they're super cheap for how expensive they are. all entrees come with one side. $40 for a steak and only one side? $8 for bread, which is complimentary at every other restaurant in the world. their Christmas steak is to die for, but their normal everyday steak is no better than applebees, but double the price and one less side. also the lighting in here is terrible, it used to be lovely, with lamps at every table, but now it's like a hospital with shoddy dim over head lights that your eyes can never seem to adjust too. read more

I was in town for a conference at the nearby convention center and had time to kill for lunch so decided to try Firesides. It is in the casino in the back. It has a pretty cool decor themed to Boot Hill of course. I have to say the hamburger was one of the best I have had. Very juicy and fresh and tasty. I got a side of coleslaw to go with the hamburger and it was also great. Service was pretty quick but it was lunch during the day and not too busy. read more

We were staying at the hotel next door and decided to eat here as they had advertised Italian night. It was a Tuesday. The advertisement stated for $20 per person one receives a chose of a house salad or Caesar salad, made to your liking - all you can eat - pasta dish, and dessert. We were skeptical at first though found it to be quite delicious. We both chose the Caesar salad, served with yummy rolls. We got in line for the pasta dish. You had three different options for sauces, three different options for noodles (pre-cooked), several options of vegetables, and three options for meat. They cooked it in front of you. I opted for linguine noodles, a small amount of Alfredo sauce, mushrooms, and chicken. It was amazing. My husband got the tricolor tortellini noodles, all the veggies, and pesto sauce. He loved it! We got a bottle of wine, which was actually inexpensive compared to other places we go. Jacqueline was a wonderful, cheerful waitress. I will admit, you had to go through a bit of the casino to get there. Smoking is allowed in the casino so we were a bit nervous about the restaurant. I wanted a place to eat and our hotel rep suggested this place. My business partner and I both ordered the 6 oz filet. Side dishes included Baby Red Smashed Potatoes (I don't think they were baby red) & green beans. Over all the meal was tasty. Steak was cooked perfectly and I prefer mine with blue cheese crumbles so in had to order. We stayed at the hotel next door and were at the casino solely for food and drinks. I honestly sat by the poker machines for about 20 minutes on a phone call, and wasn't interested in tossing a penny in. The walk to the casino is only about two minutes from door to door. Our bartender/server was not necessarily conversational, but always in motion, stocking or busy doing other things. He mentioned that the steaks are not locally procured, but are from a foodservice establishment. I ordered a filet medium rare with the Boursin mashed potatoes. The potatoes had a nice flavor, though my steak was much more medium well than medium rare. The steak entree was about $36, and I also ordered a glass of the Coppola cabernet for $12. It was a better wine than the cabernet from the sports bar on site ($7), but I still wasn't a big fan. Dinner also came with warmed rolls. The bartender didn't check in with us after our food arrived. Overall, it was nice to have steaks and wine available next to our hotel and it was good enough for the price point, but not something I would go out of my way for. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped at Firesides during a cross-country drive, and it was the perfect place for a relaxing meal. The restaurant's atmosphere is comfortable and designed to minimize noise of the attached casino. I ordered the filet, and my boyfriend had the strip steak, both topped with garlic shrimp. The steaks were prepared well, but the plump and flavorful shrimp were the star. Our meals came with fresh salads and a choice of sides which rounded out our meals nicely. The service was friendly and attentive. Firesides was a much-needed break on our journey, and since this is an annual trip we will definitely stop by again. read more

