Should philanthropic activities affect a review? If you think yes, as do I, then this is a five star review. Seeing that check for $2,273,672 written to "Texas Public Safety Organizations" was impressive. From https://www.firehousesubs.com/public-safety-foundation/ , "At Firehouse Subs, subs are only part of our story. A portion of your purchase in 2018 at all US Firehouse Subs locations goes to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, to be used to provide lifesaving equipment to first responders." Donate the change. As I finished paying, I was asked if I wanted to "Round up and donate the change?" I actually felt good about leaving the change behind at Firehouse Subs. Typically the counter top tip jars annoy me, but this round up concept did not. Also worth noting is that I did not see a tip jar. So onto the food. I received some coupons in the mail. The idea of a "hot sub" did not really appeal to me, but hey, I've got a coupon. On a first visit I typically go four stars at most, and that would hold for the single Italian sub (Genoa salami, pepperoni, Virginia honey ham, melted provolone, Italian dressing, and seasonings, served Fully Involved. Fully Involved® - Loaded complete with mayo, deli mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a kosher dill pickle on the side.) I dined on yesterday. It was a good sub, and much to my surprise, I liked my hot, via a steamer, sub. And, I have since learned "All of our hot subs are also available served cold. Just ask!" Staff here was very friendly and helpful. With another sub shop in the same strip, it's going to be hard to walk past the "Chili Pepper Relish" at JM's. Though Firehouse does have an impressive collection of hot sauces (see photo), nothing compares to JM's CPR. And, although I tried several, the hot sauce on my Italian sub didn't really work for me, but... Bottom line: When things cool off, I'm looking forward to giving Firehouse's chili a try. Now there's a use for all that hot sauce.

I love the salads at Firehouse. They are filling and fresh. There are three options but I always get the sliced turkey meat with mine. It comes with mozzarellas, tomato, cucumber, and bell peppers. These are all finely diced and put on top. The lettuce is romaine and thankfully no iceberg. There are two vinaigrette options for salad the balsamic and Italian. There are other options but I always opt for vinaigrette. I'm happy there are no crackers or bread served so I'm not tempted. The service here is fast and accurate. The staff greets you upon entry too. Great healthy lunch option.

I ordered the firehouse "hero" sub, and my husband ordered the spicy chicken Cajun sandwich.

I admit I had never been to this concept before - what make it different from (the) other sub places is that most/all?

Aw man, I have to deduct some stars for my most recent visits. Sadly, the past two times I have…read moreordered food from this location it has been lackluster for sure. Not the Zaxbys experience I've ever received, in fact. To start, no greeting whatsoever when you enter. That was ALWAYS a Zaxbys thing, to say hello at least. I ended up standing there at the counter for almost a minute with the cooks staring at me before anyone came to the register to take my order. I could tell drive thru has priority now because that is where all the employees were standing. My food was good, just the tenders seemed small! I ordered extra sauce and it was in the bag thankfully. But there's only one trash station in the whole dining area, none outside either. So if you're in need of throwing away your trash, it's on the drive thru door side. Lastly, the cashier taking orders wasn't giving customers their drinks. He was waiting until they received their food, but I politely asked if I could go ahead and get my drink cups since my kiddos had been looking forward to a sweet drink. I noticed quite a few upset customers who were standing around trying to get their drink cups while the cashier was at the drive thru window. Disappointing because I used to love zaxbys, but this location doesn't have the same staff as previous visits. Customer service kept me coming back and paying $10 for a Big Zak Snak, but I'm not so sure about it anymore. Raising Cane's will probably be my go-to since it is closer and has better customer service, even though I'd prefer Zaxbys sauces.

A family was doing their kids birthday out there; which we got to see the team do amazing getting a catering sized order ready for them while taking care of the normal drive thru and dine in traffic. The burger one of us got was better than most fast food burgers; but we still have a few that top this one. My kiddo liked the chicken kids meal; and the sauced chicken was decent. They use really good pickles for their fried pickles. The fries were just ok; and I thought the shake would have been bigger but it was still good. (I had ordered a small shake; they brought out a medium because of a delay but it looked like what I would call a small at places like Sonic or Braums.) We will be keeping it on rotation for the nights we're over here and ran out of time to eat before we left home.

This might be a good stop if you need something familiar but not one of the normal chains we have more of in this area.

Last time we were here I had hot/lemon pepper wings (like I get everywhere) and loved them. So we came back to get them again and was told the cook wouldn't do that this time..... don't serve it to me once have me come back for the same thing, and then not the next time. Probably won't be back, we will got to ANY of the other wing spots where I have never been told they couldn't add lemon pepper spice on just because it dirties up the bowl they toss the wings in .... Great waitress who always takes care of us and she even told me it wouldn't happen based on the cook that day. SMH To add insult to injury, the first review on yelp was someone saying also how good the hot/lemon pepper was come on yall! It was recommended by the staff member and Im intrigued enough to return for another burger run. I didn't like the fries, they were limp and lacked any real seasoning, I questioned if they were even once potatoes. These need some extra time in the fryer to crisp up or a new supplier. We also tried the nachos they were... odd. The flavors didn't sit well, kinda like eating 1000 island dressing on a tortilla chip. Lastly I didn't like the chicken sandwich, but that could've been the sweet-and-spicy sauce I put on it as the flavor combination with the coleslaw and bun just didn't work. I would return for wings and a burger but skip the sides and sandwich options. Rating the wings and burger only for 4 stars.
