I hit some object on RTE 29 on Saturday night. My tire ripped to shreds and lost immediate pressure on my 5 month vehicle. I drove to Firestone to see the manager James, as he was pleasant a few years back. James wasn't in at the time, but Chaz was friendly and insightful about my tire. I wasn't able to get a tire and took right out. But Chaz said that I could lever my rim and they would contact me upon arrival of y new tire. I missed the call , but I called to find out if they were able to help me.. I have a demanding job with slightly longer hours and would be to the center around 20 minutes to close.. The store had always been great to me. I just brought my car in and they communicated well with me. I had accidentally left my daughter's lunch in the car. It had died while we were driving. They actually had the nerve to eat my daughter's lunch. They took a can of Diet Coke and some goldfish and some other assorted stuff and then left her sandwich. I wouldn't expect this out of the shop that is servicing your car. read more

This store sucks. They dont synchronize with online appointment. Once confirmed they ask to change appointment to next day, asked what time next day ....said anytime. I went at 10:30 to get my vehicle fixed and came to know they cannot get it done while I will wait and asked me to leave the car. I've bought three sets of tires for two different cars from this store, and was satisfied enough to go back a fourth time. It will be my last. I was preparing for a long trip, and during recent rains I found my tires were losing traction even though there was a fair amount of tread left. I called this store and found they had the tires I needed and could get me out by 11am the next day if I came in at 9am. I was there promptly at 9am, and the guy behind the desk told me he could have me done by noon or a little later. I explained that wasn't what I was told on the phone and was getting ready to leave since I needed to be somewhere by 1130a. He then changed his tune and said he could have me done by 11am and maybe a little sooner. I trusted him and handed over the keys. I waited in the waiting room for about 20 minutes and decided to take a walk. When I left, I saw that my car was already on the lift. I was feeling justifiably optimistic. I got back at 1030a, and saw it was still on the lift. Now the story was I could get the car by by 1130a. I was visibly not happy, and I'm not typically an angry person. I got my car back at 1125a. There were now two men behind the counter. The new one knew I wasn't happy and said they set up the sale so I could qualify for the Friday BOGO free offer. Just watch for an e-mail. It never came. I did get an e-mail from Firestone asking how the purchase went. It said I had five days to reply, but I was locked out on day 4. If they had been straight up with me when I first arrived, I could have rescheduled. Instead, I missed an event that was important to me. There are plenty of places to buy tires. As someone else noted, what's the point of a reservation system if you're just going to ignore it?!? The employees were pleasant. The waiting area was OK - actually, the chairs were a bit more comfortable than other Firestone waiting areas I've been in. There was a TV that was too loud. Coffee with sugar and creamer. The restroom was very clean. But you know, to sit and wait for nearly two hours for something as simple as a front-end alignment (which they actually did not do, ultimately), is just ridiculous. If my SIL didn't have lifetime alignment, I wouldn't have come here at all. read more

They were able to help me with my state inspection the same day, which was awesome. However, later when I turned on my air conditioning, bits of paper were ejected from my ducting. My car is driving fine, so I'm pretty sure nothing else random was left in more sensitive areas of my car. read more

Today, I went in for an estimate of my car (There is a small hole under the windshield) and I asked for them to come out and look at it. The 2 employees at the front desk not only did not look at my car, but immediately told me to go to a body shop. I asked them both for some recommendations and they just told me look up many off of Dobbin. Very unhelpful I was hoping to get an actual recommendation. Before I walked away, the one employee proceeded to laugh at me give me "parking tips" on my parking job in the parking lot. Not only was this extremely rude and unprofessional, I did not ask them to WATCH me as I parked and make fun of me for it. Firestone will never be getting my business ever again for the way I was treated by these unprofessional employees. read more

