The only reason I gave this review 2 stars is because they put a lot of meat on the sandwich. This philly sub was ok but nothing amazing. The bread was too thick and was soggy by the time I got home. My entire sandwich fell apart so I had to eat it with a fork. I also barely tasted any cheese, which you always want more of on a Philly cheesesteak! Used to be a solid franchise in the past but lately wait has been extremely long for food. Went in today and was told by cashier that it would be 30 min before food would be ready. I give up on the South Tampa Fire House location. I thought ordering on Uber would give better service. It does not matter what notes you put on the order because they do not read them. My order was white bread, no onion, Mayo or pickle. I received whole wheat bread, loaded with Mayo and onions and a pickle. I paid for a bottle of soda and received a fountain drink. I was the only customer with four guys behind the counter. Ordered meal pretty quickly, and it was made pretty quickly. Cons: - Sandwich was sloppy and incomplete. Only vegetables on half. Bread was so soggy. Was not to the same standard as other Firehouse restaurants. - Place was filthy, like they just had the lunch rush, despite no other customers being in the place. Typical Firehouse subs! I received great customer service and the sandwich was made perfectly, nothing was falling out or sliding off. Received my food quickly too. Only reason for 4 stars is the store is a little beat up. Air vents could use cleaning, lots of sticker residue on the door, small things. I don't know if i've ever been to this location but they have the house sauce in packets and 3 different hot sauces in packets. I thought that was a pretty good selection. Basically turning down customers (telling them 30 minute wait) because they are so backed up. This is the time to shut down online orders and take the walk-in customers. I patiently waited while they finished up all they online orders, they put a lone sub on the counter but never called out who's it was. I didn't want to ask them if it was mine because all the employees were stressed about how backed up they were, so after about a 40 minute wait he looked at the sub and said my name. She got hers in about 15-20 min and after continuing to wait another 10 min, I went up and asked about it. They hadn't even started it so told me they would immediately. Another 10 minutes, with my friends long gone, I went back up and STILL NO ONE HAD STARTED IT. There were at minimum 15 people that came in after us that were served while I was waiting.....So, I get it that mistakes happen...but this is ridiculous. Steamer! That's my favorite since it reminds me of what good deli want to be... Is it the most awesome ever? Perhaps not 5-alarm but it definitely hits the spot when the bell rings. Kids love the meatball sub and don't question the wheat bread. Why? Because the soda machine is their fix! Whatever concoction you can think of...there is an option. So do I prefer Firehouse subs over the big M for a meal. You betcha...Sure do! There are lots more options and the great thing is that they are hot. Not your run-of-the-mill S-subs. The only hitch recently was that the made me the wrong sub (new staff) with turkey. But once notified, they made a a new one and bagged half of the large to-go, since I had ate part of the first one before realizing it. read more

This place is very small I picked up my order and brought it home. We had the BLT and it's nothing special about that. I also have the steak and cheese sandwich. Very much like a Philly cheese. The meat had excellent flavor. The bun needed toasting. I think they run it through some kind of warmer or something but it really needs to be toasted on the outside to be The perfect sandwich. Everyone was nice and I will go back and get that steak and cheese again but I will bring it home and put it in my toaster oven and toasty outside of that bun!! read more

Food is ok. Cleanliness is borderline passable. What isn't passable is playing FOX News coverage of the CT school shooting on a Saturday afternoon when many parents with kindergarten-aged children are in the restaurant eating. Not sure what's happen over the last 3-6 months but this store has gone down hill. We were extremely disappointed in our sandwiches today. It was a pickup order of four sandwiches (hook-ladders and Italians) which they made quickly and was ready to go when we got there, however, the meat was packed in the middle of the sandwich and absolutely nothing but sauce and lettuce on the ends. It was like eating a meatball sub with one meatball. To make matters worse, none of the sandwiches came with a pickle!...I've always felt it should come with more than one spear anyway, but to not put a single one in for four orders?...Now, granted there was only one person working (that we could see), he probably got overwhelmed and forgot the pickles (it's possible) but to build the sandwiches that way...come on Firehouse! I'm from Michigan, so when I moved to Tampa I had never heard of Firehouse Subs. Most of my friends recommended it, so I gave it a try a little while back. I went with the turkey bacon ranch. While I appreciated the hot and toasted aspects of the sub, the taste was nowhere to be found. Didn't taste like turkey, bacon, ranch, or anything really. It just tasted like a bunch of stuff that fused together into a generic filling. I was really disappointed because I am a huge fan of peppercorn ranch - but even if I could have tasted it, it wouldn't have saved this sub. I'm not against giving Firehouse another try...but thus far I haven't. read more

I usually took them to be an okay sub, with a good sauce, the Captain sauce. I didn't like the way some of the franchises served food, but this location by Plant High was pretty good. They went up to "notable", with the new line of under 500 calorie sandwiches. I got a beef sriracha sub that was good, meaty, less bread and met my diet goal. I was pretty happy with it. I have waited a long time to try this place. I guess I am more of a wrights deli kind of girl. It's definitely a huge step up from subway, but also nowhere near wrights. They have a lot of good combos for their sandwiches. But the price is high for a counter lunch, and the line was long for 11:30 on a weekday. Shocked at the terrible customer service. We ordered and the second guy decided to go make a drink and hang out with yet another employee while the guy (mike) took our order then made both of our subs.
