Took one of our cars in that have a broken ball bearing they did everything they could to help us fix it. Next day took our other car in for an oil change and now that car has a heavy oil leak. Where to start! Well let just say I came here for an oil change before my trip to Mexico. I made a point and appointment the day before for 5 PM approximately, I got there and checked in and they didn't have my filter. So the cashier asked a mechanic to go get a filter before they closed. The employees were even arguing about going to pick up the filter, I was like I'll go get the filters if nobody wants to get it! But then one of the mechanics went to get it! So they came back and did my oil change. I would say I've been waiting for about 30 minutes even know I had an appointment. I left after my oil change and noticed about 5 miles that my car was smoking, so I pulled over and called Firestone. They asked if I could come back so they could take a look at it, so I did!!! They look at it and said it's probably because They spelt a little bit of oil on the engine, that If I drive a little it should go away. So I said ok because I'm going to Mexico in the morning!! And they said its will be fine for Mexico. So the next day I'm driving to Mexico I get all the way past about San Diego and it still smoking! So I'm a little worried but thinking okay they said it should go away, finally I get into Mexico and my car shuts off so I'm freaking out cause I'm in Mexico! So someone help me on the side of the road jump my car I finally get to my uncles house, and my car will completely not turn on and it died right when I got there so the whole Time in Mexico I had to walk everywhere because my car wouldn't work! so my car wouldn't start so I had to stay an extra day in Mexico. So the next day my cousin jumped my car and I left back to Newport Beach. I finally get passed the border and I'm car completely shuts off emergency lights didn't work nothing worked I couldn't even turn my key it's also was night time about 10pm and also my car was still smoking!!!! This time a jump start wouldn't work! Thank god I got over the border. I called AAA and had my car towed all the way from the Mexico border to Firestone on 17th St. in Costa Mesa. Are used all of my roadside assistance because Fairystone screwed up! I entire car had oil all over it but I had no oil in my engine! All they did was give me a rental car, new oil change, and a really bad car wash! That's all they did for me, even know they should have paid for AAA, and fixed my paint on my car! My car is ruined because Firestone didn't put the cap on all the way. I still want my far fixed because they completely messed up my Mercedes! -5 STARS! read more

My wife went to this store to get a tire leak plugged. She was overcharged - grossly. $36 for $10 wiper blades, $10 for a $1.50 tire pressure service kit and tried to sell her 2 new tires when the current tread is 3/8". What should have been a $20 stop turned to $84 and an attempt at an additional $475. Disgusted to see this type of business practices. read more

My wife took here mini here for an alignment that was under warranty. They told her she needed new tires. Not true. They told her battery was bad. Not true just got a new one a month ago. They told her her coolant smelled bad. Not true. Basically they were coming up with stuff to suck money out of her. I checked everything when she got home and all was good. read more

