I have reviewed this location for Firestone recently and then went to a auto parts store and had the battery tested along with the alternator and the starter and they told me that what I was told at Firestone Crystal Lake was basically bullshit in their own words that were different than what I just said! On top of that effort to make more money for a service not needed. I was also told that I needed to replace one or more of my tire pressure system sensors at $120 or so a piece and that is bullshit too so, this place enjoys taking advantage of what cars do naturally when there's a cold snap and then charge their customers accordingly just to make their wallets fatter or maybe just to keep the store running! Let me preface this by saying this location wasn't always this untrustworthy. I have always had a gut feeling the techs here would do something deliberately to my vehicle just to get more money. Well I decided to listen to my gut after I took my car in to get a sensor read. They told me my oxygen sensor needed to be replaced and my exhaust pipe flange needed to be replaced as well. The total was $611 plus the cost of the diagnostic which was maybe $95. I went in to pick up my car to ask questions the old man there had a problem. When he went to ask Corey if he wanted to explain the guy shook his head no. Decided to take my vehicle to a very trustworthy mechanic who is not part of a crap corporation. He checked and said someone left sensors unattached. Hmm I wonder how that happened. So he reset everything for us and guess what, my car was fine. Paid the gentleman $40 and he assured me I shouldn't have an issue with those sensors for a bit. This location is a joke. I will be sending this over to corporate. On top of that all of my tire sensors are not registering. Worked perfectly fine before but not anymore. read more

We went in to get a screw removed from a tire. We did not have an appointment. My husband said he would leave his vehicle there and we would come back later since we were just coming in w/o an appointment. The employee told my husband, " We can take care of it right now. I got a bunch of guys back there that are not doing anything right now." So my husband told me to leave since it wasn't going to be long. 50 minutes later, my husband went up to the counter and the same employee said, "Can I help you?" My husband told him to give his key back for his car. Don't tell us, you can fix our tire right away if you cannot. We were willing to leave the vehicle there until someone had time to fix it and YOU told a customer (to let their ride leave) you would tend to it right away since you had employees who were not working on any other vehicles at that moment. If I can rate this business a zero star out of five I would. Horrible customer service. Had an appointment at 10 AM to drop my car off which I did. I called them at 3:30 to get a progress on my vehicle. Which it was supposed to be just an alignment. But come to find out they didn't even pull my car into the garage to start on it. Our 1996 Jeep Cherokee XJ needed a new set of tires, so I went to the www.firestonecompleteautocare.com website, got a quote on a set of Destination A/T's and scheduled an appointment for about a week later. The website worked great. Very easy and straight forward. Received email the next day, confirming my appointment. Received a phone call from Chris the day before my appointment to confirm. After arriving a few minutes prior to my appointment, I was quickly "checked in" and we went over what was being done. The technician confirmed the tire size I selected on the website since they were a slightly larger aspect ratio than the current OEM tires. (from 70 to 75) I also decided on their "lifetime" wheel alignment since I don't think I've ever had the wheels aligned in the 22 years we've owned this Jeep. About an hour and a half later, everything was completed and I headed out with my new tires. The Destination A/T's look and ride great. I went to this Firestone recently for an oil change since I previously went to the Elgin location and was pleased with the service. I requested the same exact service I received in Elgin including the type of oil. When I showed my dad (who did my car maintenance in the past) the paper work from my visit to the Crystal Lake location, he was very disappointed to see I was given a synthetic blend instead of full synthetic (which was requested). We compared paperwork from both visits (which the individual at the counter said he was able to pull up in his computer) and sure enough I was not given the correct oil. Other than that, the appointment went pretty fast. I did not wait long at all. Just wish I got the type of oil I wanted. read more

I highly recommend this place to anyone! Carrie is wonderful and takes great care of her customers! I brought my car in as one of my tires was making an odd noise and I was expecting to pay a bunch of money just to have it looked at. Nope! She was happy to have me bring my car in and to have a technician take a look. Upon inspection an issue was found with my tire. Most places would start throwing a bunch of numbers and crap at you to fix it. Carrie did this but only to let me know how much IF I wanted to fix the issue. However, she was very honest in saying that the issue wasn't one that needed to be fixed. I believe that this is a very honest place to take your vehicle. Carrie is straightforward with you and won't try to get you to spend your money if you don't need to. I have been pleased with my service here and will most definitely be back!!! read more

Yesterday I took my car to Firestone in Crystal lake for run-flat tires. I had done my research online to check prices. Price I was quoted was the same price I found online they weren't any more expensive or cheaper than anybody else there right with everybody else as far as price goes. I applied for a credit card process went really fast I was told I would get an extra discount for the card and I was told that the tires will be ordered and I will get them the next day so far so good thank you John for your courteous assistance. I wasSurprised that I wasn't charged yesterday for the tires. More on my review when I pick up my car. The tires came the next day but I couldn't get to the shop so took it in the following day. Dropped the car off around 10am it was ready 11:15am. Less time then I was told. The price was less then what was quoted. I'm very happy with my experience at Firestone. read more

