I stopped into this shop at 6:00pm after getting a flat tire indicator on the way in from Chicago. I had my dog in the car, as I had just driven her to an emergency vet appointment. After explaining the situation, Nick and Ed were so extremely kind to me, I told them I needed to be sure to make it home, because I had my dog with me, and we'd already had an ordeal that day. They popped my car up and inspected all wheels for leaks. In the end, it was a faulty indicator light, and they didn't even make a tire sale. I can't say how much it meant to me how kind they were, allowing me and my dog to sit and wait inside the facility while they inspected all my tires. And I felt so terrible that I wasted their time. But they were so considerate and I said I would truly drive down for my next set of tires or brakes because of how they treated us! Thanks Ed and Nick. read more

I'm glad I looked at the reviews. I schedule an appointment for 3 today but went in to see if we can get in earlier. When I entered, two guys were talking at their computer. I barely made it out but he asked "can I help you?" At first I didn't know if he was talking to me or someone else since he made no eye contact with me. I asked him if we can bring our car in now and he just smile at his screen and said "you'll wait." There was no indication how long. I the said I scheduled an appointment at 3pm and he just smiled at his screen and said I have 5 in front of you. I asked if it is best to wait, and he responded with a smile...yes at his screen and condescendingly said "um, yeah." This made my decision much easier to cancel my appointment and wait for a mechanic on Monday. My ultimate thought was that if he treated a potential customer like this now, how would he treat my car and anything that may be wrong with it. In order to avoid future confrontation, I am taking the higher road and choosing someone more respectful. read more

This was by the far the worst customer service experience. Walking into the store we were met with sly rude comments from Jacob who was very unprofessional and seemed as if he was high on narcotics. He immediately became dysregulated and overwhelmed once I informed him that this would be a claim through Silver Rock. The next morning I called to inquire about the diagnostic test and was told by Jacob that vehicle was test drove and that Peter got the vehicle to duplicate the problem and error code. P2138 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch D/E Voltage Correlation, which caused my vehicle to lose power/go into "limp mode" in rush hour traffic. Well Jacob was overheard by Peter who got on the phone and immediately changed the story saying the vehicle has no codes and could be picked up. I explained that if the issue was not fixed, the error code would return and that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. Peter went back and forth arguing that I would have to wait for the vehicle to be rechecked on Monday. I drove 160 miles that day to pick up my vehicle. I wanted to leave this review on Yelp and tell others to avoid this business altogether. Zero stars for the worst service ever. DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE OR TRICYCLE TO THIS PLACE! Run! read more

I've gone to this location quite a few times and never any major issues. I see bad reviews, but I haven't experienced anything that would make me stop coming. I took off 1 star due to : I paid for a complete auto care package and they checked off that they checked my mini lights, but they never told me 1 needed to be replaced. I noticed 1 was burned out a week ago and didn't think I needed to remember to tell them. Seeing that it was part of their list, makes me question how thorough they are. All the other technicians weren't busy so there were about 5 guys standing around my car at one point. I poked my head out asking what was wrong since they were huddling around my car. EDIT: I had to go back a couple days later for a detached muffler and they changed the light for free. Also they forgot to staple the courtesy checklist to my receipt and after 5 minutes on the phone with a guy there, he finally agreed to email it to me. Grateful for that. I was there 3 hours for an oil change and rear brakes... Seems kinda long, but not sure. Eric at the front desk was polite through the chaoticness of phone and front desk duties. read more

I requested an appointment online for which a 4:30pm time slot was open, for a brake light change. The appointment was available and I submitted the request and never heard back from Firestone to confirm it. When I reached out several hours later, the employee told me they couldn't accept a 4:30 appointment because they close at 5pm. Not sure why the time slot is offered if they are unwilling to accept basic appointments at this time of day. They also told me that at this time there is nobody to buy parts if needed. I'm pretty sure there is a brake light on site, and that it wouldn't take 30 minutes to change a bulb. Besides these points, the fact that they couldn't even respond to my appointment request for hours and prevented me from taking my vehicle elsewhere has left me stuck driving unsafely with no brake lights. Have some respect for your customers, especially your loyal ones who come to you often for services. read more

