Tonight we experienced true gracious service, with a sure hand and even firmer grip on this town's legacy. Great conversation. Really old fashioned, laid back bar. Bourbon and whiskey were better than average. Yet the drinks were seriously strong. I learned a lot about the owners and family .. all varieties are home grown and family distilled from the wheat to the bottle. My fav were the Red eye and the Straight wheat. read more

Stopped overnight in Dodge City on our way from Kansas City to Trinidad Colorado. Needed a place for dinner and we found this place . What a find. The pizza here is among the best I have ever had. Crispy crust with lots of toppings. Some just right. And the beer selections is great too. A lucky find in the middle of godforsaken Kansas. Seated on the previous site of the Boot Hill cemetery, what was once a schoolhouse, city building, and fire station, is now the home of a distillery who is a farm to glass operation. This brief review is for JUST the statue outside. I'm not much of a drinker, but this statue caught my attention! There is a stark white statue out in front, which is the oldest Cowboy statue. It is simply called, "The Cowboy". A dentist name Oscar Simpson decided to create a cowboy sculpture. He used Dental plaster to make this. His model was Policeman Joe Sughrue, whom he thought looked enough like a cowboy. So, he dipped the fellow completely in the plaster. He was given a straw to breathe through during the casting process. Because of this technique, it looked really lifelike! People loved this statue so much that it was placed in front of the town's City Hall, which has since become Boot Hill Distillery. As part of the dedication of the City Hall in 1929, it was unveiled and the plaque reads, "On the ashes of my campfire, this City is built." In 1932, The Cowboy was was accompanied by a set of yoked steers, also created by Dr. Simpson. In 2015, The Cowboy statue was restored and is now still looking as new as ever when I visited it in Oct. 2018! read more

Dodge is known for many things, gunfights, Wyatt Earp, beef, etc.... but it should be also known for this distillery. You walk in and it's very distinct and welcoming. Met Austin the bartender/mixologist and he was very thoughtful and friendly! Had a very detailed history of the bar and so many other interesting facts. I loved the time I spent there and will definitely return. My drink, the White Russian, was utterly perfect and the charcuterie board Austin made was unique and delicious. What an AWESOME place! Of course, we had to sit down at the bar and try all their stuff while we were there. ALL their liquors are SO good and if you ever get a chance, it is absolutely worth a special trip to Dodge City to experience this place for yourselves. I am a whiskey guy, and I was blown away by the quality when I tried them all individually. Also, the cocktails and bartenders were amazing. We were really wishing we would have got a hotel so we could have stayed all day! It was the best bar/tasting experience I've had in a very long time. Also, they don't outsource any of their ingredients - even the grain used to make their booze is farmed BY THEM. Check them out, buy their stuff, I promise you won't be disappointed. read more

This is a nice little bar connected to the distillery. You cannot get food served with your drinks. The staff is a give star, but the drinks are not that great and very expensive. I mean other than having a quick expensive drink there is no reason go here. We didn't take the tour, so I can't speak to it. read more

Went during the afternoon before they were open to the public and the people greeted us with smiles and a warm welcome. Tasted 90 percent of there alcohol and after visiting for an hour on the history of there brews, bought quite a selection for home and gifts and went back to have a drink at business hours. The hospitality of the employees, (Lee was our server), his patience in explaining the distillery process, his quick service, all things to count as pluses for this little gem in historic Dodge. My husband and I first had the "Raise a Ruckus". Delicious and I'm not even a whiskey drinker. Then we had the "Alice Chambers", which was also delicious and had the most interesting sweet, tart, taste. The special of the day was vodka basil lemonade and oh my gosh it was the BEST! It is so sweet and powerful! My husband had a shot of their pure moonshine and it knocked his boots off! The prices were very reasonable and we walked out spending only $24. He INSTEAD, EXPLAINED each and every option they had without bias of "What other people like." HE WAS GENUINE, FRIENDLY, FUNNY AND GAVE US a nearby food recommendation which was much needed after our flight and a couple drinks. We are soooo thankful to Austin at Boot Hill Distillery! What a great place!!! Lots of history involved in their spirits! The men working the bar were not only knowledgeable but were extremely passionate regarding their products. We tried the prickly ash bitters (loved it), white whiskey, and then had an amor y amora cocktail (so very delicious). We purchased bottles of the lavender bitters, prickly ash bitters, and moonshine to take back to Colorado with us. The location of the distillery is right on top of the original Boot Hill cemetery (bodies moved to new cemetery). The atmosphere is very modern, comfortable and fun. They have games to play, you can tour the facility, and it's very clean. We were stoked to find out they distribute to Colorado. We just have to go to their Facebook page to find all locations they distribute to. I definitely recommend this place! read more

What a great place to visit with a history. Less than a year old, the building was renovated beautifully. We had a sampling of the spirits at the bar. Loved the Vodka and enjoyed sampling the rest. Nice people that are enthusiastic about their craft. We rushed through the tour to get to a wedding so can't really give a thorough review.
