanks, but no thanks, and that I'd have a tow there soon. I, then, took an Uber to another location to wait on word from the tow company. Fast forward 2 hours later. I arrived back at Firestone to meet the tow truck and TB was JUST LOCKING UP. Two hours after stating they were closed. The tow truck arrived to tow my car and I vowed to myself to never give Firestone on Monroe St any of my business. I have never experienced such terrible customer service. read more

My mother had a potential car checked out here prior to purchasing, at the recommendation of the dealership selling the car (her normal mechanic was closed). They said it was in great condition, and she purchased it. 15 miles later it's clear that the car is a lemon (with issues that other mechanics have since said should have been obvious) and has cost thousands within the first month just to keep in running. Maybe these guys are good for other functions, but be weary having them inspect cars for potential purchase, I think they may be in the pocket of at least one (if not more) dealerships in town. read more

Do. NOT. Take your car here. I have given these people not one, not two, but three tries (okay, so I'm a glutton for punishment!) and my last experience was the final straw. I brought my car in for a tune up, and about a week later noticed that she was missing on one cylinder. So I took the car back to Firestone who, despite their "best efforts", were unable to figure out what the problem was. My dad then decided to take matters into his own hands, drive over to Tallahassee from Jacksonville, and take a look at the car himself. It took him two minutes to figure out the problem: an ignition wire had come loose! My father then made me promise never to return to Firestone. No problem, Dad. DO NOT GO HERE. They are dishonest, and I can't believe the extent of their lies! My husband normally does most of the maintenance on our vehicles, but I've been sick so he can't take time to do those typical repairs, oil changes, etc.. My husband took his truck in to be inspected, and Firestone told him the front brakes were in failure. They wanted $500 to replace the front brake pads and rotors. Being mechanically minded, my husband decided to inspect them himself. They were not anywhere near failure, and I'm attaching the picture one of the brake pads supposedly in "failure." (Note, when the brake pad is completely gone down to the plate, that is a failure. When the brake pad is about halfway used up, then you should consider replacing them and at least have that as something you monitor.) This brake pad is only about 1/4-1/3 used up, so it is 100% not in failure by ANY means. This business is not trustworthy, and I recommend everyone to STEER CLEAR. (Pun intended) read more

Poor customer service. The attitude and how they speak with their customers should be addressed both in person and in the phone. I had new tires put on my vehicle and when I got my car back they were missing all the air valve caps. There are numerous scratches on my vehicle as well. I knew there wouldn't be anything they would do for me based on the customer service I was provided up to that point. I will chalk it up to a loss and poor research on my part. I would just like to warn others to heed with caution. I was a loyal customer of the FS in Port Orange, FL. The manager, Brad, was amazing there and his entire staff provided excellent service. I just moved to Tallahassee and this store was an utter disappointment. I will not return. I gave them two stars for the tires I purchased and they put in but that's it. read more

I took my 911 Porsche in to have a front end alignment because I was having trouble finding anywhere else that could do it due to its age. While it took a couple of hours, it turned out excellent. I had already tried and failed at two other places to get an alignment including the Porsche dealer here in town. Don't know about regular maintenance, but they do good front-end alignment work. read more

WARNING!!! Do not go here!!! Bill was the only one that kept the business running ship-shape. He has gone and the customer service and just plain WORK product has gone down. Got $600+ dollars of work done on my car. Took longer than expected because they ordered the wrong part initially. They ordered the right control arm when it was the left that needed replacing, and to make matters worse they were the ones who had diagnosed it as having a broken left control arm. I even told them what side it was but they still ordered the wrong part. I also got an oil change done and a taillight fixed. If I had not kept calling them all Monday to check on my cars status (after it had been there since Friday) then it would not have gotten done for another few days. Worst part is, today I went to drive to work and it struggled to start and was making the WORST noise ever and violently shaking. So now I have to take it back to them and find out what they did to my car!! DO NOT Take your car here if you have another option. read more