First off, kudos to the manager who offered a free oil change as part of a fund raising silent auction. This is the ONLY reason for a second star! Now, on to the service. I'm torn with this review, as this shop is very close to my work, and would be extremely convenient for service. Alas, here are my woes... I came in for an oil change, and all seemed to go well. Dropped off the car, and received a call in an hour or so that it was done. Drove out, and felt like I'd be good for another 6,000 miles. Oddly, the sticker noted another change in only 4,000 miles! My mind wandered to what the tech was thinking - I paid extra for Synthetic oil, which should have a longer life! Just 1-1/2 weeks later, an odd greasy slick on my driveway. My new car (9 months old) was defective, so I took it to the dealer. This dealer asked if I had an oil change recently, checked, and found TWO major, engine killing problems! First, the leak was from a barely hand-tightened oil plug. Leaking oil, and eventually draining from the engine if it wasn't caught. I go on road trips from time to time, and had the plug come out on one of these, the engine would have run dry and been destroyed. Second, even with the leaking oil, the level was overfilled! Did this tech even know what an engine was, or what purpose oil served? So this was not only three strikes (loose plug, overfilled, and wrong mileage schedule), I have to wonder if he even put in the correct oil! Will my car have issues because this same inept, unsupervised tech put incorrect oil in my car?! To top it off, I mentioned this to a co-worker, who was stopped in her tracks! She said "That's exactly what happened when I took a car there years ago! We found our car leaking oil, and it was a loose drain plug!" Though they tried to boost my confidence with decent customer service and a refund, I'm debating changing my oil again this week just to be sure it's the correct type. Sleeping on it, I am very uncomfortable that everything is set with the oil. Their refund will be re-spent, and an extra 3 hours was wasted messing around to find the problem. I hit a pothole and blew out my tire on my way to work. After hours of a series of unfortunate events in freezing temperatures including someone trying to change my tire but failing, waiting over an hour and a half for roadside assistance for them to just cancel the rescue etc I felt totally helpless and exhausted. I called the nearby Firestone and Dan was the helpful comfort I needed all along. He not only gave me the number for a tow company that could help change my tire, but he personally came to check on my car before I could get on the road. Once I got to Firestone, he was incredibly helpful and had my tire replaced and realigned in no time. I highly recommend this business for their helpfulness, professionalism, care, and efficiency! read more

I hardly ever leave reviews, but I'm so disappointed in the dishonesty of this shop. They tried HARD to cheat us out of about $700-$800. We went to have our brake pads replaced, and they told us we needed all new brake pads, brake rotors, and a new battery, totaling $1200 dollars. We were flabbergasted, especially since we just replaced our front brakes at another shop a year ago. We tried to tell them this, and they started dancing around the issue saying 'they didn't know what to tell us, but our brakes felt hot to the touch.' We left and got a second opinion at another, locally-owned shop. We just needed back brake pads and rotors. They said the front ones were good for another year, at least, and our battery was also fine. Total, it cost us $350. read more

After I dropped off the vehicle and asked the customer service rep to diagnose the check engine light, perform an oil change, and rotate the tires I received a voicemail from the store asking me what the make/model of my car was. Seriously, I had just dropped it off and left the keys with them and instead of looking out the window or even just listening to me the first time, they called to ask what vehicle I wanted service on after I left it with them! I came back the next morning to make sure they knew which vehicle it was (yes, it's as ridiculous as it sounds) and after a search for my keys they acknowledged that I had indeed brought the vehicle that they had in their parking lot. Whew... mystery solved! This was all a minor annoyance, but it did leave me with the feeling that this place is very poorly run. Now on to the major issue. After receiving a call with an update on the reason for the check engine light they told me that the Mass Air Flow Sensor was bad and needed to be replaced. As a reasonably mechanical person, I know that this is a $100 part and takes around 15 minutes to replace, but that they often just need to be cleaned with a special spray cleaner and the replacement is not always necessary. The rep on the phone quoted me over $400 for this job, which I took as a personal insult and borderline unethical / predatory. I told him not to do the job and that I'd come and get the vehicle. When I picked up the vehicle, I told him how I felt about the price that he quoted me for the job and was left with the feeling that he really didn't care and that I could take it or leave it. Then he told me that he was charging me $100 for a diagnostic fee, which consists of the tech hooking up the computer to find the fault code. I told him that I didn't think it was right to charge me $100 for a 5 minute job to hook up the computer, and again he was indifferent. At this point I had lost all confidence in the locations ability to perform honest service, and so I directly asked the customer service rep if they had actually diagnosed the mass air flow sensor as requiring replacement or if they just assumed it was bad after they found the fault code. He confirmed that they had actually diagnosed it and were not just going to replace the part without first confirming that the part was bad. I then reconfirmed by asking the direct questions "did you clean the sensor" as part of the diagnosis process? He confirmed that yes the technician had cleaned the sensor and that after cleaning the sensor the fault code persisted. I paid for my oil change and the $100 diagnostic fee and left. At home, I removed the sensor, cleaned it properly and reinstalled the sensor (took me about 15 minutes in all). This fixed the problem! The check engine light went out, and after hooking up my computer I saw that all fault codes were gone. This sequence of events leaves me to believe that one of the two following statements must be true. 1. The technician did not actually diagnose the senor nor did he clean it, and then LIED to the customer service rep. 2. The customer service rep LIED to me about the actual diagnosis and cleaning of the sensor. read more

