This place used to be decent but be warned. This place is now the most unprofessional. The employees are the most incompetent. I am picking up my car now after leaving it here Saturday. It's now tuesday evening. I was told I would receive a call early monday. I never received a call. I called monday around 3:00pm because I got tired of waiting. They had absolutely no idea what's going on with my brakes. I was again told I would receive a call sometime this afternoon. Again I received no call. So I showed up after work and still nobody knows anything and it was simply brought in for a break inspection. WOW Never again. I towed the car here with a break issue with the brakes grinding instead of pushing the car.The guy jumps in and starts driving the car. It's been here 4 days. I'm finally waiting on AAA to tow it somewhere else.This place is literally ridiculous. When I finally got tired of waiting yesterday and called the guy in charge he told me I'm going to need new brakes and rotors for starters. The funny thing is my brakes and rotors are brand new. Purchased 4 new tires for my daughters car. $800 and they tell me she doesn't have hazards insurance. Costco gives road hazard free with any tire purchase. They also didn't have time to fix her flat and she had to make an appointment for the next day. Once they looked at the tire (around 3000 miles in it since our purchase) he says it's not repairable. The nail is 2 inches in from the sidewall. This tire was repaired by another ship with a patch at Car X. Total lack of service and honesty. Never again. read more

These guys are the BIGGEST CROOKS EVER. My girl had an outer and inner tie rod replaced on the same side of car. This car has rack and pinion steering. Stop nut and tie rod end are removed after tie rod has been broke free. Inner is removed after outer and the boot is taken off. These guys have lifts and all the tools they need. I looked up Ford factory parts and the outer tie rod was 31.99$. They charged her 80.99. OEM was only 20$! Inner is 36.99 and they charged 113.99$!! This is the most ridiculous markup I've ever seen. This entire job can be done in an hour on a lift. Fords book time is 1.75 hrs. I have done both tie rods removing and replacing the tire in 2 hrs using jack and stands. Total job for tie rods...... 572.98$. Most job really should of cost is 350$. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE PEOPLE. The worst of all this is charging her to align a car that new tires are going on in a week. Tie rods can be gauged just by stop nuts and amount of threads. Once again..... run people. Unless of course, it's winter, no garage, and you need it done that day on Sunday. I should've known by the reviews these people don't know what they're doing. Got my car towed here to simply replace a shock screw and a tire. They ended up puncturing my oil pan under the car to the point it had to be replaced. Mario told me it would be ready Monday. It wasn't until Tuesday then when I get it back my car is driving totally different and shaking a lot and nobody seems to know why. They think it was "already like that." No. Shut this place down. My steering wheel feels stiff as fuck and you mean to tell me after y'all did "alignment" it's just like that. The store manager Mario hasn't hit me back nor was he there when I came to pick it up. This is the second time I have had very bad service at this location. I can't believe this store is still open and Firestone headquarters is okay with this. I should've believed the low reviews on Yelp and stayed away. I fully understand there are tough times around the world right now with short staff but the customer service I received was unacceptable. I went to this store today, Dec 5, at 10am for a simple tire installation and didn't get my car back until almost 2:30pm. I can understand that days can be busy but the complete lack of communication and lack of effort by the rep was ridiculous. My car wasn't even pulled into a slot until around 1:30pm.. What was the point of making the appointment in advance? and the Rep told me the wrong estimate time multiple times. At first he said 90 minutes, so I assume around 11:30, but then when I call at 12:30, he said "they are about to pull the car in now". Are you kidding me?! and then when I got to the shop at 1:30 they had only gotten 1 tire off the car. They definitely did not keep their third promise of "Right on Time". And then when I finally leave and get on the highway, My car's low tire pressure sign comes on, while I am on the highway and already stressed from being 2 hours late. So they didn't keep their first promise of "Fixed Right". Absolute mess. Will not be coming back here. Will be recommending others to NOT go here ever. I just wanted to share my feelings about Firestone Complete Auto Care in Des Plaines. I have been using them for all my auto repairs and needs, I went in there within the last 6 months to just have some air put in my tires, every time I was told the air is out of service or the air is broke when in fact I see them using it on other cars. There was an man there by the name of Marco who was very rude to my wife and I and would not help us, I saw him when leaving he was laughing to with his other workers that I had asked to have air put in my tires. My thoughts are if I needed auto repair, when they can make tons of money they would be glad to help. Think before going to Firestone for anything !!! read more

I had a VALID ONE YEAR nationwide warranty from a Firestone sister company on my alignment and he didn't want to help, He just bitched me out for 20 minutes on the phone telling me his guy's can't work on my truck for "Free" and that i'll have to just buy a new alignment WTF ??? My wife went in with steering issues. They told her the rack and pinion broke and it sliced the power steering line and it would cost $1,800. We read the horrible reviews on that Firestone and decided to go local. The local shop said the rack and pinion was fine. $340 later, they replaced the power steering lines, refilled the fluids, gave us a loaner and the car was running perfectly. read more