Was looking forward to enjoying my father's 88th birthday. When we arrived, we asked for a booth, we were told thatnone were available. However, there were, and the next party was seated at a booth. Then my father ordered the prime rib, they brought out a ribeye instead, which was more expensive and tough, which was hard to eat. So me and my roommate ate here tonight and the waitress started off great then she dwindled to none existent no refills asked for steak sauce blew me off and helped another table mind you I will always tip 50% of my tab she pretty much didn't do her job at all once we were served our food she disappeared if she was quick to bring our check when I went to get the steak sauce my self then I see someone the manager he brings the steak sauce I told him about asking waitress he in turn says where is she and walks off so really the only employee of the night that actually did her job and helped me out was the hostess who sat us at our table and treated us at the door so she made a $50 tip and was shocked to get tipped but she deserved it more then our waitress from now on I will not sit in her section ever again. So note to self, do not eat at a casino! The food is an after thought. Cheese dip was out of a can, had no seasoning which resulted in no flavor. The chicken chili was Luke warm and also had no seasoning which made it bland. It had more flavor than the cheese dip but not much. The server took our order and brought us everything we asked for except our drinks and then asked if we needed anything after she brought all the food. Drinks please! Also I had the wedge salad and again no flavor, the ranch dressing was plain and tasteless. My lovely bride had a Caesar salad and the white chicken chili as well. Basic Americana menu. cheese filled Bacon wrapped jalapeños were great. Staff very attentive. Main order was a 6oz hot pink center, regrettably it came out at a maximum of 1" thick, likely a select cut instead of choice and was cooked to well done. It was replaced with more of a medium rare steak in about 5 minutes. The steak was disappointing, tough to cut and unseasoned. Overall the restaurant seemed well equipped to handle lunch type of fare, burgers, poppers and beer. Don't drop $$ on the upper side of the menu items. read more

We dined as a large group of 8 on a Saturday evening and were generally pleased with our experience. One of our party ordered a medium rare steak and her steak was definitely a well done steak. Otherwise, we all enjoyed our food quality and taste, and our waiter did an overall good job. I had a filet, long grain rice, and a side ceasar salad. This place is delicious! Not from the area but when I asked the locals a good place to try the Fireside at Boot Hill casino came highly recommended and they did not disappoint. The waitress Adriana was very polite, kept our drinks full, and plates cleared, as we went on a Sunday during their brunch service. The variety was amazing, fresh sautéed veggies, delicious breakfast sandwich, prime rib (hands down the best I've ever eaten), seafood, the typical breakfast items, plus fruit, salad, a made to order omelet station and who could forget the fresh steamed lobster. Everything was so amazing, and cracking open our own lobsters was a fun touch to a girls brunch. Mimosas and bloody Mary's were good as well. There were several dessert options and to top it off, the executive Chef himself, came out and greeted us at our table and asked how we enjoyed our experience. This is not something you hear or see very often. He walked around and visited several tables and that level of passion and care for your trade is not something you see everyday. Also, loved the nice touch of fresh flowers on the tables, in clean water. I'm a florist so this is something I always look for when I try a new restaurant. Overall I was very impressed with this restaurant and can't wait to come back to try their regular menu during my next trip! read more

We were staying a few days at Gunsmoke RV Park(close by) and decided to try Firesides for dinner. My wife and I split the prime rib dinner for two ($30.00) and a bottle of wine. Food was delicious--from the salad to the dessert, service was friendly and prompt. Remember this is a Casino first, restaurant second. The people that work here are casino employee, look round their necks, that may explains the service here. My waiter was new but he try hard to serve my table. But I did not come here for service, it was the 9.99 prime rib or the 12.99 ribeye. Where else in Dodge are you going find a good steak for this price. Yes there may be better steaks in town but ones paying 2 to 3 time the price too. This is best deal in town. If you do not want the prime rib, ribeye or the fillet, it would be best to go some where else to eat. Guest what? The Christmas Day buffet was not worth $25.00 a person. The wait staff and employees of the restaurant were all not friendly or personable. The prime rib was not good. The lady filling my plate with the other items like carrots, asparagus, and mashed potatoes didn't or couldn't speak or understand English. I won't be back. Don't waste your time or money. We were the only table besides another couple and it took 18 minutes to get anyone to take our drink order (there were 6 employees standing around, laughing, not paying attention) when we finally got our waters ordered, it took another 7 minutes to receive. We finally ordered, my friends burgers came out like hockey pucks and 4 fries, yes...4 and I am not exaggerating. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken (the chicken was an extra $12 to add) and it literally looked like cold deli chicken???? Also the croutons were so stale they were not edible. (Which explains why the table next to us left a plate of croutons on the table) I will say, the warm bread and butter they brought to the table was the best thing we had. My husband and I were referred to the Fireside Restaurant by the hotel clerk where we are staying. We walked over and waited at least 5 minutes for a hostess. No one came and other employees were working but wouldn't make eye contact and totally ignored us. We chose to sit down and pulled up the menu on the scan code. We sat for at least another 10 minutes and again we were totally ignored. A young lady finally came up and asked if she could help and we explained we waited for awhile at the hostess stand (approximately 5 minutes) Bartender, waitresses never acknowledged us and no hostess. The young lady who spoke to us(I think maybe the manager) offered us only seats in the bar. My husband replied "No thanks" and we just left. We are from Ohio and service with helping others is how it is done there . How sad! read more

