Awful service, took my car for a belt serpentine replacement because it started to shred and came out that my water pump was faulty, they gave me an estimate for labor and parts of almost $900 which I thought it was too much, I asked them to leave it as it is and I was going to take my car elsewhere, I went to pick my car and paid $9.99 for the inspection, popped the hood and discovered that they removed my old belt and didn't put it back as it was when I arrived, I asked service advisor "Genaro" why they removed it and didn't put it back, he said because it was too dangerous for me to drive which I understand, I told him that that would be my problem and please to put my belt back as it was which he refused, then asked me if I was going to pay the mechanics a "tip" for it which I found weird since I didn't ask for any service after they gave me my estimate, long story short "Genaro" was very rude and walked to my car and tossed my belt on top of my hood and left and said "this is what I get for trying to help people" I don't recommend this location, please be aware of scammers and rude people, now I have to pay for a tow truck to tow my vehicle. read more

Went in earlier this week during the afternoon to purchase new tires for the winter and it's almost as if the store was abandoned I seen little movement in the shop and the sales men were no where to be found. Do Not waste your time making an appointment online. I got a email saying that my appointment was confirmed. I arrive for my oil change appointment and Victor politely tells me the online system schedules appointments without knowing what the shop actually has going on. Victor said that he tried to call, but I never got a message, nor do I have any missed calls today. Victor was unable to accommodate my confirmed oil change appointment and told me he would be happy to schedule me for another day. Glad I didn't take a day off of work to get my oil changed here. Victor and his team at Firestone Complete Auto Care in La Grange did another great job for me - this time repairing a tire which had a nail in it and was slowly leaking. He was professional, clear, honest and very timely in getting the tire repaired. In all honesty, I have been to this Firestone a number of times over the years as we keep our cars running well into the 200,000 mile range. I have purchased new tires from them, had them repair a tire or two, and helped my elderly father get a couple of new tires from them. They are always professional and honest about quality, necessity, pricing, and timing to complete a repair. I highly recommend this Firestone business. read more

I have been a regular customer since 2006. They were great until the last two years. I have four cars and usually am there every 2-3 months for maintenance or repairs. We have had to have brakes replaced due to poor replacement ( no charge) , oil change that almost negated our dealer warranty due to oil leaking due to poor work and now they will not repair a nail in a tire and say the tire needs to be replaced. My family has been complaining for a year and I was the one to keep giving them another chance. I recommend them fo tires only. read more

Wish I can give negative stars. The $500 brake job on my front end was a joke. I was told my life was in danger when a mechanic at NTB inspected the front brakes after six months of use. Went back to Firestone on a Sunday, they were amazed at how bad the rotors and pads were gouged and replaced it under warranty two days later. They improperly put my car on the lift, thus damaging the skid plate bracket. When I saw them take the car out with something hanging down, I knew they had done it. I don't go off-roading and it takes A LOT of force to damage ABS plastic, not driving over debris (which I haven't done). They first claimed they didn't do it. When I said it wasn't like that the day before, they said the car was like that on Sunday, but they just didn't notify me that it was damaged. I said they must have damaged it on Sunday then. They said nope. It's plastic for all I care, I just hate their lies. read more

I had been going to this FIRESTONE for at least 8 years and they used to be great on everything. However, during this last year or so, it has gone downhill in all areas. This past January, I was having an issue with my car not starting and I took it to the FIRESTONE in Lagrange, just like I had so many times before and I gave them all the details of the issue , including the suggestion by AAA that it could be the starter because when the AAA guy tapped on the starter , my car started immediately. Firestone recommended that I have a $49.99 diagnostic test that maybe could tell us something. After they ran it and they told me that they couldn't figure out what it was and that it was maybe the weather. Less than a week later my car wouldn't start again and so I took it back and they told me that the there is no way to know if the starter is going out other than getting a different more detailed diagnostic test hat would cost $100 and maybe that could tell us. So I was like if you knew that why would you have me pay for this $49 diagnostic test just a week before? They basically had a patronizing tone to their answer and said that's all they can do. Also, while there, it seemed the service representative was having a personal argument with one of the mechanics which I thought was very unprofessional. I also asked if I could just have the starter changed w/o the test and they told me I would have to sign a waiver that states they are not recommending that . So I took my car back and took it to another shop in Downers grove that was absolutely 100% better in customer service and mechanical service. I also felt that I was listened to from the very beginning which Firestone did not. I explained the issue and said I'd like to have the starter changed and they said it could be the starter but it would make sense to just change it and not pay hundreds of dollars in diagnostic test that could or could not tell us. So they changed he starter and my car has been fine since. I won't be going back to this -specific -FIRESTONE in Lagrange ever again. read more

