Five Stars for the manager and tall young man. ---------------- I came in today to replace my almost-dead car battery. A friendly employee informed me that it would take one to one and a half hours. After waiting about two hours, I checked with the front desk, where a man with black-framed glasses told me the battery hadn't arrived yet and was still on the way. I asked if he could check the battery's status and estimate when my car would be ready, but he said he didn't know. I explained that I needed to go home soon and asked if someone could give me a ride, but he just said no. Yes, he simply said no and didn't provide any helpful information, instead trying to brush me off. About 30 minutes later, I asked the same man again about the battery. He said it still hadn't arrived and mentioned he wasn't responsible for delivering the battery (or something to that effect -- I don't remember his exact words). I told him that I needed to go home soon and wanted my car back. He insisted that I couldn't drive my car because the battery was dead. When I asked for a jump-start, he refused, even though I had driven my car there using a jump-starter. Since I was able to drive my car to the shop, I believed it should have been possible to jump-start it again. Despite my repeated requests to get my car back if they couldn't replace the battery soon, he ignored me, walked to the work area, and dismissively said, "Whatever." ------------ ( FIVE STARS for the manager and the tall young man ) Later, I spoke with the manager. The manager promptly checked the battery status and ensured I got home in time for my meeting. Thanks to the manager's help, I made it home on time. I also want to thank the tall young man who assisted me with checking the battery, the driver status, and the check-in and check-out process. ------------ However, I am very disappointed by the man with the glasses and beard. His behavior was rude and irresponsible. I chose not to argue with him because I am pregnant, but his actions made me feel genuinely upset. read more

Can't say I would use this Firestone after witnessing whom I believed to be a mechanic drive a Buick SUV recklessly and extremely fast. In my opinion he was beating on the vehicle as he raced through the mall parking lot, onto the main road in the opposite direction then having to stop quickly to avoid another vehicle turning from Firestones parking lot drive way. First impressions mean a lot, maybe it doesn't tell the entire story, but I know common sense tells me that his actions were inappropriate. Had a flat tire on the Northway by exit 12. We put the donut on the car but couldn't drive it fast or that far and we had over 200 miles to go. AAA gave me the address for Firestone in Clifton Park Center off of exit 9 and they did a fast quick job on a Sunday of a holiday weekend. Took the car immediately and it was ready in 40 minutes. It was perfect considering the situation and the hot memorial day weekend weather. Tire cost was standard for prices today. Would definitely go back when in area. read more

Tire replacement: Made an appointment, they were to order tire. It did not get delivered. They told us on phone that they had gone to get it...not true. Find out at end of day tire not ever there. So not repaired. Three days later go back and still no tire until around 11:00 in morning. At 3:30 tire still not on and now am told we cannot check out because they lost electricity. They used to be excellent so suspect "new management" perhaps or rather new mismanagement. read more

Make sure you speak with someone in Firestone to make a appointment. DO NOT do it online or over their 800 appointment service. Neither one is accurate or reliable. Check my other reviews on that situation. Make sure you state if your dropping off or waiting for your vehicle. Trust me on that point. So I called this location made a appointment and stated I will be waiting. It wasn't a issue, great. I came a half hour early, just me and hate being late. They took me in immediately. They aligned my truck in less than 15 mins. Which as a mechanic myself is amazing. I had them rotate my tires at the same time. I was in and out the door before my scheduled appointment. Which is awesome. Their prices are what you normally expect, fair. Better than stealerships. I would highly recommend them for wheel alignments as well as tire rotations. They do offer an option for lifetime wheel alignments which comes out to paying double for a normal wheel alignment. read more