I've read the other reviews and had to laugh, I kept my expectations WAY LOW for this place.. come on - we're in a Casino in Dodge City Kansas for heavens sake! That being said .. it took a few minutes for a manager to notice we were waiting to be seated - once she did, we were sat in a cozy little booth. I quickly noticed that our server seemed very nervous and 'by the book' so I took it upon myself to have a little fun with him and ask him a number of menu-related questions .. he provided very, very honest answers to my inquiries regarding what was good and what he had and had not had the chance to try. The menu was printed on an old time newspaper which, for whatever reason, made me giggle! (I know why but I'll keep it to myself) Anyway I digress .. I ordered the Fried Cheese Lasagna, hey I was intrigued give me a break! It came with the salad bar .. oh the salad bar.. it was pretty puny - lettuce, cheese, croutons, carrots, chick peas - think: basic salad bar toppings and salad dressings. The 6 flies that made their way into the casino also found their way over to the salad bar, which just added to the, ahem, charm. At the end of the salad bar we had the option of chili or tomato basil soup, I passed on both, but managed to snag a warm roll, which was pret-tty darned good. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time - again, I kept my expectations low and the food did not disappoint. My FRIED lasagna was greasy and it had that cheap bar food taste to it. It could have been saved had the actual lasagna been quality, but it was about as basic as it comes. It did, however, come with a side of veggies which were good and some garlic (butter) toast, I did not mind that, being the carb lover than I am. The boy got the Linguine Pasta Scampi and he said it was ok, other items ordered at the table: Chicken Linquine Alfredo - which he said was ok (looked like it lacked any real cheese or sauce to me) and the BBQ Brisket Platter - meat appeared to be pretty fatty, but Janie said it was alright .. So yea, know what you're walking in to, and if you keep your expectations low you'll be juuuust fine. I had prime rib special, which is a 16 ounce prime rib, baked potato, salad bar, and drink all for $14.99. The food itself was wonderful! The prime rib was cooked exactly the way I ordered it (medium). Had delicious flavor, as well as the potato was awesome! The reason for this two star review, is the service. After I was seated, it was nearly 15 minutes before a server approached me at all. Then it took another 15 minutes to get my drink. By the time I got my first refill on my drink I had been seated for over an hour. I walked in though exactly what I wanted, yet it still took 55 minutes to get my food. I saw other couples walk in get seated eat and leave before I got my food! With a minimum of effort on behalf of the waitstaff, this could've been a five star review easily! New menu prices were almost three times as high. Server got manager to come out to table. He acknowledged the picture of menu was correct. Waitress took our drink order. Bar delivered wrong drink. Always, always, look at the latest reviews not ones from long ago, whatever complaints people had about this place, has been remedied, either because management took notice of the complaints or because the people writing bad reviews kvetch about EVERYthing!! There was a prime rib special, which had a 16 oz. large succulent piece of prime rib divided by two as was the baked potato and dessert but had two individual salads for only $20, lucky me was behind someone in line who told me, reg. price is $30 but if you sign up for Player's Club you get an immediate $10 discount so it was a total of $20! The salads are truly gourmet and the bread pudding out of this world (we took it home and it was big enough to last for three days and still tasted good !!!) The food was delicious and service was excellent, but what impressed me the most was that I left my driver's license in the restaurant and was in Oklahoma City when I found out, so my friend did not want to go back to Kansas to get it. Thought they would just send it reg. mail, was afraid that if I asked them to send it priority or certified mail, they'd charge me a lot (being pennywise and pound foolish) and since reg. mail always gets to me, hoped and prayed that it would get to my home safely, it did, but by sending it certified, shows this place is a class act and deserves your patronage, at least for their delicious dinners. I go to casinos for their great meal specials, (probably not want they want LOL, and people should not put down food from where it's served, people here are making a big deal that this is a restaurant in a casino,) in Nevada there is a brothel with great food, a friend took me there but because I had no I.D. I couldn't go there even if it was just to eat), the Hustler Casino in Southern CA used to have a great 3 course dinner for $10 but no more, alas, but you can come here and get THEIR great food in sophisticated surroundings for an incredible price! Every night but two, they have specials, (manager told me that they were going to have it for the other two days) so check, I thought that the $5 burger was a silly promotion, but the owner told me the burgers were quite famous, and people line up for it, it's that good. The young man who finally came by as very nice, but again the server who originally took our order seemed like she didn't want to be here. Visiting Dodge City for the first time and so far we are 0-2 for service at two locations in this town. Hopefully our second day is better.... Ok, went here on our last night in Dodge City. Sat at the bar and we received GREAT customer service by Katherine. She not only smiled, but asked us 2-3 times how our food was. This while she was servicing the entire bar which was at least 3/4 full. Now if only we sat at the bar the day before.... I raised our 1 star...terrible experience to a 3 star average due to Katherine!!! If we sat at the bar the first night we were there, then it would have been a 5+ star for sure. This place had fantastic food. The service was a little slow, as they were short staffed, but the server was excellent overall! We never had empty water, always had bread, and he brought our drinks in a timely manner. The food was amazing, the vibe was relaxed and enjoyable, and I would definitely go here again. This is the first review I have written and I am so sorry it is negative BUT my meal was so disappointing that I have to write it. After being told that they had a full bar It took 15 minutes for our martinis to arrive - simultaneously with our main courses. When they arrived the glasses were virtually empty and our server informed us that they can only serve 1 ounce of liquor I each drink. Probably would have been ice to know this before I ordered. Even bigger surprise was when the check came and they charged $9 for the 1 ounce martini. The salad bar was skimpy and the empty items were not refilled but rather left empty. My Texas brisket was worth the 1 star but there was not enough sauce and although I'm not from Texas I don't think Texas toast is a slice of white bread. Do not eat here. read more