This place is awful!!! Do not take your car here!! They tried to rip me off by making me pay for an alignment job even though I have unlimited alignment with them. They left my car in worse shape than when I brought it in. I am also down a quarter tank which means they ripped my car up and Down the street before returning it to me. These guys are your typical chain chop mechanics. That said, from my experience they are solid, and their customer service is excellent. However, in their zeal for what they "feel" is right, they over tightened my lug nuts far past spec (like 150lbs/ft, on a lug that requires 58-72lbs/ft... for someone trying to change a flat tire, the little wrench in your trunk can't give you more than 75lbs/ft of torque). Basically, I would've needed a breaker bar to get my lugs off. Surprisingly, when I brought it back and asked them to change it to my spec, the guy who actually did the original work apologized because he felt more comfortable with the higher torque he applied to my lugs.I appreciate when someone's heart is in the right place, looking out to avoid potential disasters, but I prefer when someone puts ego on the shelf and makes sure they are following spec specific to my car - not their gut. Regardless, for tire related stuff I can heartily recommend them. read more

After doing research of other nearby places, this was the most affordable place for me to get new tires, by a landslide. I was able to get an appointment when I wanted (I requested about a week before), the only bit of trouble was with the turnaround time. The website says you'll hear back within 4-24 hours, and when I requested on a Friday at 1230, I didn't hear back until Wednesday (with Memorial Day in between). Other than that, no problems. Friendly staff, they got my tires changed, and other minor services completed in one hour while I waited. I would definitely go here again, but would recommend a call if you require service more urgently. read more

Their waiting area is never overwhelming or overly crowded with people coughing everywhere.....not dirty or greasy. I appreciate that. They have a television, along with good magazines, hot coffee and free wifi. Victor behind the counter was friendly and professional. My wait time was 3 hours, with a small fee to fix my flat tire. They were kind enough to offer a ride to my house if I didn't want to wait (but I needed a ride back, so my husband can give me a lift.) I took then up on their offer since I live close by. It may be a little cheaper at discount tire across the street, but I feel the quality is a little better at firestone. This is my 3rd visit at this location and I have never had a problem. read more

I had a slow leak in my tire and asked for it to be repaired. I was contacted within an hour and told the tire was unrepairable because the leak was too close to the sidewall. I said I did not want an unmatched tire and told them I would pick it up. To their credit, they did not charge me labor which I offered to pay. It was obvious they had not looked at the tire. The tire pressure from the electronic sensor had not changed from the level when I dropped it off, meaning they did not really check for the leak or even bother to fill up the air before I picked it up. Next day, I took it to my local garage and they repaired the "unrepairable" tire for a whopping $34. Buyer beware, Firestone is business of selling tires, not repairing them. read more

I had an awful experience with this location. I requested a replacement service on my rear brakes, they completed the job and did a courtesy check on the car and they told me my alternator and battery needed to be replaced as well. I was confused and tried to tell them they were just replaced last year but they still recommended service. I politely declined and went to start my car to drive it home and it failed to start. I told the service members that this has never happened before and they insisted it needed to be replaced. I was skeptical and took it to Pep Boys to be checked again and they told me everything was completely fine, the battery just was low on charge. Easy to say I will never be returning to this Firestone location and will be warning my friends as well. read more