I took my car in for an oil change and was told that my left front tire was completely worn on the outside and needed to be replaced. They said it was due to an alignment problem, but I had just had it aligned by them 10 months before and it was fine then. At the time, I noticed that the car drifted slightly to the left, but it was just aligned so I figured it was ok. So now, 10 months later the left front tire is completely worn, due to poor alignment. Their alignment. The tire is only 2 years old. So I got the front left tire replaced, an alignment, and brake pads. I made the mistake of paying for lifetime alignment, only to realize 2 hours later that they don't know how to do alignments properly! As soon as I drove off, I could tell it was pulling to the right badly. The steering wheel actually turned to the right when I let it go! So I took it back and they realigned it, no explanation and no apology, but they did acknowledge it wasn't aligned correctly the first time. This time I asked for a printout of the measurements but they would only give me the after, not before, because then I would have documentation that they didn't do it right the first time. The measurements don't look great, but they wouldn't explain the numbers to me - just said it was fine as long as it was green. After the 2nd alignment, the car still pulls to the right. We checked the tire pressure to see if that affected it, and found that all 4 were very off. The 3 old tire were each about 5 psi under and the new tire was more that's 5 over. We fixed that, but it still pulled to the right. I took it back in and they said it was fine because the alignment numbers were within the specs. Just barely! It will change lanes if I let the steering wheel go long enough, but they said it was going straight. The manager lied to me about multiple issues, including why the tire pressure was off, and the barely within spec alignment. I pointed out that the camber numbers were really negative and pretty far from each other. (Ideally, they should be identical.) He told me that the left and right camber numbers have nothing to do with each other, which is a lie. Either that, or he knows nothing about alignments! He acts all nice and polite, but when it comes down to it, he really isn't knowledgeable, but sure acts like he is. So now I have to take the car somewhere else to get this fixed, after paying them $180 for an alignment that just made the alignment worse. TLDR: Can't trust these guys. They can't even do a simple alignment correctly. And they will not own up to their mistakes. After 3 visits, my car still pulls to the right. It didn't before. read more

I live near this location so I i finally chose it because of convenience. They replaced a headlight on my car quickly and I was able to make an appt so I wasn't waiting all day. When my car had a more severe issue that was a tougher fix they had to order parts it did take 3 business days to finish, but the ordering of parts took a day. They did keep us updated on the process and were incredibly friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back! read more

My acura Mdx had a weird sound when I drove it. I took it here and they worked on it for a day and decided it needed new struts. However the part was not available and they could not get the old struts back on. They said they would get a rental for me and I had to drive to 3 rental car dealerships before I could get a car because the manager of the firestone kept directing me to the wrong rental place. It took them 1 week to get the parts and another several days to fix it. After I got home after 1 week the sound came back. This time I took it to Norris acura. There they quickly diagnosed a further problem in the control arms that firestone should have told me about. Also the timing belt and water pump were bad. in addition some bolts on the new struts were loose. They fixed everything within a day and the car drives great like when I first bought it. I will not be bringing my cars here anymore. They may be good for tires but that's all. Not anything structural with the car. read more

Well, this use to be my go to shop to get my vehicles worked on. Today, I dropped my vehicle to get the left outer tire rod replaced. I was told that it would be 1:30 before it is ready. I am the 3rd person in the shop. So, we haggled a little he said 1230 cause he has to wait on the parts and they open at 0900. Mind you it is 0857 now. So, I agreed and decided to wait. It is now 1030 and my vehicle still sits untouched. When I inquire how long he says the part just got her at 0930. It is now 1030 and my car still sits. People have been coming in after me coming and going. I am very disappointed. I will be looking for another repair shop. read more

Friends wife had a small hole in her tire, new car with no spare. Had the car towed here to have tire patched. Employees refused to patch the small hole that was 3 inches from the sidewall claiming she had driven on the tire and damaged the sidewall and tried to push $400 worth of tires on them. Husband went to autozone and bought a 4 dollar patch kit. Patched the tire in 3 minutes in the Firestone parking lot and they were on their way. Seems like Firestone was trying to take advantage of the fact that they didn't have a spare tire. The practice of selling people things they don't need is dishonest and doesn't help your reputation. I wouldn't send any friends or family to this location after helping my friends with this situation. Hope this helps someone avoid a similar situation. read more

