It was ridiculous. Oh and the fact the BCID was expired. Um expired or not does not change my age that's stated on the card . So glad west coast understands. The purpose of asking for ID is to verify my age. I should not need to carry my entire portfolio of ID and credentials to get a bottle of wine not at 39 years old anyways I will always come here.

S9 I just had the Manager of West Coast Liquor store. Call me up on my cell to scream at me. A…read morecomplaint apparently made by an East Indian student. Don't know the students name, but he was new and I asked him where he came from, was he a student. He told me he go his Masters at UBC in cyber security. I asked out of curiosity because I use the store consistently. He talked about the fact there were no jobs in his field in BC. And he would have to try and find a job in Toronto or something. In my opinion you would think if their are no jobs in Canada, the best course would be take his valuable education back to his homeland. It's actually unbelievable that India doesn't have it own Universities. We have over abundance of foreign students. Instead of having to set up a whole new life without family. I would go home. Which is why I said to him maybe he should go back to India. I should have followed up w good luck finding a job in his field. If the worker is that sensitive he shouldn't be in Canada. I didn't say anything racist. I was just offering a possibility. So the Manager screamed at me, they won't accept or tolerate...exactly what did I do wrong. I asked him questions because he was new. And we've recently had a flood of foreign students moving into Kerrisdale. So the Manager yells at me and tells me I won't ever be able to buy drinks at his store again. I think he forgets who's paying for his salary. No skin off of me. There are plenty of stores everywhere. I wonder how long this kids student visas lasts. Anybody watching global news. Especially, what's going on in France. Will know there is now a serious backlash towards immigration. And that it well know that foreign students, decide they want a life here. And will break the law to stay. My personal politics have nothing to do with my questions. Manager is just being a dick and thinks it okey to call me up and tear a strip of of me. When I did absolutely nothing wrong. Was trying to get to know the new guy. If he walks around with an attitude that the World is out to get him. Then maybe it is. We don't go invading other people's countries. Build you own Universities. We have overpopulation and now the incoming immigrants. Which cause over crowding, rental and house increases. And people who don't come with the intention of integrating. I didn't say anything of this kind. He seemed fine talking about himself. Poor me behavior is un becoming. And so is the nasty dad speech being overly outrageous. Wonder what his boss thinks about losing 700 dollars a month. Maybe I'll call him up. Already found a better store for less money. Give me a break man, pathetic all round.

They harassed my friend over their ID for what amounted to a six pack of cider. They pretend they are doing due diligence when really they are shaming folks and making scenes, particularly the muscular short guy seems to have issues berating a customer like they've done a crime. Totally unprofessional. Feel free to ask them about wine; they don't know about that either, including easy questions like, "what's your biggest and cheapest wine (for sangria)?" "Uh this one is cheap." Next to it on the shelf sits a larger and cheaper bottle. Total idiots. I'm willing to forgive a lot of blunders during the pandemic but not rudeness, clear discrimination or blatant stupidity. Taking my six years of business elsewhere.

It is your friendly neighbourhood liquor store that has the lower prices from the privates and I'm all about saving some coin, especially on the alcohol front. They don't have a huge selection like the one that is across from my work (Cambie-Oakridge) but the prices are the same. They have a recycling area in the back, security guards watching so no one runs off stealing stuff. Parking is pretty good here, as you have the whole of the underground on the Safeway side to park, and walk a few steps and you are in here. Interesting design, as this is an older building, when you enter it's a regular door, with a handicap button, but when you leave, there is a big sliding door that goes sideways (so they must know people leave with shopping carts worth of booze). A good enough selection in terms of countries and regions for wine, as I said... your not getting signature store selection, but regular government prices. The big names, they got em, the smaller ones.. not so much. Considering the location of this one (hidden, a little) at least there is an option here.
