Freddy is a SWEETHEART! My friend and I were driving through Chicago from California when we started to have car problems. Being 8:45ish at night, we were worried as all the auto shops were closed or close to closing. Freddy picked up my call and was so nice. He let us bring the car in after hours and leave it out front. He even waited for us after hours which is just above and beyond customer service. He got us serviced and back on the road early the next day as well! Super reasonable prices and a super nice guy! The waiting room also felt like home with couches, a coffee machine, snacks, and TV with Netflix. Freddy's attention to detail is amazing as well. He checked my friend's car from top to bottom and made sure fluids and everything else was good to go. If you're ever on the fence about a mechanic, I can't recommend him enough. My partner came to drop off our 2016 Nissan Rogue for service. There was a strip of black plastic that came loose on the passenger side right above the wheel, and someone stole our hubcap on that same wheel. We needed that strip to be fastened back onto the vehicle and needed a new hubcap. Freddy said our tires are too old and that all 4 of them needed to be replaced. The 2 brands they carried were Firestone and Bridgestone. Freddy said buying 4 tires came with installation, wheel alignment and balancing. Costco's tire center did the same and has other brands as well such as Michelin. At this point, I was at work and my partner's at work, and I didn't want them to undo what they did and decided to just move forward with it. I arrived here to pick up the car around 7:40 p.m., and Freddy said our right wheel was missing the hubcap and we were under the impression that he'd help us find the part and install it. He said he couldn't find anything online and that the dealer was the only place he could find it and it cost way more. I get into the car and realized he had adjusted the steering wheel at the time of service, and he forgot to adjust it back. I went back in to ask him how to readjust my steering wheel as it was sitting way too low for me to maneuver -- it was basically sitting right above my lap. I'm glad he showed me where to fix it, I knew there was a lever but was too scared to tug on it. This was an expense that I didn't expect to come out, I would've gone a different route if my partner didn't already commit to it, and I wish they would've tried to find us a hubcap and installed it. I still recommend them to people in the area who are looking to service their car, Freddy seems to know what he's doing, and just know that they do try to upsell you. I turned down the pothole insurance as my credit card comes with roadside assistance. read more

Took my car to one shop to get it repaired...that shop tried to give me the run around and charge me unfairly! Then I called Freddy @ 1st stop Auto and he was able to get my car towed to his shop and take care of me right away! They evaluated all the repairs that needed to be done and then let me know what repairs were the most important and what could wait. They really worked with us and helped us explore all our options and kept us updated. They also gave us an outstanding deal on our repairs.. We picked up the car and the place is really clean, nice waiting room even phone chargers! I have to say Freddy and One stop really helped us instill our faith that there are still good auto repair shops out there who aren't trying to get over on you. I have been going to this car mechanic shop for about a year now. I have worked with Alex and Freddy in that timeframe. The service has been phenomenal. Freddy and Alex take the time to explain to you what they are doing prior to you authorizing work which always helps me understand the parts they are fixing on my SUV. I have gone to other mechanics around the Brighton Park area. I always encounter mechanics who seem pressed for time and not too willing to talk with me about the exact parts they are fixing and why they are fixing it. Additionally, the 3 month service guarantees always worries me. First Stop Auto Center guarantees their work for a year. I am always welcomed to the shop with a smile and willingness to consult with me right away. Everyone is nice and you don't feel like you don't belong there. There is a nice waiting room for the guests stocked with coffee, candy, a tv, couch, and even a computer desk. I always feel comfortable with my family in there because my daughter can run around without compromising anyone's safety (including her own). When I need to drop off our car to stay in the shop, Freddy usually orders an Uber for me to go home. This is a fantastic service that I have not seen from any other business, auto shop or not. I appreciate that a lot because it's one less thing to worry about regarding me not having a car while they are working on it. I would highly recommend this auto repair shop for anyone looking for a reliable repair shop that stands by their work and provides a great customer service experience at the same time. I WII NOT RETURN to or recommend this place. I have had major work done here and spent thousands of dollars, only to find out their parts and work are substandard and they do not stand behind their work! My last visit was to replace my entire rack & pinion steering, and pump. Over $1500!! Barely a year later I had to return for extremely loud noises from that area. These guys FALSELY told me it was my engine and wanted to charge me over two thousand to repair!! I wisely got a second opinion from Pep Boys, who confirmed it was the same rack & pinion First Stop supposedly repaired. Rather than admit their error, they would have charged me thousands again! I Conversed with Freddie numerous times in hopes of some kind of compensation, but only received a song & dance and NOT owning up to their obvious mistake! Pep Boys repaired the issue and warranted their parts for life! Sorry to say, cuz Freddie seemed nice enough, but First Stop will NOT see me again. read more

Bought a high mileage car out of state and brought it to Chicago. One of the worst mistakes I ever made: catalytic converter went bad, electrical problems with multiple drains on the battery, etc. All of these fixed by 1st Stop, who took the time to trace out the problems and fix them, and offered a discounted labor rate on top of the fair price already offered after I paid for the converter job. Finally the timing chain starting whizzing like a chain saw. Freddy quoted me a price that was less than one-half the dealer's price or that of some other shops. Changing the chain is a bear on this car-- there were issues afterwards-- but 1st Stop took the car back without complaint, took the time to do the job right, and even cut me a refund check for a repair traced back to a problem with the timing chain install. First time in my life I ever got a dime back from a repair shop. Don't think this is an issue with their skills-- I had one uncle who started out as a mechanic and moved on to own a dealership: even with his 30 years experience and his best mechanics he had to replace new cars that could not be repaired. Not all repair jobs are simply "follow the manual," especially these days when engines are designed for ease of manufacture, not ease of maintenance.