The 1 star rating comes from the fact that we ordered Pinot Noir, they brought out Pinot Grigo and then said we had to pay for it anyway. I asked the server too get me the manager and he informed that it was the managers decision to charge us and she obviously couldn't put it back. At the end of the meal the manager still hadn't come to see us. When I asked where she was I was told she was on break. Worst customer service ever. We read the reviews but still went just because we had tickets for a concert at the adjoining arena! I'd say they've improved over the previous reviews but still have a long way to go! Service is slow! Took nearly 30 min to get water and a waiter to take orders! The margarita was all sour lime mix with very little if any tequila! Glad we only ordered one and shared it! Finally got our prime rib after being there a full hour. Could not really enjoy it since we had only 30 min to eat and walk over to the concert. Strangest prime we've ever had! Nice big cut cooked med rare just like we ordered, very tender...could almost cut with a fork... But the first bite left us wondering what happened to the house special seasoning rub touted on the menu! Flavorless, except for the taste of the fat! We doused it with pepper and a sprinkle of salt and a dollop of the creamy horseradish we'd asked for in order to give it flavor of any kind! As we were hurrying to leave a nice lady stopped us and asked how everything was! I told her honestly we thought it was a great piece of beef but it totally missed the seasoning! As we paid at the register she caught up with us and took one or our meals off the ticket and asked us to come back and give them another chance! We probably will but I might bring my own steak seasoning with me!!! ;)) By the way, the $9.99 price is really unbelievable for a pound of prime rib this tender and juicy!