Great place to get your car serviced! I've gone to this location for both simple and advanced repairs. I had a problem with my fuel pump. The original repair was not completely satisfactory so the had me bring it back. They ordered a new part and now my truck runs great! I purchased 2 new front tires and the lifetime alignment package all total $450.47. I even confirmed a 2nd time that the tires were to be put on the front. After pickup, the vehicle pulled and I noticed the tires were put on the back of my vehicle. I returned the next day to find out that the alignment hadn't bed done and had to wait again and was told there was another $150 charge. I will NOT EVER return to this Firestone dealership and will NOT recommend it either. Horrible experience especially given the Firestone quote in all the shops that says "I believe fundamental honesty is the keystone of business." Maybe THIS shop needs to revisit its mission statement and that of their founder. *Update: The manager of the dealership contacted me promptly to help resolve the situation. The only thing this place has going for it is location. Near the mall in Columbia, so you don't have to wait 4 hours in their waiting room. Way overpriced, service takes too long, and just generally terrible overall. My most recent experience happened the other day when my car started making a noise. I assumed it was a belt needing to be replaced, since that was mentioned the last time I got my oil changed. So since I'm in the area all day and I have an important event the following day what the hey, I'll take it to Firestone. I mean it can't possibly be as bad as I remembered. WRONG. I get my car back and instead of diagnosing it and getting back to us they just replace the belt because 'that's what you wanted'. No, what I wanted was for my car not to sound like a Ricer. However I agreed to a pre-authorization since my husband was picking it up, so no refund for me. Not worth the hassle of a charge back since the belt would have needed to be replaced eventually, but silly me to assume they would call me back say 'this was not the issue, do you want us to fix the belt or the noise or both.' This is certainly not the only issue (and certainly not the most expensive) I've had there but it's the most recent. Would recommend finding a decent independent garage over going to this place. read more

They wanted to make sure that my feeling were heard and that they fixed what was wrong. Called in the morning to schedule at appointment for a mount and balance, alignment, and oil change, 1pm drop off, confirmed a 6pm pickup when I dropped the keys with the desk. I showed up at 6 and it wasn't even started, people seemed to be just sitting around, showed up at 745 still not ready, now it's 8:10, they should be closing and they haven't even started the alignment or finished changing the oil. Looked like no one was working very hard in the shop, no torque sticks being used on people's lugs with the impact gun so they're probably over tightened, and the manager told me each time I came in it would be ready at 6 and then at 8 read more

Took my work vehicle, a 2013 standard American made sedan, here due to a flat tire. It was also due for an oil change and tire rotation, so I asked them to knock that out as well. I was told upon check-in they didn't have the tire in stock, would need to have it delivered, and the vehicle wouldn't be done until 5pm that same day. I found it odd they didn't have a very standard and common tire in stock, but said whatever and let them proceed because I wasn't going to continue risking my safety and that of those around me by driving on a flat. The good news is (and why I gave them 3 stars) they called me at 3pm and said the vehicle repairs/maintenance had been completed and the vehicle was ready for pick-up. I appreciated their swift completion and not having to sit in 5pm traffic. The bad news is (and why I withheld 2 stars) when I entered my vehicle, I noticed large black greasy fingerprints all over the driver's side door and handle. The interior door is light grey leather with white tread, which was previously immaculate, and therefore made these stains visibly noticeable. While this isn't the end of the world, I found it to be somewhat inconsiderate, careless, unprofessional, and rude. I was always taught that you treat other's property equal to or better than your own; especially if you're being compensated to handle their property. They clearly need to implement some sort of proactive measures to safeguard and protect their customer's vehicles and property from stains and damage. I cannot recommend this location enough. I took my car here yesterday for an oil change for the first time. I had called twice- once to make the appt and another to ask if I could change to a later time due to a schedule change on my end. Both times, the person on the phone was articulate and very respectful. When I got there, I was treated very respectfully. I felt like the staff was very presentable, knowledgable, and prompt. They must've taken my car in the second I sat down because a few minutes later I went outside for a phone call and didn't see my car where I left it. The man came over to me before it was done and suggested a few things to fix but made clear that it wasn't urgent but just something to be aware of for the future. I was in and out in probably 30-45 minutes max. As a woman, I usually don't like to get my oil changed and I beg my dad to go take it for me (I'm 26 years old) because everywhere else I've gone, they are usually very demeaning. I usually wait 2-3 hours for an oil change even when I have an appt. I see the men just standing around and taking their time. They don't rotate my tires when I ask them to and they try to sell me things and act like its so urgent to get fixed (until I tell them I'll ask my dad what he thinks and their disposition changes..). Firestone in comparison to the other places I've gone is 1000% better. I will definitely be taking my car here in the future. read more

