Unlike last year, I had daughter and her 'wheels' to enable me to catch what I wanted, and then have some quick & easy transport home with the goods this time!! Vodka, Canadian whiskey, dark rum, scotch, and an a bottle of Argentinian 'malbec' wine being featured (I much-enjoy a decent malbec, and could not pass on catching this one for a try). A good mix of spirits to put away in the 'cabinet' for the days ahead.

The cashier I had seemed absolutely miserable, no chatter, no asking if I would like a bag for the 4 bottles I had purchased (which you would think would be a no brainer), no smile, no eye contact throughout the entire checkout. I had to ask for a bag and at the end of the transaction and there of course was no have a nice day at the end. She definitely stayed the course at being absolutely useless at any type of customer service throughout the entire experience. Customer service isn't hard but the gal I unfortunately got stuck with had NO CONCEPT of what it meant. The manager of that store should be embarrassed to have someone like that dealing with people.

The lot is shared with Woody's Pub next door. The place is a bit dingy and cramped, but there are alcoholic beverages available for purchase. The cold beer and wine section is limited to a few small fridges, but it's good enough for when one is in a pinch. Pricing is noticeably higher than at the government stores, but oh well.

I bought the same wine from another private liquor store downtown over the summer for around $22. Here it was $28. Yikes! A nice pinot blanc that I paid $16 for at Liquor Depot was $24 at John B. Comparing John B's wine prices to BC liquor store prices is even more dramatic. They have a very good selection of wine--I have to say that much. But it helps to know your prices before shopping there! In the end, I walked out without buying anything.

A good idea I thought, decent prices on some grog I like, and we were heading nearby, via a car, so some easy shopping before lunch. Yeah, right ... no such luck!!! Two of the three products I was seeking were not on the shelves - the shelf cards indicated where the products should be, but the spots were empty. The third product was there, but was listed at full price!! Ok ... time to seek some staff assistance. After talking to the two staff persons, and getting the "we do not have, and do not know when we will have" crapola, I ended up accepting a 'rain check' for the two products they did not have - ignored the other, and we were out of there. Left to wonder - does getting these rain checks really help getting the actual products if/when they might come in? Seems all they could say was "call and ask". Thanks Safeway, I thought your liquor store was not for me when I went there the first time -- I know now those thoughts were on on-the-mark!!

I've been buying my favourite wine here among many other beverages since the store first opened. I…read morerealize it has changed owners since. I went in a couple of days ago and bought my usual box of wine (no judgement please ;)). Unfortunately, it didn't taste right. Something was off. I tried to exchange it twice. First time the manager wasn't there, second time the manager refused to do anything for me. I'm out almost 60$. He told me to contact the winery and maybe they would replace it. He has lost a long time customer. I shop at the Safeway there at least once a week but will now take my business for alcoholic beverages else where. I understand that government liquor stores will take back products that are not right but private liquor stores are at the judgement of the manager. The odds buying a product like this is very slim but beware taking a chance here. Once he has your money, you are out of luck.

Similar prices with most other liquor stores and great service and attitude. Very clean and organized. They do cash return for recycled bottle that are bought as their store like some others ones too. They carry my favourite brand's sparkling sake and a few good prosecco and one of my top choices are Lamarca. Their beers have a lot of unique and interesting labels and package designs. The have a few very nice strong and bitter beers as well. Lots of parking spaces and a safe area and bus stops at walking distance.

A young female staff who worked here greeted me politely and offered help to me. She introduced different bottles of wine to me. She was very patient and enthusiastic providing some recommendations to me. When I paid at the cashier, the same young female staff was very friendly and chatting with me about wine. I appreciate her help that made my buying experience better and easier. FYI - This was the first time I visited this small liquor store and I didn't expect to receive such a great customer service here.
