I only wish they offered a negative star rating so I could give that because this place does not deserve even one, but you have to mark something to be able to go on. I realize this is long, but please read it so you can see how using them can be dangerous and possibly cost your life.
I purchase a gas assist fireplace from them that was to have a lifetime guarantee. Apparently for Marty, the owner, that only applies if he never hears from you again. If you have an issue he does not honor the guarantee. Two or three years ago my fireplace quit working. The thermal coupling burnt out on my fireplace. I had Marty come out to repair it. He fooled around with it then told me he would not repair or replace the needed part. He told me that what I needed to do was replace the gas assist fireplace I had with a gas fireplace insert that would only cost me the very reasonable price of $5000.00 (double what I had already paid him). I told him I didn't want to go that way so he felt becoming condescending was the best way to deal with a customer. He told me he couldn't sell me the same type of fireplace as the government had made them illegal as they were so energy inefficient that they weren't allow to sell them any more. He said it was because so much energy escapes up the chimney allowing the cold air to come into the house. He felt he could show me an example proving this by the way my door to the outside "slams" when closing. Something that continues to happen when the flue is closed and it is summer showing that winter and poor energy efficiency has nothing to do with anything. He left refusing to help me since I wouldn't upgrade to the $5000 unit. All of this about not being allowed by the government to sell the gas assist fireplaces was a lie. They are still sold to this date. I knew at the time he told me this that is was not true as I knew someone that had just had one put in.
After he left I repeatedly smelled gas in my house. I had to call the gas company out 4 times regarding gas leaks. They finally shut off the line to my fireplace stating it couldn't be put back on until the leak was located and repaired.
This year I was finally able to afford replacing my fireplace. I of course went with another fireplace store. When they came out to install the unit I told them all that happened. I am extremely sensitive to gas leaks and while they were installing the new fireplace I smelled gas. They started tracing where the leak could have come from and found out it was as a result of the way Fireplace 'n Fixin's installed my original fireplace. When installing the gas line they inserted a line much too large for the size opening they created causing the line to end up getting holes the length of the line. This is what was causing the leaks giving the gas odor i was smelling. The wall that the fireplace is in was filled with gas. If the new people hadn't discovered it I would have lit my fire and blown up my house killing all of us thanks to Fireplace 'n Fixin's and their neglect.
Please don't buy from these people if you value your life and want to be treated respectfully as a customer and not just have them take your money and run. read more