So if you go back to my 3-6-2017 review you will see that I had a bad experience at this firestone. Guess what? I went back and it went even crazier. So given my extensive review I said at the end of it that you should not spend money at this location. Let me tell you how I ended up back here all because I was being lazy one fine Saturday afternoon. I woke up Saturday and went to the post office in Columbia. Apparently that day everyone had the same idea. I was in the post office from 9:30 am to about 12 because it was so over crowded and only 2 workers were there that day. They did the best they could given the fact they were understaffed. Not too far from the post office is a JIFFY LUBE. I needed an oil change so I said I would swing past the Jiffy Lube and get an oil change there before returning back to my house. Jiffy Lube was crowded when I arrived there so I just said I will go home and come back later. As I am driving home I see the firestone that I had reviewed. I think to myself. "I am tired. I will just drop my keys off and go home and get some rest and come back and get my keys later!". Nothing bad should come from it. I do just that! I drop my keys off at the firestone with no problem and walk home because its not too far from where I live. I get home about 15 mins later and I get a call from the firestone. "Hmmm, that was fast! The guy told me it would not be ready until around 4 pm!". As soon as I pick up the phone the person on the other line starts off talking with such an aggressive tone. One would think I had assaulted him on an earlier occassions. "HELLO! IS THIS TERRENCE TRAFTON!?" Me: Um.. Yes? Firestone Manager: I am the manager here at firestone. Yeah I recognized your name from a review you left a few months ago. I just want to make sure that you want us to service your car because on your review you said people shouldn't spend their money here. Me: Wait! Excuse me? Are you serious right now? I gave you my keys clearly I want my oil changed. Just change my oil.. Firestone Manager: No sir! Are you sure? I want to make sure because maybe you came to the wrong firestone by accident. Clearly you are not happy with the service you received here. Me: Wait wait wait! Lets back up. You are drilling me because your employee tried to jerk me and sell my some expensive ass brakes that I did not need when I already had brand new brakes. When I had my mechanic check to see if it was some kind of malfunction. Only for me to find out your employee tried to pull one over on me. So instead of you calling to rectify the situation and make things right, you are calling me about a review that I made that reflects your business. Okay dude. Just do my oil change. Shortly after I hang up. I began to think. You know, I really don't like how that went. I grab my keys and shoot right back over to that firestone looking for whoever was on the other line. I went to the guy who took my keys and asked was he the manager. He said no quickly, seeing the anger on my face. I look to my right and see this fat guy with a fading hairline talking on the phone. Then I saw the manager on the phone and asked him to get my keys immediately. He looked shocked to see me so fast. "GIVE ME MY KEYS I DON'T LIKE HOW THAT PHONE CALL WENT!!!". My daughter's car broke down south of VA Beach last week (new alternator needed). We went to Firestone down tehre to get it fixed. When she drove back the next morning, there was no AC (driving back in the rain with fogged windows in traffic for close to 6 hours and having to keep the windows open during the rain-ughhh). For that Firestone location in 1531 General Booth Blvd, Virginia Beach VA, I give a 2 star at best. I called them and told them I needed two tires to be replaced and I told them the fire size and they said they have them in stock and could get the tires changed out later that night. So I get my car towed here and then they tell me that it will actually be tomorrow. They open at 7:00 AM and asked me when I wanted to pick it up. I thought that was so kind of them for asking that until I said 9:00 AM so I could be able to make it into work but they said that wouldn't work and had me keep saying times until they said it would work. We settled on 10:00 AM. At 10:00 AM they told me that there was a lot more wrong. So I agree to get the work done there. Four hours go by and I hear nothing from them so I call and they say it will be 20 minutes more. Then a few minutes later it was 40 minutes actually. I head over and it ended up being 70 minutes. I went it paying $700 for a job just to come back with an issue later only to learn I was given bad advice and had to pay $400 additional to have it corrected. Stay away!!! I took my car there for a repair and now I have multiple issues. The first time I took it in for a repair, I pulled off the lot with the problem being even worse. Since they were closing, they told me to bring it back the next day. I took it back and before they even looked at their repair job, they said there was probably a leak somewhere. I mean, really? Then why didn't they say that when I picked it up? In any event, I took it back for them to repair the new issue. They wanted more than $1000 for a list of issues that they created. I decided to not give them anymore chances to mess up my car so I left. I now have several issues that have nothing to do with my original issue. Beware of the Columbia Firestone. I took my car in for an alignment (under warranty) and two alignments later it still wasn't right and I noticed shaking when braking that wasn't there before. I was told the problem was my inner and outer tire rod on the left. So I paid for it to get replaced. The issue still persisted. Got a second opinion from another mechanic. Took it to a different Firestone and found out the alignment was way off to the point that my tires were pointing outward which affected me controlling my car when driving. The second Firestone fixed the alignment and found out that the inner tire rod that was put on at the Columbia store was poor quality. Also the cause of the shaking was my brakes and not the tire rods. The Columbia store ripped me off. Had me pay for something that was not needed and ultimately caused more problems. They do not acknowledge their mistakes or seem to care. read more