Tabatha and her crew were so great. I got pulled over and completely neglected my state inspection. I am not from the area, and needed to get this done quick. They got me an appointment and got the inspection done within an hour. They later find out my battery is almost dead (the original dealership battery from 2013) and explained all my options. They saved my daughter's car! While driving 4 hours from our home in PA we must have hit a rock that bounced up and pierced our oil filter. No idea it happened but got in the car the next morning and knew something was wrong. Tried Hoffman's, nope they didn't feel qualified to answer our whirring dilemma. Fair enough. Tried AAA, too many cars not enough technicians (Saturday morning). Fair enough. Tried Firestone. The kind man came out, dried the dipstick on his shirt, twice, dipped it twice, dry as a bone! I am not normally one to write a bad review, however the audacity of the "Lead" Technician & Service Advisor (Caine) has brought me to the point where I feel I must share my experience. It starts with getting new tires ($750+); on my way home I hear a humming noise from the rear part of my car, odd to say the least. Fast forward to Thursday on my way to work when I notice the noise again, but louder. I have mechanic friends, & so I describe the noise to them, "sounds like a wheel bearing, but the tech should have noticed that when putting on your tires". So I call Firestone & speak to a man that sets me up at 3:30p that day. I'm there for just shy of 30 minutes, when Caine calls me up. I am paraphrasing, but here's how it goes, "Our tech looked at your car, it doesn't appear to be a wheel bearing, but possibly the backend...What we would like to do is get you on the schedule earlier in the day, so my tech can get it up on the lift w/more time to look at it in more detail. I'm not sure why "so & so" set you up w/an appointment today at 3:30p, the tech usually leaves for 4p (shop closes @7p). I can get you in Tuesday afternoon". Had I gotten a printout from this visit I would be including the "Lead Tech's" name, but I don't have one. So I ask, why didn't the Tech (Ryan) from Saturday notice anything wrong w/my car? "The guy working on your car is on the newer side"; ok sure we've all been new at one point. However I am fed up w/the excuses & clearly not happy, Caine's only rebuttal is that it is not the wheel bearing, & they can't provide any pricing on repairs until the tech can look at it further. Mind you a bad wheel bearing can lock up while driving causing more damage or even worse, a bad accident! So now I leave Firestone & call the Subaru dealer & schedule a full diagnostic for a 2nd (a dealer being more educated on my car)...What is their diagnosis you may ask, BAD WHEEL BEARING & NOT JUST ONE, BUT BOTH REAR WHEEL BEARINGS!! So not only did Firestone not notice it the first time, but then when I come in complaining about the noise (which any mechanic knows that noise, I dare you to describe it to one "A humming noise, like when you pass a truck with big tires on it") they tell me it's not a wheel bearing. One of two things are at play here, one their lead technician is incompetent with no basic skills/experience, or they let me leave knowing it was a ticking time bomb and unsafe long term. Based on the experience I had; the whole being asked to come back, because it was now 4p (end of his shift) leads me to believe the latter, and they are lucky I don't have a lawsuit pending for their negligence! I used to bring my Toyota here for service all the time when I lived in Clifton Park. They never once tried to sell me something I didn't need, which would have been pretty easy to do since I had an older car. Their prices were reasonable, their staff was friendly, the waiting room was comfortable and didn't smell of gasoline, and the hours were excellent. The best part was that they had Sunday hours, which most places don't have. If I still lived in Clifton Park I would still go here... as it is, I am not going to the one in Colonie which is closer to where I live now. read more

I had a 8:00 appointment today for an inspection. Got there on time, no place to park. Went inside and said I had an appointment, manager said it would be 90 minutes before they could do inspection. I explained I made this appointment so I would not have to wait, was told when I called I would get right in with an 8:00 appointment. Manager said "we had a snow storm yesterday". "I understand we had a storm but I have an appointment". He said "its winter and we got snow yesterday". Having an appointment meant nothing to him. Unfortunately I had terrible service on May 30th. I had an 8am apt for new break pads. They said It would be 60 to 90 mins before they could bring the car in to look at the problem. At 10:00 they still had not brought the car in and it was going to be another 60 min wait. I'm not sure why I even made an apt. After the 3 hour wait, they quoted me an astronomical price. This time, there were a bunch of add on charges, road protection, tire balancing, etc totaling to about $100 which were not discussed. They give you an electronic pad to sign which one would think is signing for the credit card, but actually reads that you accept the add on charges. Completely dishonest. They told me they would get to my car as long as I left it for several hours til closing. So I left it, took an Uber home. After 2 hours, I received a call saying that they wouldn't get to it and I could either leave it overnight or pick it back up. So, I drove to pick it back up and by the time we were able to Uber back (by the way, add 30 dollars of Uber to this little adventure), all other car places were booked for the night. Brought my 2012 Nissan in for inspection, they failed it due to tie rods being "shot" and brakes (rotors), $800+ Took to Nissan instead, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the tie rods and the brakes are wearing, but not anywhere near where they should have failed inspection. Ironically, I took my last car here for a quick service and was told that car needed a brake job and tie rods, and I fell for it that time. Maybe they like to hand those out. Won't be back, although place is convenient and quick. read more

Got my tires rotated, during this process they bent my break shield that created a clicking noise. When I went back to the mechanic they told me it was my brakes, so I went to another mechanic. They were able to unbend my brake shield and the problem was solved. I will never go here again. read more