The older gentleman with the white hair was actually pretty rude about having the tire pressure checked. Never in my life have I been treated so badly by somebody in the service industry. He told me that it would be at least 30 minutes to have the pressure on my tires checked. That was after he told me they were busy and I stated I didn't mind waiting a little while. For the love of god, please don't go here. I brought my car in for an oil change and maintenance check. They told me my gasket was leaking, which I had never noticed before, but I agreed to have them fix it. I took it home, and there was a HUGE oil puddle on my driveway the next day. I came in 4 MORE TIMES to have them fix this issue because my car kept leaking, then they finally got it right. My car never leaked before bringing it here, they created an issue that was never there. Never going back here, very dishonest and not reliable mechanics. read more

My son and I took his car to Firestone after being recommended to them by AutoZone. When we arrived I specifically said, we are here because the guys at AutoZone said you can help us figure out what is wrong with the car for $20. Miguel took all my info, said they would take a look and call me. I received the diagnosis and chose not to have the repair done at that time. When my son's father went to pick up the car, he was charged $106 for the diagnosis work. When the clerk was questioned about the fee, he called Miguel who was not in the shop at the time. Miguel told the clerk that I "was well aware of the charge" - which is completely untrue and counters what I specifically said when I dropped off the car. I wouldn't have left the car if I knew it cost $106 just to try to figure out what was wrong. I have since come to find out that Firestone is a national client of AutoZone and AutoZone employees highly recommend people go to Firestone when AutoZone cannot help them. The entire experience was disappointing and I will go back to GearHeads in the future, which is where I should have gone to start with, but had a full book of appointments on this particular day. read more

Was in due to a leak in my rear right tire - had to inflate the tire every other day for the last 6 weeks or so. Brought car in with that chief complaint. Juan, the technician/mechanic came out and showed me a tire with a leak in it that he alleges could not be fixed because of the location at the edge of the tire . . I'd need a new tire! I confirmed if it was the rear right tire and he said that it wasn't, it was the left rear tire!! I have had no issues with the left rear tire all the time that I was inflating and reinflating the right rear tire the previous 6 weeks! Juan claimed that he had glazed the right rear tire but could not find a leak. So the front office person said that they would dunk the right rear tire under water to check. Sure enough, he came back saying that there was a leak in the right rear tire - as I had indicated there was, but guess what, it was on the edge of the tire, too, so could not be fixed and I'd need a new tire also. Odd that I came in with a leak in the right rear tire that the mechanic could not find initially, but found a leak on the left rear (?) Why was he checking the left rear? So I ended up having to purchase 2 new tires!!! Not only is the quality of care questionable, so is the ethics and integrity of the people who work there! Additionally, I also had numerous problems with my headlights . . . for some reason . . . all, allegedly fixed/replaced at this Firestone facility! I wrote them a letter and have not received the courtesy of a response. The QUALITY of care and the ETHICS and INTEGRITY of the people who work at this Firestone facility in Glen Ellyn is QUESTIONABLE. Do not service your vehicle there! I went in to get a wheel allignment and to have them inspect a noise that was coming from my front wheel area. Upon completion the sales person Tom reviewed with myself all this extensive work that had to be done to fix a wheel bearing. His excessive estimate came in at $575.00. This seemed quite high as I have had this common problem before. So I took it to a more reputable auto shop. He fixed my wheel bearing for $254.00 and the problem was fixed. This excessive estimate is fraudulent practice which is unlawful as he lead me to believe that I needed more work than was necessary. Just wanted to alert everyone to avoid this business. read more

I had bought my tires there and went for a tire rotation. When I picked my car up again, I noticed that at 30 miles p hr my whole steering wheel was vibrating! I went back to the store and the agent first tried to blame the vibration on the car and then he said, that I should have told him to balance the tires, which they had not done! Excuse me, tire rotation without balancing and giving the customer the car back after a lousy job? Then arguing with the customer? Worse place ever. I changed all four tires less than a month ago. They sold me an insurance along with them and I spend about 800 bucks. Last Friday, my front tire just blew before getting onto the freeway. It was a traumatic experience. I got towed to their facilities in Downers Grove. When I went to pick up my car, I was told I had to pay for the tire. I thought this was so unfair since I haven't had this tire not even a month and purchased the insurance. Their explanation was that they couldn't prove that the tire was defective. I spoke to a manager and he told me there was nothing they can do. I didn't want to fight, but I never go back to Firestone. I will go to Micheline tire or any other competitor. If anyone asks me about Firestone, I'll make sure they know about my bad experience with them. So unfair. Only because I wasn't rude or fight with their staff, I was charged for this tire. read more