The Alignment Experience from Hell - Part One of Three (Firestone) For the sake of full disclosure, I have been a Firestone customer for about a decade. I originally started visiting Firestone in Long Beach, and then about five years ago when I moved to Costa Mesa, took my tire business to this location in Costa Mesa. My wife has a lifetime alignment deal with them and has since Long Beach. When we moved to Costa Mesa, I decided to get one for my car. I think it runs about $125. Over the past couple of years, I have taken my car here multiple times to have them mount and balance my wheels, and align the car. Now granted, they do not do a great job with the alignment. Firestone, no matter which one, never does. They are not that kind of automotive place. They just put the car on the machine, adjust it "within spec" and call it done. It is not bad, but it is certainly not great. I am understanding though. I realize that other than the life time alignment that they sold me, they are not making much money when I visit. They make about $15 per tire for mounting and balancing. I do not buy my tires there, I buy them on TireRack and have them shipped. So given that, my expectations are low. I do not expect a perfect alignment and am willing to cut them some slack though. The reason for the one star review is because they lied to my face about the condition of my vehicle and their inability to take care of it. Despite having been there a good four to five times and never had any complaints about the service, the last time I was there the manager told me that my wheel was damaged and they cannot balance it. Again, for the sake of full disclosure, I have caused more than my fair share of suspension and wheel damage to my vehicles in the 20 years that I have been driving. I have rebuilt suspensions after destroying them. I have cracked wheels from spinning out of control up curbs. In a way, I am lucky to still be alive. (I have never hit another vehicle though... I have only harmed myself with my stupidity, and have since mellowed out considerably). So when the manager told me that my wheel was damaged and needed to be repaired, I was very skeptical. I had not done anything that would have caused it to be damaged. I went back and forth with her a few times to make sure that she was certain that my wheel was damaged and they could not do anything about it. She swore that it was damaged, but conveniently could recommend me to a wheel repair shop. Mmmm hmmm... sure she could. I thanked her for attempting to sort it out and left with my vehicle. I will never set foot back in that store again. The steering wheel was shaking violently. I am lucky that I only had to drive it a few miles on surface streets, at less than 35mph. No way would it have been safe on the freeway. Long story short, the wheel was not broken. Firestone was just too incompetent to balance it correctly. Too incompetent to balance the exact same tires that they had balanced on the exact same wheel multiple times previously. Too incompetent to TELL ME THE TRUTH. And honestly, were I litigious with too much free time on my hands, I could probably have made the case that they needlessly endangered my life due to their incompetence by allowing me to drive such a seriously compromised vehicle off of their property. Firestone lost two customers. Me, who buys my tires online and probably does not generate much revenue for them. And my wife, who religiously buys 4 tires at a time there to the tune of nearly a thousand dollars every couple of years. Firestone has gone down quite a few notches for me. I went in to have them top off my oil. I was told that they don't do that and that I should go to Pep Boys, buy a quart of oil and add it myself. They could have charged me double of what they would charge someone else or told me that they didn't have time, but to tell me to do my own service? They have topped off my oil for me before. I bought all my tires from them, they did a diagostic on my car, and I had them do my last few oil changes and other services. I even recommended them to someone. Bad experience. A simple Oil change took nearly 2 hours after they were slow to begin working on my car at the agreed upon time. They tried to perform extra services I did not ask for without asking me and when I said to button it up, they did without ever telling me the car was ready as it sat. I was never updated on the status of the vehicle. The staff was poorly trained and exhibited no customer service skills. They could not have cared less if I was there or ever came back. So I won't. I've been a loyal customer for over ten years, but no more. They used to have great customer service, but now it is horrible. I've given them so many chances to do better next time, but it never gets better. I've come in five times for the same tire that wont hold air, each time they say it's fixed but never is, and to add insult to injury they always take hours longer than they say it will take. So much went wrong and so many things happened I'll give a long and short version. Short: 8 hours of repair turned into 3 returns and another 1.5 days. Items were left broken (with no attempt to fix or tell me) and repairs not done correctly. However, in their corner Freddy was great with the customer service and in the 3 times I had to return to repair the damage and fix what they did wrong he made it easier. Even with the initial headache, Freddy was so nice that if nothing had been wrong after I picked up my car they would have won back 3 stars instead of 1. Long: THURSDAY: Scheduled an appointment for a major repair on Friday and they guaranteed the parts were in so they could have it done same day by 3pm (I needed my car that evening). FRIDAY: Took my car in at opening. Called FS at 4 as I hadn't heard back from them: part is unavailable/waiting to get it. What?! FS called back at 4:30: got the part, will try to finish that day. FS called at 6: can't finish today, giving a 10% discount. At that point I was frustrated and late to my dinner in LA. I had to push them to give me a lift to the nearest car rental place to use the 10% refund for a car rental and then had to make a firm demand for a pickup the next day. SATURDAY: Confirmed pickup an hour ahead of time. Freddy (1st time dealing with him) answered and told me to call when I arrived. Arrived and called: told Freddy was out so they'd tell him when he returned. Waited 40 minutes and called back. Freddy answered - was back 30 min ago and no one told him. 15 min later I was picked up. 1 hour of waiting at the airport. Picked up my car. Found the leather on my shifter twisted half way off. Freddy had someone "repair" it. Drove away and noticed they made groove marks on it, my gear markings were upside down and there was a loose nut inside that rolled around. Called and Freddy offered to order a replacement. THE NEXT WEEK: Found all the things that were wrong and had to leave my car for the whole day AGAIN: - 4WD shifter was out of place causing me to loose 4WDL capability - Found two screws rolling on my floor. They still don't know what it was from. Makes me feel safe :/ - They fixed the shifter boot they broke. I had hot air shooting at my calf from below the whole two days I had to drive it before the repair. - Replaced lug nut as they returned it to me missing one (had tires replaced) - Gave me a cheap plastic replacement of my leather shifter for the one they ruined but at that point I was over it. Saving grace was that Freddy didn't tell me to go take a hike when I showed him all the issues. No 8-hour repair should ever turn into a 2-week repair but Freddy did a pretty good job of picking up the pieces that the mechanics left behind. They have the customer service, now they need to learn to get ahead of it and do the job correctly and completely the first time through. Communication is key! Telling the customer if they break something and repairing it before the customer finds it creates trust. I don't know if it was lack of internal communication or just with customers, but it was a huge issue for me. If so many things on the outside were done incorrectly and half-way, what about the most important part: under the hood? read more