If I could give less I would, but a review was necessary. I had a leak in my tire and it most likely needed a simple patch up job (my fiancé had the same issue and we took it here to a total of $30, which I found to be reasonable). I took my car in on Friday evening (1/25/19) at around 7pm and left my vehicle overnight to be picked up the following day (1/26/19), not a problem. I receive a phone call then next morning around 7:45 am that not only could my tire not be saved, but I also had another tire that had a leak and also could not be saved (my car shows me when I have low tire pressure and in which tires). Their "recommended" total to replacing two tires plus a plethora of other work totaled $664.44 which is unbelievable. I understand cars need work and will require maintenance, but that is RIDICULOUS. To try and take a small issue like a leak in a tire and insert a ton of unnecessary work is obscene. I understand businesses need to make money, but at least do not try to rip off your paying customers. I DO NOT recommend this dishonest, second class shop for any of your vehicular needs. Find a local, non-commercial mechanic to take care of your vehicles (ones who actually appreciate the business brought in and want repeat customers). Never again will I recommend someone to Firestone Complete Auto Care. PS: I took the car to another mechanic who saved the tire and noted that my other tire did not have a leak in it. read more

How do you rotate tires without that key? YOU DON'T. That's right, folks. This place charged me for a service they didn't complete. And with a smile. My boyfriend came here for a battery connection issue and a patch job on his tire, I think all the "repairs" came to about 100.00. The next morning when he went to leave for work, his tire was flat!! AND the nail was still in the tire!!! They obviously didn't do anything to the tire. When he called them he told them what had happened, they said to come back in and they would "fix" it for free. It turns out at that point the tire was beyond repair and they had to replace it with a new tire. At first they wanted him to pay another 55.00 for the new tire, which I thought was ridiculous for the lack of any kind service in the first place. So he talked them down to 45.00. When I first went to this place in 2010, I intended to establish them for long term maintenance for my car. The first experience was mediocre at best, but the staff seemed reasonably friendly. The second experience severed all ties. I went in for a standard oil change and was quoted a price that was agreeable. The staff stated that my car would be taken in next since the shop was slow. It took about 90 minutes which was a bit long, but not a huge deal. When I got in my car, there were oil/grease covered thumb prints everywhere. Apparently, the person who brought the car in or out forgot or didn't care to wash their hands. I approached the front staff about this and was told, "that stuff happens." I argued to have them clean it but they were disinterested in listening further. As such, I took my business elsewhere. read more