I had a visiting friend who had an older VW that had several lights out, a check engine light on, and that hadn't had an oil change in quite a while. We called Firestone and I requested a complete inspection, replacement of burned out bulbs, and an oil change. I dropped the car off at Noon on a Saturday and had it back by 5. In total, there was a front headlight out, a front fog light, and a rear turn signal. With the exception of the fog light, which was pricey, the rest of the light replacements seemed very reasonable. The check engine light was due to a part that needed to be replaced. Done. The oil change and filter replacements were all very reasonable. The inspection uncovered several other issues that my friend will have to decide what to do next. The service tech prioritized the items for us and there was low pressure by him for us to get it done immediately, despite his warning that a few of the items could turn into more serious problems down the road. I've been here before for tire work and I feel like they've always been honest, fair, and respectful. read more

this place is a total ripoff, that does shoddy work. first time i went they replaced a fuse block that powered the blower motor, the motor went out in january, i was freezing and went there for convenience. they tried to charge me like 340 for the fuse and install....said it was a special part, and it was very hard to access and install......i look over on the computer desk when the guy is ringing me up...and i see that the part costs 80 bucks on the invoice from infiniti of lisle (thankfully they have open style kiosk registers) and they were charging me 180.......i pointed this out to him...he stammered, then blushed...then went to talk to his manager....he came back and the part suddenly cost 115...........i paid and off i went. so about a year later i'm having them flush and fill my transmission fluid.....i'm confident this is a basic service they can't try to gouge me on.....they do the job..ok...about 4 hours later i'm driving toward home and the gears start slipping......really odd....lucky i'm home right after it starts happening....i pull into the driveway and transmission fluid is spewing all over my driveway.......f'ng firestone !!!! i call a tow truck, tow it to Beard Auto on Ogden (great place), they look at it and tell me the goobs at firestone forgot to clamp the transmission hose back on.....so it slipped off and all the fluid ran out....luckily i was home before it all did, they could have destroyed my transmission. i called them the next day and explained everything, the manager agrees to refund my money for the service......that was it ! i told the mgr...how about the tow truck bill ??? how about the loss of time??? how about the potential damage to my car??? nothing. that place is pretty bad, i honestly would hesitate to let them put air in my tires. go to midas down the road in wheaton, honest place, good work. read more

Buyer beware. I recently brought my car in for a standard oil change, and was told by a service writer named Josh that I needed two new tires: One, he said, had a nail in it. The other, he told me, had a jagged piece of metal in it. As is my normal custom, I brought it all the way out to Arlington Heights, where a mechanic friend gave me a second opinion... No nail. No jagged metal. Both tires were in perfect condition. Not only did Josh flat-out lie to me to try getting unnecessary repairs made to my vehicle, but the oil change alone was $40. Anyone who knows the standard cost of an oil change knows that's about double what you pay anywhere else. I'll never come here again, and it's specifically because of Josh and his lying. read more

I can't say enough positive about Firestone. I always trust them to be honest with me about what I really need to get done vs what is optional and not a safety hazard. Today, I brought in my car to have a drivers side headlight bulb changed (which I know we could've done ourselves, but time was a priority with being 9 months pregnant), which was quoted as around 200 dollars with time and labor. However, when I picked up my car, they said one of the connector wires just needed to be reconnected, the lightbulb was totally fine, and they didn't charge me for anything. I really appreciate their honesty, as I'm sure many other companies would have still charged me for the lightbulb change as I would never know. There are so few car places you can truly trust, and I recommend Firestone to everyone! read more

I am surprised to see all of these negative reviews but I think that is from the old management days. They have a new store manager named Ado and he is absolutely the best! I have sent multiple family and friends to him and everyone has been taken care of without any complaints! They do good work for outstanding prices. They also do a good job of explaining any work the car needs or work that they recommend. Also, if you have a big purchase, I totally recommend the Firestone credit card, helped out a ton! Go see Ado and if he isn't there ask for Charles! They have a great team and I highly recommend them to anyone! They even work on German cars! read more

Went to this place for changed oil. The guy told me the wiper needs to be changed. Ok he charged me 9.99 each plus labor to put it for $6. Never even ask if I want it he just charged me. Isn't putting wiper is free (just asking). Wish I know how to put it or I should have went to differemt store maybe its free. This shop was very flexible about arranging my appointment for new tire install. I had to change it a couple of different times, both without issue. There was no attempted up-sell on the tires I had picked. The work was done well and completed when promised. Between the telephone, dropping off, and picking up, all of the staff were friendly and professional. I would go back for tires without hesitation. read more
