Due to its location in the basement and the lack of modern acoustics, it was a little on the noisy side. I was thrilled that the chef's daily special was Shepherds Pie. My Irish ancestory kicked in and I had the special. The Sample Room's take on Shepherd's Pie was excellent. I also had an appetizer of Gizapaco (their take on gazpacho) which was also quite good. My wife had the Reuben with fries which was also great. The service was good, the decor and atmosphere was historic and we had a great time. Would definitely stop here again.

The bed was very comfortable and we got a great night's sleep. The was a complimentary breakfast in the morning that consisted mostly of local bakery projects, meats and cheeses. If you looking for modern amenities or a full HOT breakfast, you should stick with the major hotel chains. BUT, if you're into history and histrorical restorations, this place can't be beat. You had three different options for sauces, three different options for noodles (pre-cooked), several options of vegetables, and three options for meat. They cooked it in front of you. I opted for linguine noodles, a small amount of Alfredo sauce, mushrooms, and chicken. It was amazing. My husband got the tricolor tortellini noodles, all the veggies, and pesto sauce. He loved it! We got a bottle of wine, which was actually inexpensive compared to other places we go. Jacqueline was a wonderful, cheerful waitress. I will admit, you had to go through a bit of the casino to get there. Smoking is allowed in the casino so we were a bit nervous about the restaurant.
