I have never before patronized a Firehouse Subs and could only rely on reviews to give me a hint of what to expect. But call me a tightwad, a cheapo, scotch, or a pennypincher. I found it hard to pass up a great deal. Firehouse had sent my son an email for a 2-fer... two medium subs (usually $12.99 ea), 2 bags of chips, and 2 drinks. All this for $16. The caveat was that it was a limited time offer, and you were required to order it online to get that price. Ok. I can do that! By the time we arrived, our subs were ready to go. The special offer limited you to five choices of subs. We went with a Hook & Ladder and an Italian. Our first impressions were mixed. First of all, it seems they ran out of turkey for the Hook and Ladder, so they doubled up on ham. In their defense, they tried calling me to warn me but left no message. Once there, we were offered the option to make a different sandwich, but Mr. B declined and had a nice honey ham sub instead. Our sandwiches appeared to not have the Italian dressing we had requested. There was plenty of mayo instead. It tasted fine, but we were hoping for a nice zingy Italian taste, too. They mixed up our bread choices. We got the exact opposite of what we had ordered. (The sub with a whole wheat roll was on white, and the sub on white roll was replaced with wheat.) Then there were the chips. Actual chip choices that day were limited. Only the less desirable flavors were available, unlike the nice varieties offered online. The chips were displayed on wire shelves near the cash register, so you can grab one for yourself. The dining room was freezing cold. At our request, they did shut off the AC temporarily, but it was back on before we left...in a hurry. This was on a mild, no jacket day in March. The extremely low temp set on the AC was definitely not needed that day. Let's move on to the good. The rolls were nice, soft, and warm as if fresh out of the oven, not microwaved. And, they were both delicious and tender, so the bread switch was not a big problem. The meats were all delicious. If I had to guess, there was about 3 oz of meat on the medium size. However, there was barely a hint of cheese on the Italian sub. That was disappointing. One day later, I returned for their hot meatball sub, same deal. This was quite good. The soda machine was self-serve, so you can help yourself to refills. The kitchen was well staffed and the staff were friendly and helpful. Their cheerfulness made our visit very pleasant. I would say that, for the discounted price, it was a very decent experience. I would return. For their normal prices, I would not. But I did download the app to catch any future deals. read more

Went in after they reopened and got two sandwiches. The girl said everything was on the sandwiches. I got the steamer and asked for no onions. So I assumed there would be something else on the sandwich. There was barely any pastrami and no roast beef. I got the beef dip with no cheese or onions. I don't know what happened. I feel like if I'm paying 31.00 dollars for two sandwiches they should have been some big sandwiches. This place is delicious. However, check your order for accuracy! One of the enjoyments of ordering here is something offered, as they ask you if you would like a pickle. Now, I know they're just pickles, but drove more than half way across town to get takeout from here and they did not provide the pickles. This was absolutely annoying, but I will know from now on to check my order for accuracy next time. Friendly staff and restaurant itself is super clean. Plenty of parking here but can be limited on weekends. A population boba cafe is next door, as well as a delicious taco establishment, so parking may be tricky. read more

What a wonderful surprise! I got a notification that I had a free birthday sub so I said hey let's do it! We came in on a weekday around 1 pm. The restaurant was clean and fairly empty. The staff at the counter took our order and processed my free sub. I got a turkey and cheese and my husband got the Italian. Wow, our sandwiches were prepared so quickly! We just had enough time to pick out our chips, fill up our drinks and sit down. My sandwich was a medium and it was huge! I asked for it warmed and it was delicious! Surprisingly, the sandwich was very light and not super filling. Right amount of meat and veggies. My hubs got a large and that is extremely huge! definitely could share that size. He loved his. I'll give you guys a one star! So disappointing!!! Ordered the firehouse pair New York steamer & macaroni &cheese. My husband had a new York steamer combo. First they forgot all about us !! Everybody was getting their order and I had approached them we still didn't get our order and they looked and they said it will be out shortly ! We get the sandwiches and hardly had any meat .... Still waiting for the macaroni & cheese 5 minutes later!! It looked like soup !! How disappointed we are! I did address it to Sarah and apologetic about my concerns as noted. She initiated to compensate us upon our return to make the sandwiches at no cost to us! She stapled and noted on her red book with a copy of my receipt. I was so excited to find out that Riverside finally got a firehouse subs! We drive all the way to Redlands just to eat there. We came to this location's second day open and it was such a great experience. My husband ordered our food without any hassle. The staff was extremely kind and attentive. The owner's are incredibly sweet and I know that they are going to keep this location in great shape. Really cannot even begin to start with all the great things to say. Once we walked into the door for lunch, the welcoming and friendly customer service was off the charts! I had never been to any Firehouse Subs but was immediately so amazed with the decor and atmosphere. I ordered a Club on a sub, no onions or mayo, and added chopped pickles in replace of them no issues. Sandwich came out perfectly! Fresh and delicious! The cashier was super friendly and full of life! I love that fact that you can round up your change and help the hero's of our community. Definitely will be going back again and again. I ordered the Italian with gluten-free bread. Got the combo for an extra $3.50. Total for two of us was $34. The meal felt pricey but was exceptional. The store was clean, the staff friendly and professional. I will definitely go back. The owner was there, but I didn't get a chance to ask him why the place was so slow during lunch rush. Smallest small sandwich I've ever seen in my life for $10.65 insane I will never come back here make the sandwich an inch longer and give three pickles the sandwich was empty it was only 5 bites. I came here on my birthday for the free medium sub, I was having a rough work day but the smiles on the faces of workers lightens my mood.