A Ford Ranger with less than 50,000 miles went in for front brake pads and rear shoes. I was out of the country so my girlfriend took it in. Even called this Dennis form Europe to tell him exactly what needed to be done. Next thing I hear the rotors, calipers everything was replaced tried to charge almost $ 700 for this and the rear shoes were never done! Requested that all the parts were put in the truck for me to see when I got home. Two different kinds of pads were thrown in the box the discs where not worn out of the minimum and there were no calipers to be found. DO NOT GO THERE! A simple front brakes change was reported to take 1 hour and has taken 3 because the people delivering parts didnt send the right parts and didnt respond to phone calls. No one communicated the problem me in a reasonable amount of time. I had my car repaired here a year ago and had all the ignition wring and coils replaced, which I was grossly over charged for (over $800). This place charged me for parts that were never put in my car! Charged me for the highest costing ignition coil and put a low end nickle coil in its place. Now, a year later I am having the same issue I went in for and get to put an all new coil in my car because this place wants to scam people out of money. I am out $200 for an all new coil alone (not including labor) not to mention that I have spent around $1,000 trying to find the issue with my car because no one would think to look at a year old coil!!! I made it clear to the store manager that the problem my car is having an intermittent warm starting problem. Firestone's technician(s) troubleshoot the battery and found that it did not have enough cold cranking amps. The manager may or may not have shown me the results of the load test. I was not given a hard copy of the results of the load test. The manager suggested replacing the battery and that the battery was bad. I took the bait and agreed to purchase a new battery from them. The old battery was a "60 month" battery and it was approx 53 months old. My car still has the same issue of a intermittent warm starting problem. Intermittently the engine does not crank. Every load test I did on the old battery and the new battery showed the batteries to be good. The new battery measures at 12.4 volts with the engine off, 14.4 volts with the engine on including radio, AC and headlights and 12.7 volts after turning the engine off. The old battery had very similar results. I called Firestone customer service on 12/29/16. The CSR agreed to contact the manager at the Clifton Park store. The manager's suggestion was to have it tested in a local Phoenix Firestone since I had moved. The CSR explained that if the battery tested good I would have to pay a charge of apporx $26. I'm not sure why I would have to pay to get my battery tested if its under warranty? The CSR also explained that he would escalate my complaint to the Area manager and I should hear back from the Area manager within 24 hours. I have not heard from the Area manager. I called Firestone customer service again on 1/5/17 and a different CSR stated the Area manager had not been contacted. The 2nd CSR agreed to escalate the issue to the Area manger. Again I did not hear from the Area manager. I suspect the old battery was actually good. In addition, I very disappointed and upset that Firestone has blown me off two times recently. Not a good way to retain customers. Firestone has lost another customer for life. Congratulations! An email from Firestone social media on 1/11/17 a.m.: Thank you for contacting Firestone. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you with this and apologize for any frustration this has caused! I have located your file in our system, reference number and I have sent an alert to the management team on your behalf. The time frame for contact is 24 hours and you should be contacted soon. Please reply directly to this email if you need further assistance. We value your business and thank you for choosing Firestone. Once again its been over 24 hours and Firestone management has not contacted to me. This is the 3rd time I have been blown off my Firestone. As i wrote in my initial post, Firestone has lot a customer for life. I went in about 1:30 on a Sunday 10/2/16 Looking to get a tire replaced on my work truck. I was greeted by a sarcastic hostile counter person who told me I would be waiting until 6pm. When they close at 5pm. He told me to come back during the week. When I explained that this is my work truck needed during the week and I am a long time customer. I was told if I didn't like it not to come back. I have never been this upset at a business to leave a negative review on yelp. I did not think asking to replace one tire 3 and a half hours prior to closing would be such a problem. Horrible experience. I needed to get a simple oil change. They recommended an appointment, as walk ins usually wait they said. So I made a noon appointment a week out. Upon arriving it took 45 minutes just to get my car in. Hello - I'm on lunch break and made an appointment a week ago. The oil change was another 45 minutes as the mechanic did more strolling around the shop and work on other cars than mine. When I finally got my car back he left oil dripping down the fender and dirty fingerprints all over my interior. This is my first and last trip to Firestone. read more