Time to buy new tires for my truck. My GF recently bought tires here and we had a good experience. So when it came time to replace my tires we headed back to Firestone. Bought a set of Destination A/T's. Tough tire with really good reviews. The staff is young kids doing there job. I opted out of all the add ons they offered. I told them to check my rear brakes when they had it up on the rack. They called me back and said my rear brakes were shot. I ask how much to fix and they say $530. Are you kidding me? Needless to say I didn't have them do the work. I went to Autozone, bought all the parts; drums, shoes, hardware kits, etc. Cost me $150. Took it home and in 1.5 hours I redid the rear brakes. In talking to the sales guy they charge $106 per hour for labor. So even if they take two hours to redo the brakes, they are charging $300+ for the parts. Yikes! I'll use and recommend them for tires, but not for service. Cheers! read more

I show up at 7:45 am on Sunday, August 30, 2015. I have an emergency. I was supposed to be in Springfield in an hour. Woke up early to go see my son and notice that my tire is flat. I see that this place opens at 8am so I make sure that I get there so I can get in and out. All I need is a tire plug. The guy behind the counter refuses to help me. He says that they are way too busy to deal with someone who does not have an appointment. It takes 10, maybe 15 minutes to repair a flat tire. I even offered to pay double. Refused to help me. Never will I set foot in this place again. Discount Tire for all of my tire needs. If they were open on Sunday's, I wouldn't have even considered this place. STAY AWAY!!! read more

I got into this particular location at 4pm, was told that i would be in and out, if they could actually fix my headlight, i waited almost 2 hours for service and completion. I was charged 60 bucks to fix a headlight! The salesperson was very professional about the matter, and i didnt argue at all about the price because i couldnt have fixed it myself! read more

They say the customer is always right. However, in this case - I was wrong. Wrong in having chosen this Firestone location in Countryside. I chose this place based on the type of wheel balancing (road force) I was seeking, price and location. I got there prior to my scheduled 10am appt. only to be told that they could not get to my wheels until 1p. REALLY?! So what is the point in committing to a schedule? As I had already un-mounted the wheels on the respective car and hauled them along with the new tires, I opted to leave them at their shop. I was advised I would get a call, once completed. Mind you, They assured me they would be done, as I needed to get to work. Not having received a call, I drove to the shop and got there at about 1:40 pm. To my surprise, they had not even started on my job. The gentleman I spoke to acknowledged that they failed to complete the job by the stated 1p completion time. He wanted another hour to complete it. COME ON! Don't you think that that you had enough time between the 10am scheduled appointment time that your facility agreed to and the time I got there to pick them up? I advised him that I had counted on them having the wheels ready so that I could drive back home and reinstall them prior to starting work. While having made an effort to "make it right", I declined. What's the point in giving a business, that apparently doesn't value a customer's time and patronage, the satisfaction of being a hero in a circumstance that they created? How about just doing right the first time! I had to reschedule an appointment the following day for an alignment (which was to have been done elsewhere) due to their inability of completing the job. So in essence, two wasted days! Thanks, Firestone of Countryside! Who knows - maybe a mount and balance job doesn't offer the opportunity to upsell other services and, thus, not a priority in their workload. I could have been a new customer. But now - a never customer. After some additional research, I found a local, family owned shop that did the work - efficiently and professionally! My wife spent $300 for a front brake job in summer 2009. We had the front pads and rotors replaced on her 2005 Mazda3. It has been one year since the work was completed; and while the brakes are performing as expected, it is apparent that the work isn't complete. When the car is first driven after sitting overnight, the brakes squeal very loud for the first few revolutions of the wheels. The only explanation for this is that the anti-squeak shims were not installed when the pads were replaced. We went to Firestone thinking we would have saved money compared to a Mazda dealer. Our experience with Firestone just proved to us that if we want the work done correctly with a parts and labor guarantee, just stick with OEM parts and service. Boo Firestone...we'll be going to Pugi Mazda for any work on the Mazda3. read more

This time I waited two hours for an oil change, despite having an appointment. the wiper blades they installed stick up over the hood and do not completely wipe the window. they called two days later with questions because they had difficulty with fleet billing. Two more days later, the store manager called and left a voice mail message that if I did not call back to resolve the billing issue, she would report as an auto theft. read more