I must have called at least 20 different auto shops on the best cheap oil change places on yelp in Orange county list and every price was $50-80 or MORE!! Finally found a place that not only has great prices, but a trusted name and great employees. I spoke with Eddie on the phone for my quote and he said for my synthetic oil change it would cost $41.99 (already way cheaper than the others) he then sweetened the deal with a coupon for $10 OFF! Heck yeah! After taxes the total I paid was only $34.28 and it only took 45 minutes. Beat THAT other automotive places that try to upsell you and jack up their oil change prices. read more

Sam was so helpful, I came in with a punctured tire and was already having a bad day but his cheerful smile and the way he greeted me made it not feel as bad. He listened to my concerns, checked out my tired and gave me options, he also told me about the courtesy fluid check. After checking for leaks he explained everything to me and did not pressure me at all or try to add on anything extra like most auto care shops I've been to on other occasions. We patched me tire which barely took any time at all and I was on my way. he said goodbye after I was already helped with just as much enthusiasm. After making an appointment for 4 pm I showed up a few minutes early and was happy to see there was only one car being worked on. I asked the front desk how long a brake service would take and was told about an hour and a half. My car wasn't even moved into the garage until 45 minutes later. When I was told the inspection was done about an hour later I was informed that I should do the standard brake service for the front brakes and a clean line and adjust for the rear brakes. The total quoted to me was $133.22. I agreed to the work. Another 15 minutes went by and I was called back up, told that they forgot to add the brake rotors to the cost and so they quoted me $325. Almost 3 times the original quote. And then they said they actually didn't have the rotors in stock so I would have to come back tomorrow to get the work done. At this point I just wanted to get my car back because it had been longer than they quoted. They gave me the paperwork and closed me out at $0. But they gave me paperwork for the wrong car. I had to go back up and ask for the right paperwork which they couldn't find. All the papers were mixed up between the cars. They told me sorry and they'd have my car ready to go in 15 minutes. I'm still sitting here 45 minutes later. My 1.5 hour brake service took 3 hours to do nothing to my car except tell me to come back tomorrow. What little bit of money you might save from their coupons, isn't worth the amount of time you'll waste at the shop. read more

I brought my Toyota Tundra in yesterday for an oil change, tire alignment and balancing. I woke up this morning to a flat tire on the left driver's side. I arrived late to an appointment I had because I had to go to my local gas station to put air in the tire. It's now 6 hours after I put air in the tire and it's holding without issue. I also noted two air caps missing from where air gets put in. I feel so disappointed in Firestone. My tire is not damaged in any way so im perplexed why my tire lost almost all air. Mind you I live in a gated community in Newport Beach and truck is stored in a garage so unlikely someone compromised our tire. I only drove 6 miles on surface streets to get from Firestone location to my home. I have zero confidence in Firestone! I communicated this to Erin and Dan this morning and no apology offered because in their opinion nothing was done wrong it's out of their control. I'm considering closing the Firestone credit card too. read more

