Yes the sandwich was pretty good, good quality pastrami as well. You can see the workers add additional meat drippings, and the sauce was actually top notch. All very solid components but nothing mind blowing. Maybe I'm bias and think of sandwiches as snack food with deli meats rather than whole meals. I became a fan. At that point, few sub chains toasted their bread. Scrubway (Jennifer P. needs to copyright it, as I use it all the time now) didn't do it. Neither did Mr Sub. When I moved back to the GTA, there were a few Quiznos stores nearby. One was where my local Scrubway is, roughly five minutes away. The other one was closer to my workplace at the time, at McCowan and Sheppard Avenue East in Scarborough. Both are long gone. Frankly, the only Quiznos that I dropped by recently was on Bay Street, a few blocks away from Scotiabank Arena. I'd go there for a quick bite before a concert. The other evening, I was driving from Canadian Tire to Song Tea along Woodbine Avenue. My head turned when I saw the Quiznos sign to my left. Where have I been and why hadn't I ever noticed this sign? I kept thinking about it. I decided to fetch dinner here last Saturday. After getting my bubble tea, I drove over to this eatery. This Quiznos is in a plaza, a couple of doors down from Mi Ne Sushi, a place that I frequented perhaps eight years ago or so. I found a parking spot halfway down the row of parked cars and backed into it. I walked in and got a woman who said hi. She was busy preparing an order. I saw her fill a container with soup. You can dine in. However, tables and seating are limited. Once she was finished with that order, she focused solely on me. My usual subs are the black angus steak and mesquite chicken. I deviated from both when I saw the beef and swiss melt. I got a foot-long on rosemary parmesan bread. She asked me whether I was good with mushrooms. Yes, said the mushroom freak. Oh, how I have missed being at a Quiznos. I like seeing my sandwich go through the toasting conveyor and come out looking all yummy. I paid with a credit card. This place only accepts credit and debit cards. She wrapped up my sub and handed it over in a bag. I thanked her and left happy with sub in hand. My car smelled so good as I drove home. The only reason I didn't devour my sub was because it was in the backseat and I couldn't reach it while driving. It's a good strategy if you don't have any willpower. I had my sub when I got home. I devoured the whole thing. I normally do an 8" sub, but I was hungry. I'm so glad I went big. The sub looked narrower than I recall. Then again, I have had Jersey Mike's Subs these days that they look gigantic compared to any sub out there. I loved the beef and swiss melt. The beef was tender, juicy, and yummy. The swiss cheese was the perfect amount and was melty delicious. The mushrooms were yummy although this mushroom fanatic would have enjoyed more of them. The bread was excellent toasted. Yum all around! I'm so glad that I found this Quiznos. I was the only customer in the store and I suspect that it does quiet business with all restaurants around it. They also have one of those nice machines w/ tons of different soda options to choose from (peach mello yellow zero SUPER UNDERRATED). Shoutout to Donte who helped me with my order as a first-timer to this store! Love that I was able to stack a bunch of extra add-ons for no additional charge. The Firehouse Club is essentially a spicy grilled chicken sandwich with their special hot sauce, hero sauce, and crushed pepper flakes. It was really good and tangy. The Hook and Ladder sub though was honestly my favorite of the sandwiches I've had so far. It comes with Smoked Turkey Breast and Honey Ham and the meat was so tender and soft. It wasn't salty at all. My main concern was that the deli meats would be too salty. But it was perfect. I really do like place for sandwiches but I do think that their prices are a bit pricey. I mean they aren't really big sandwiches and most of them cost $11.99-15.99 for a medium (8 inch sub). They definitely don't skimp on the meat though as you can see from my pictures. So I would definitely still come back when they do have deals which seems to be pretty often to be fair. I am interested in trying their New York Steamer next. The quality is there, and they don't skimp on fillings/toppings. I ordered takeout through the app so I could get a deal - there are lots of coupons within the app. My order was ready for pick up at the requested time. They have a hot sauce bar in the shop - about 20 different hot sauces to try, I ordered 3 subs - they each come with a tasty pickle spear. Here they are in order of preference: - New York steamer was the winner. It was piled high with corned beef brisket and pastrami and worked well with the mustard and mayonnaise (maybe a touch less mayo next time for me). Note that if you're used to eating low sodium meals, you'll find this on the high end of acceptable saltiness. - Pepperoni pizza meatball. The meatballs were decent quality as well, not mushy, though hard to eat for a little kid as a whole meatball would come out with each bite. The pepperoni is a bit spicy so some people might be sensitive to that. I would have liked more marinara sauce but that is a personal preference. - Italian. It was overwhelmingly sweet, mostly from the honey ham. Once I took out the majority of the ham, the flavours were much better balanced, though then I could taste that the bread itself was a little sweet. This one isn't good as a leftover due to the wet toppings in it (tomato and lettuce). Overall, I'm happy with this experience and would definitely add come back.