I went in for just an oil change. I was then told I needed to replace my control arm and break pads. I was also told I need to do additional maintenance. The quote was over 1600 dollars. They didn't even take me to my car to show me what was supposedly wrong with it. I went to a local shop for a second opinion and was told that nothing was wrong with my car and I didn't need anything besides some new break pads after my next oil change. I have been a happy customer for over a year going to this same location in la grange/ countryside, but NOT ANY MORE. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION!! IT HAS BEEN GOING DOWN HILL. (as others have mentioned) I took my 2005 Jeep liberty to replace my catalytic converters LAST FALL (2017) and you would think that for over $1500 they would at least last me a year. But no 6-7 months later the same P0420 code came up. went for a second opinion in Brookfield to check out my car and those guys told me (FIRESTONE) did a cheap job and they couldn't believe how much I had paid. went back to firestone to see about the warranty on their cheap job and they are now giving me the runaround that their only diagnostic guy is always out or over booked. youre telling me only one guy in that place knows how to plug in the scanner and read the codes?? I went there because they were good and honest at one time. I went there for a power steering fluid leak. I come out of there with lower ball joints with play in them. Then on the way home, I got a block away from the place and upper radiator hose blew off! Those hose clamp looked like it was cut, but either the new mechanic Jose on Lagrange was stupid and forgot to tighten the radiator cap or he cut the clamp so the system filled up with air to sabotage my head gasket. Then when I got back there. They told me they supposedly forgot to put on my receipt that my rear differential drain plug was missing and there was supposedly no fluid in there. I had it checked elsewhere 2 weeks ago, and I do not believe I was driving 200 miles a week with no differential fluid and no plug. I think either he forgot to tighten the plug after checking it and it came off when I was driving home or he purposely took it off to cause more damage. He actually looked like a lying crook. Then, to make matters worse, they have another stupid a- - mechanic named Jose from the Bridgeview location working thete. He's another moron that should not be a mechanic. I had problems with him for 2 years spending hundreds of dollars trying to get that idiot to fix the problem, for which he always said nothing was wrong. The problem got so bad, I went back to the Bridgeview location, and it turns out they got a new guy named Muhammed. Muhammed figured out the problem in 10 minutes, after 2 years of hell. It was the engine mounts. Those 2 Jose' need to be fired and be stripped of their ASE certifications read more

Experiences in the past have been better. After this last visit I will go for my rotation and alignments but that is it. Last week I went in for rotation / alignment and full car inspection. Recommened that I have new tires, struts, breaks and fuel cleaner. I knew that breaks were needed soon so with winter coming had them do that and the cheap $8-$9 fuel cleaner they put in the car, not the $60-$80 or whatever it was thing they were going to do. I get home and do realize that yes I do need tires soon, again with winter coming get them now. I ordered and had them shipped from Tire Rack. Yesterday - 8 days after my last vist I drop the car off for about 45 mins for the tires, go back and they tell me that there are recomendations ( I thought it was odd since I was just there 8 DAYS ago!! Anyway, never brought up the struts which I believe I do not need anyway but brought up the fuel cleaner again, I tell the guy I was just here 8 days ago and had the $8-$9 one done. Then tells me I need my battery cleaned, I said no, if it was not needed 8 days ago with my full inspection I do not need it today. Also recomended a cabin air filter, once again I told him, if I did not need it 8 days ago I do not need it today. I know I do not need a cabin air filter, I just changed it 2 months ago. This tells me right here they are trying to screw me and get more $ out of me. In 8 days between visits there should have been 0 new recomondations. Going there only for the basics now and will take my car elsewhere for anything else needed. read more

Avoid at all costs! They will damage your vehicle and not say a word about it, leaving you to find out on your own. They will charge you for repairs that do not resolve your issue and require you to bring your vehicle to a proper mechanic. This is a particularly terrible Firestone with no redeeming qualities and they have lost my business, and hopefully I can prevent you from going through the same nonsense. My wife and I made an appointment here and dropped off our car in the morning, they said it would be ready by 5pm and they would call during the day to let us know what needed to be done. They neglected to call at all to update us, so we had to call in and ask what was going on with the repairs. They sounded like they hadn't even looked at the car yet and had to call us back. We went to pick up car at 6pm that was supposed to be ready at 5pm and they had failed to do the work they had proposed. We waited there another 30 minutes while they put the tire on that was supposed to be done hours before. I should have read the countless reviews below that reported similar experiences.