NEVER EVER GO HERE!!!! I came here today (11/7/2016) because my 2004 Explorer needed some work, it was wobbling at low speeds. I knew there was something wrong but I just wanted an estimate so that I can shop around and get the best price. (If the best price was here there I would have come back). They finished the inspection and Jeff, I'm assuming he was the manager proceeded to go over what work they determined I needed done. [4 new tires w/ alignment (tires were really bad which I knew), tie rod ends (right-inner), ball joints (both lower-front)] all for a grand total of $1,957.56 That price included $911.19 for parts, $127.42 for tax and and a whopping $918.95 for labor (are you kidding me!!!! but I'll get back to that later) When I told Jeff I wasn't going to get the work done today (I wanted to shop around first to get the best price, obviously I didn't tell him that) he gave me this incredulous look as if he couldn't believe what I was saying and actually said to me "you're going to drive it like that", I repeated I can't get the work done today. He then had the nerve to say to me that he would have rather me not come in there, find out whats wrong and not do the work and drive out and be on the road with my "dangerous unsafe vehicle". Some how I think what he was really mad about was that he wasn't going to get almost $2000.00 from me. Well Jeff, you are the epitome of why people think auto repair shops rips them off. How dare you try and guilt me into getting the work done right there and then. First of all you have no idea if I could even afford to do the work right away, nor did you try to find out why I couldn't do it. Now, lets get back to the labor cost. In NYS most independent repair shops charge between $70 to $90/hr and dealerships usually charge between $80 and $125/hr. Using the top rate of $125, that means the shop would take ($918.95/ $125/hr) 7.35 hours to do the repairs on my truck, are you kidding me Jeff almost 8 hours to do that work. You sir are a plain old fashion crook. Shame on you. After shopping around for the best price, I settled on Mavis Discount Tire in Latham. They're going to do all the work plus some additional stuff (install 4 new tpms sensors, which I provided to them), 4 new BFGoodrich Radial Long Trail T/A Tour tires which are rated better then the Firestone Destination LE2 included in the quote from Firestone all for a grand total of a little over $1400.00. Thats more than $500 less than this crooked place. Firestone you just lost me as a customer for life. I wouldn't come here to put air in my tires. read more

I called Firestone earlier in the week and asked about walk-ins and appointments for an inspection. I was told by the manager, Jeff, that I could walk-in, but subject to other appointments, he made no recommendation of making an appointment and acted like I was bothering him with my question. I asked when the store was opened on Saturday and he told me 7:00, again no recommendation of making an appointment. I was there at 7:00 am and the manager told me he was booked and to try to call back in the afternoon, but it didn't look good to get my car inspected. Right from the start, and also on the phone, he acted like he didn't want my business. I told him that I wished I had known that appointments were recommended, because I would have made one. He told me in a sarcastic tone, well that's the reason I said "subject to other appointments". I called him when I got home because I wanted to remind him that when I called initially, he never recommended an appointment and acted as if walk-ins were perfectly accepted. Jeff cut me off saying that he had another call, put me on hold for five minutes, and never got back on the phone with me. I called back and asked him why he left me on hold and took another call, when I called first to begin with, and he said well there's a lot of competition out there, etc. I told him that that was BAD BUSINESS. He was rude, disrespectful and needs to learn how to treat customers. So now I will go to the competition. For someone who is worried about the competition and answering other phone calls, maybe he should work on his people skills and manners and learn how to be a good manager. read more

I'm writing with a mixture of frustration and relief. Last month (7/5/17) I went to the Firestone in Clifton Park to change the oil and the serpentine belt for my Toyota Yaris. When I picked up my car the workers let me know that I needed to change my AC compressor, otherwise everytime I turn on my car or turn the wheel while the AC is on, my car will let out a loud, head-turning squeal. They quoted me around $1000 for the compressor itself and the manual labor. My heart immediately sunk, I am a female college student who doesn't have that kind of money. I ended up going to another mechanic at the request of my boyfriend. We showed up, the mechanic popped the hood, and let out a laugh. He was laughing because he could see immediately that the belt hadn't been tightened correctly, he even showed us the old mark where the bolt was prior to my trip to Firestone. The improper tightening was what created the squealing in the first place. So, not only did I not get the service that I had paid for, but my mechanic's recommendation was inept and borderline criminal. read more

After a flat last winter, I had to purchase a 4th Nokian Hakkapelliitta snowtire. I had previously been doing business with a retailer that carried my brand but only had locations in Rotterdam and East Greenbush, either of which was an hour round-trip drive for me. I met your manager Josh Labarge, he told me that even if Firestone didn't carry a certain brand, he could order it for me, so I stopped in the store. He ordered the tire, he called me back the next business day stating that it was in, I went in that night and I saved myself not only quite a bit of money but a lot of time as well. They were quick, thorough and professional even though the location seemed very busy. Josh seemed to know a lot of the customers personally, or he treats everyone in a friendly way. I will definitely be back because I will need new tires in the spring. You have earned a repeat customer with such excellent service. Highly recommend. read more