This place has a feel of employees working on commission. Never once did my $750 purchase feel appreciated. Instead there were continuous attempts at up-sells. Prices are ridiculous and they give employees wiggle-room on the pricing, so you know something is up. They decided not to do my free alignment check when I bought 4 tires because they wanted me to come back to buy struts. Also left paint marker on each tire. I left a review on the survey and was told I'd be contacted, but that didn't happen either. Two other customers were told they would need additional parts/labor th they came for while I was waiting. I'm not accusing anyone, but this is suspect. I brought my car in for a completely different matter. I get a call saying the alternator and battery are both going bad. I told the guy on the phone that I did not want it fixed today. So I get to the store to pick up my car to leave after having work done on what I initially brought it in for and my car doesn't crank. Absolute con job! Took my car for an oil change only to have my engine bone dry days later since they left my plug loose. I take it back to them and after an inspection they want me to hand them $600 because my "valve gaskets are bad and need to be replaced." I refuse and go pick up my car. Before I go home, I pop my hood and my engine cover is missing. I bring it to their attention and they have 3 out of the 4 screws to put the cover back on and tell me that's how I brought it to them. Really? They pay no attention to detail and take advantage of those who don't know any better. First and only time I use FireStone. Beware, your $30 oil change can turn into a $600 repair..... I had my car inspected after the fact at a different location and turns out there is no issue. Why did they offer to replace parts that didn't need to be replaced? Sketchiest place ever! They will nickel and dime you for any money you have. Charged me $9.99 for a brake inspection and I went there to get new brakes and got them there! How is that possible? They Wanted $2.99 per bulb and $12 labor per license bulb to put new ones in---really? That should be free or $2.99 total not $30 for 1 minute of your time. They told me my rotors would be $90 a piece. I asked what brand because that seems high and the manager said he had no clue. Go to their website and it says they only use one brand. One brand of rotors--so if you don't know the one brand you are installing for the last 10 years you are cheating customers or an idiot. Then I examined them myself and wholesale they cost $12.99 a piece. What a mark up!!!! They will tell you need calibration and adjustments that cost $40 here and $30 there and they do nothing but lube a rod and spin a tire---trust me I know. Avoid those costs, avoid the little stuff and avoid this Firestone or be prepared to be bent over. Even with a coupon, they will stick you- avoid. read more

I took my 2012 jetta GLI and,the guy" Jose" worked on my car and all four points where you are suppose to lift the car from apparently he did not see them, and he bent the undercarriage right next to the fender. I told MIKE about the bent and he said they did not do it,clearly the bents were not there before,the paint is cracked and is right where the fenders are. Bought a full set of run flat tires. Had a blowout on one tire about a year later. Had the car towed to Firestone just before they closed for the day, and the counter representative said the tire would be covered under warranty. The next day I get a call from the manager saying the car was ready, but I really needed an alignment for $80. I said go ahead and do it and went to pick up the car. When I got there he told me the tire wasn't covered under warranty and I owed $230. I asked why the other person said it was covered, and the manager said "my guy didn't say that". I said that he did, and why wouldn't you tell me that when you called to tell me it was ready? Because he wanted to soak me for even more money. My 2010 Mazda3 arrived here, bruised and battered as a result of 5 years of rough downtown Chicago driving. My car now feels like new. They fixed my alignment, replaced my tires, changed my oil, replaced my battery, and loosened the tension on my brake pedal (brakes were too touchy). Know what else? They flat out told me that changing my transmission fluid would be unnecessary, which saved me the $$$ that would have been wasted at a competitor. They were efficient and flexible, permitting me to walk in and have service done that day (on a Saturday). They gave me every discount possible and were offering better deals than 3 other competitors. The only criticism I have is that the associate we spoke with seemed super down on life, but that appeared to have no bearing on quality of work on the car. Yay for Firestone. read more

After 30k miles they were bald so I took them in and they wouldn't honor the warranty because I didn't take my car to them for rotation and alignments. Came in for an alignment on my 95 Jetta and specifically mentioned the fact that VW factory service manual says to ONLY adjust the right tie rod. The manager dismissed my comment and said "We'll do whatever the manufacturer recommends". As I'm watching them do the work, they adjust the left (which is supposed to stay a certain exact length per VW factory service manual). I work on my own cars, I brought a picture of the manual, and he dismissed me and screwed up the job. Avoid these guys, plenty of much better mechanics out there. All around the best auto repair shop I have ever come across and I have been to a lot! The staff is so friendly and kind and ultimately want to get you the best deal possible. I have never been to a mechanic who doesn't fib to get you to do extra work... But the general manager Niko was so honest and trustworthy. He told me honestly what problems were not necessary to fix and what were needed to repair ASAP. And he always gave me the best prices and through in some extra work at no cost! Went to this place for a nail in my tire. The guy advised me my brakes were shot and he can't believe I didn't hear them squeak as I was driving up. Advised me they could be fixed for $680. I was thinking I was there just for a nail in my tire. Thinking in my head I should be on Dateline or something I decided to get them checked out by my regular auto guy. Today I had an alignment done was was all prepared to pay the $89 charge when the manager said "no charge". He had looked me up in the computer and saw that 10 years ago I purchased a lifetime alignment for my car. I forgot about doing that, and I don't even have the paperwork anymore. He could have easily charged me the quoted price but instead they did the work at no charge. How's that for honesty? And my car was ready earlier than promised. read more