Only reason I'm giving the extra star is due to the service guy being a nice guy and trying two or three times to get the alignment right. I have the lifetime alignment and I brought it in because the vehicle was pulling right (so I had to compensate to the left). This happened last time and they released the vehicle with the issue where I still had to overcompensate to the left. Funny thing is that last time this happened, I ended up bringing it to the one on Bristol and they solved it in one try, ONE TRY. I called them and told them that this is the second time this has happened and last time Bristol solved it in one try, and the guy on the phone said "he tried three times and it keeps pulling right. I don't know what to tell you. The guys at Bristol have the same machine we have." Wtf. Now I have wasted about two hours of my fucking day and it still is pulling right. Just don't go here. They might be nice but if you can't get an alignment right (even though there was no damage on the vehicle when I brought it in) then I'm just spinning my wheels (excuse the pun). read more

I have been coming to this Firestone location for the last 3 years and have yet to have a bad experience. The services that I have done here and can recommend are: oil changes, new tires and brakes. I choose to come here because 1) they are less expensive than the dealer, and more importantly 2) they seem to be honest and do a good job. In the 3 years of coming to this location, I was unsatisfied one time, and the problem was quickly handled by Freddy. I felt that he went above and beyond what was expected when I reached out to him about my complaint. I understand mistakes happen, the most important thing to me is that if a mistake is made, that it is corrected. In addition, there was a time when something on my car was not working properly and they instructed me of a recall that I had missed on my car. They could have easily just fixed it without me ever knowing about the recall. All in all, I would say a great place to get car work done. read more

I got a lifetime alignment plus tire and wheel balance and rotation from Kegan. They gave me a solid discount and quick service. Came back the next day because I heard one tire clicking and the manager Alan promptly had the car checked and re-aligned (I was worried because one of the camber numbers was on the edge of spec). Very professional and courteous and did not try to shill me on any unneeded service. Checked my brakes and told me they were new, which I knew. Excellent service, All caster, camber, toe and cross-camber numbers ended up dead center of spec. The tech/mechanic who worked on my wheels was good. It was nice to have good service from a chain, especailly after my horrible experience at Discount Tire Center in Costa Mesa. Now I will feel comfortable going back to them. Also glad I got the lifetime deal there, because Firestone is located in several states. read more

My family and I have all been bringing our cars to this location and the Fountain Valley location for many years now. Have had nothing to complain about until today. I scheduled an appointment the day before to have my timing belt replaced. When I arrived to drop off I also requested an oil change and tire rotation. Seemed to be no problem. When I called 5 hours later to see if I could come to pick it up I was informed that the mechanic that was supposed to work on my car was bombarded and was not able to even start on my vehicle. Since I could not wait any longer I went to go get it. The guy at the counter couldn't even say sorry or let's reschedule you. He just handed me my key. I don't think I will be going back there anymore. Horrible customer service. A simple apology goes a long way in my book. Too bad to because they were the lowest price in town for the timing belt replacement. read more

This place seemed fine the first time I went. Second time they told me I needed a caliper and the there was something wrong with my breaks. I was a little suspicious but breaks are a big deal so I changed everything they told me to change even though I never noticed anything wrong with my car. This was only an oil change. So after they told the same thing to my husband and we went for it again and paid. We decided not to go back because we read that a lot of people were told the same thing there. Well now I have a great mechanic and guess what ?firestone gave me a defective caliper or perhaps never changed it. How I found out I needed a new one? The break light in my car went on. So if Firestone tries to tell you there is something wrong with your breaks, don't believe them if your break light is not on. Please save your time and go somewhere else. I went in to get my brakes done on Friday and the guy out the counter was very helpful got my car back inform me something but nothing to worry about but I come back and hour later they weren't busy when I dropped my car off I come back they didn't even have one side done three mechanics were on the backside of my vehicle talking and playing around and when they saw me they should probably start to work and shortly after I looked through the class and their arm wrestle instead ofworking on my car and it shows they're not worry about your time or your business and the manager at front didn't even care that they were playing around do not take your vehicle here these people could care less read more