Well the price to get an oil change isn't too bad if you print a coupon from online... but they did forget to replace my power steering cap after checking the fluids. Of course, I didn't realize until after I left. When I called to ask about it they couldn't find it, but I'm pretty sure no one even bothered to look. On my way home in Jacksonville from vacation in Alabama, I got off I-10 at Tallahassee for gas and food for my family. After starting my car in the Chick-Fil-La parking lot, there was a loud whining noise and steam came out from the hood. It was 4:30pm on a Saturday so I knew there was very little time to have the car fixed. I first went to Tuffy and they said it was too late to take me with only an hour to go before their closing time. So I limped along to Firestone at the 501 North Monroe Street location thinking that I had no radiator fluid left and my engine was going to overheat any second based on all green fluid I left in the Chick-Fil-La parking lot. Tony Alexander helped me - he was great, very competent, calm (as opposed to me), and efficient. My family sat on the floor for a while because they were very busy with 5 customers in front of me. Still, within 30 minutes they got my car looked at and Tony said it wasn't my radiator but my A/C line had come apart. We talked about what they could do and I said to please fix anything to let me get home to Jax. Later, he said my A/C Compressor was shot. I couldn't believe it since my Toyota dealer in Jax had just installed a brand new compressor before I left on vacation about 10 days before. Anyway, they fixed the car so we could get home. The price was very reasonable. We got home and later I took the car to my Toyota dealer. Tony was right, the A/C Compressor was shot and my Toyota dealer replaced it for free. Long story short, I was in a bad spot. I had engine lights on, green fluid all over my engine compartment and it was 4:30pm on a Saturday. Tuffy had already declined to look at it and my family was looking at local hotels to stay at for the night. Pulling into this store and working with Tony Alexander was the best thing that's happened to me for auto care in a very, very long time. They helped me despite having 5 customers ahead of me with 90 minutes left to go on a Saturday. This is a story I'm telling my friends and acquaintances and I'm definitely giving my local Firestone store a try for maintaining my car from now on.. read more

Brought my vehicle (Lexus IS300) in today to have a tire replaced and when I arrived to pick it up it was sitting in the parking lot with the window down in the rain with the key in the ignition left in the on position draining my battery and free for anyone to take. On top of all of that they broke my factory key fob and didn't bother to mention that to me either. I've never had a shop treat my vehicle so poorly and I will never give Firestone on N Monroe the opportunity to do so again. read more

Stay away! Stay away! My neice took her car here for the heater not working. The engine did come up to temperature but did not overheat. They replaced a perfectly good thermostat for $250 which of course didn't fix the problem. Then they suggested the radiator for another $500 & said if that didn't do it the next step would be the heater core for another $700. Clearly they have no idea what they are doing, unless they are trying to rob people! Stay away! read more

Consistently takes much longer for them to complete work than they say. Every time I've gone there, I've waited at least a couple of hours past what I was told. And it always comes with the same excuse: "We're running a little behind." And this always happens, even if I call the day before and schedule an appointment. This place is terrible. My vehicle had died and I was new to town so there weren't many options. They somehow forgot to reattach a hose and screwed up the engine. They also fleeced me on the pricing for the repair -- perhaps $500 more than other shops. Avoid this place like a disease. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! I went here for an oil change once and they found a leaking brake caliper on the rear of the car. They replaced both calipers on the rear and they worked fine for about a week. Then a rattling noise was coming from both back rear wheels. I took it back there, since they have a lifetime warranty, and they could find no problem. They put grease on the caliper bushings and I left thinking everything was ok. A week later the rattling noise came back. I took it back again and their suggestion was that the bushings are bad and specifically told me to take it to the dealership because there was nothing they could do about it. So, I did just what they said only to get to the dealership and find out that Firestone has put the wrong brake calipers on the car, and not only that, the rear brakes have not been stopping the car this whole time! So after spending $800 on "new" brakes from Firestone I'm now having to spend another $800 at the dealership to have them put "real" brakes on. I also took the car once before the brake job to have them check why the engine light was coming on and giving me a code for the EVAP system. They hooked their code reader up and said they have no idea. Didn't even look at what the problem might be, just told me to take it to the dealership again and have them do a smoke test on the car. After taking it to the dealership for that problem they quickly found it was the PCV valve and quickly changed it out. No more EVAP problems. The dealership also pointed out that whoever had been changing the oil (FIRESTONE) was not putting the cover back on correctly underneath the car and they had clipped it back on with homemade clips rather than using the proper screws that hold it to the bottom of the car. So, after being told by Firestone each time that I need to take it to the dealership, I'm finally taking their word and no longer giving them business. And if I were you I would do the same thing. Stay away from this place! FAR, FAR AWAY!!! They don't even deserve the one star I gave them! read more