Run, run, run away! Our car was rumbling very heavily and they gave us an estimate of 250.00 & if we could have afforded it we would have fallen for it. Had my truck towed there to get an alignment. The staff was very rude and short with me. I left my truck and later received a call that a part broke on the truck while they were doing the alignment and they told me I need to come pick up my truck and take it somewhere else because the part needed to be welded. I rolled my truck into the parking lot across the street and popped the part back in. Then rolled it back to firestone and they told me to take my truck somewhere else. Keep in mind I had my car towed there so having it towed again was going to cost more money. I dont know why a buisness would tell me to take my buisness somewhere else when I was asking them to repair something they specialize in. Worst experience ever and I will be sharing this with all my family and friends. Dont go to this location! read more

Dropped off my car at the Crystal Lake IL. Firestone for an oil change on Thursday in preparation for a road trip. Picked it up Thursday evening and the check engine light was on. They said it was on when I brought it in.. it was NOT. They asked if I wanted them to run a diagnostic (for a fee) to which I said NO. I took the car to my mechanic (after returning from my weekend road trip in my wifes car. She was not happy about the extra miles on her car). After checking out the situation, my mechanic saw that the oil cap was missing! He found it inside the engine compartment, installed it, reset the check engine light to off and the problem was fixed. How does a company like Firestone that survives by changing oil (and tires) miss this very basic step!? The part that really upsets me is the fact that they lied about the check engine light! Purposely deceitful and crooked business practice! I wont be going back to Firestone. There are many other better and professional options. read more

I went here because I got a good deal on a set of four tires on their website. They were good with the tires, but then they tried to sell me a TON of work on my car.. They wanted $500 to replace the front brakes and also said I needed new rear wheel bearings.. This is BULL crap as I just had one of those bearings replaced myself. I was able to replace the front discs on my car myself (Only $25 at Oreillys) and I didnt even need rotors.. I normally goto discount tire as they don't sell you stuff you don't need.. I am VERY upset with these guys.. The total repair bill they quoted me was $3000 !!! I didn't even ask for that, I just wanted tires.. Needless to say I wont be going back there... Okay, to start things off, the price they quoted me for my tires was wrong because they didn't even bother checking the size before they quoted my price. I then I got a call later that day that the price of the tires I had chosen went up because of the style and size. I then proceed to say, "okay well then I don't want your tires," to which the repair man told me they had other tires for the same quoted price... this was not much of a problem; the rubber was a little softer (went from a 65,000 mile tire to a 45,000 mile tire) and at this point I was satisfied with my service because they found something that worked and saved me a little money even though the tires were not as good. Now here's the clincher: I have aluminum wheels, and as an ex-mechanic, I know that they tend to leak and sometimes need to be bead-sealed and cleaned up around the rim of the tire.... they did none of this and by the next day my left front tire was flat which means they didn't even check for leaks from the start (we always did this at the shop I worked at in Marengo, with soapy water, no matter what wheel it was. This has been such a waste of my time and money; when I thought i was getting a good deal all it did was add stress and unneeded time to my schedule that I don't have to spare. Hopefully they can get me in tomorrow to fix their mistake without any issues.... I will report on how this problem is handled. read more

When you have amazing customer service, I feel like that's worth sharing. Hats off to Firestone on Rt. 14 in Crystal Lake. Not only did they talk to me like I was an educated person, they put on cartoons for my daughter, plus while my car was getting new tires, they offered to drive us to the hair salon across 14 because the weather was so bad today. They even jokingly reprimanded me for walking back - some very friendly employees and Carlos is great manager. If your car needs something, I would highly recommend them. read more

I've been taking my cars to Firestone for several years now. They have been fantastic!! Prices on repairs have always been comparable to what I've paid at other places. It's true that they give you estimates on anything else they notice needs attention, but they have NEVER pushed me to have them done. In fact, they often tell me to make an appointment if I would like them to do the work. I am very pleased with both staff & service and have never hesitated to recommend them to others. read more

Tried to take advantage of a teenager and her first car. They wanted to charge over $700 to change spark plugs, wires, mass air flow sensor and gasket. Not to mention the ridiculous quotes on the other things they said were wrong with the car. Such as the license plate lights being out they wanted $30 for $5 parts and 5 mins. worth of work. We ended up having them change the gasket and oil which left $500 to change spark plugs, wires and air flow sensor. Parts at auto store totaled $150 and half hour tops to change. They already had to mess with the spark plugs to change the gasket and were charging more to change plugs and wires than the gasket. I do not recommend Firestone, don't trust them. They charge well above the price of the parts and way over estimate and over charge on labor. Beware if you take you car here! read more
