Workers are very good. I was waiting for my boyfriend to arrive so I wasn't ordering but both workers came to check on me(separately and at different times not knowing the other had) to see if I was ready to order. Plus, it's clear they keep the store clean. Love the potato soup. The meatball sub is good too. I like the classic one, but the sweet and spicy one is too hot for my taste. This place is wonderful! The choices are so vast & everything was hot and fresh! The crew was so patient with me. I did have a very large order, and it was complicated on top of that! I messed up at the card reader trying to juggle my phone to get orders right, and they never once made me feel I needed to just get through. It was so refreshing to go into an establishment and actually feel welcomed. The manager was helping with my order. It was refreshing to see folks with such an attitude for customer service! I got home, and every order was exactly like I ordered. Most times, especially with takeout orders, are wrong somewhere, but even with all the changes to items I made, my order was spot on! stopped at fire house subs in Cookeville yesterday ordered two subs two drinks and a bag of chips $36 then went to pay and handed the girl a $100 bill she said I can't break that. left before we walked up a family spent $60 plus dollars. I'm sure she had change. she looks at me and said I can take two $20s. well if I had two twenties don't you think I would've used them. she said is that all you have and I told her yes , she stood there and just l at me like I was stupid. so I told my wife let's go somewhere else. not sure if they don't take $100 there or company wide but I'm pretty sure a $100 is still legal tender in the USA!!! read more

Firehouse Subs in Cookeville opened about a year ago, I've been at least two dozen times since then. The food tastes like Quiznos, if Quiznos actually made good food. There's only about eight subs on the menu, but its more about quality then quanity. Still there should be something for everyone as some of my personal favorites are the Italian, the beef and cheddar, and the meatball. Firehouse has a nice touch of having hot sauces you can try with your subs, their sorted by hotness on a scale of one to ten. So you don't have to worry about trying something to spicy. I recommend their house sauce which isn't to hot, but has a bold flavor. Each sub comes with a pickle, and chips and a drink are just two dollars more. That's where this place is worth a visit, their drink machine is one of the new Coke Free Style machines, which has over 150 different drink choices. My favorite is Mellow Yellow Orange. Overall Firehouse isn't my favorite sub place, (that would be Jimmy Johns) but it sure beats Subway. read more

Love Firehouse!my favorite is the Hook and Ladder - though I add jalapeños! The ham they use has a slightly sweet, smoky flavor which counterpoints nicely with the turkey. I dunno why a previous reviewer said the meat is cold unless they didn't want it toasted which firehouse happily does. They also have a great tuna sub. We were Passing through Cookeville, and we decided to stop for dinner. Firehouse is a family favorite and it's normally quick, so we decided to stop here. At 6:00 in the evening, the place was empty, and now I know why. The girl taking our order was nice, but she didn't get the order right. It took two tries for them to get a kid's turkey on wheat correct. It came out as a burned ham on wheat at first. I took it back and said just turkey on wheat and please don't toast. Our other sandwiches already came out burned, so I figured I'd just ask for them to not toast it. So they get it fixed and hand me a burnt turkey on wheat. I demanded them to just hand me a kids turkey on wheat not toasted again. Finally it came out right. Our other sandwiches were burnt, but we didn't have time to deal with it. We just tried to scrape off as much burn as possible and then ate part of the sandwich. We just left, and we'll never be back. We come to the area often, and I will avoid this place in the future. You have a bunch of kids working there just standing around and cussing, and they don't know how to NOT burn bread. Horrible experience. read more

My husband and I have visited this Firehouse Subs three times now. We visited in the first place because of the commercials claiming they have the best meatball subs and we wanted to judge that. Our first visit was wonderful. Great food, polite and swift service, and a clean establishment. Five star experience. Second visit, we dealt with a manager who rang us up for just the sandwiches when we'd asked for combos. We didn't even notice the issue until my husband, thinking we'd paid for what we asked for, grabbed a pack of chips and we were yelled at by said manager for trying to run off without paying. We apologized for the miscommunication, paid for the chips separately and were on our way. Third visit was our last. We had the exact same issue again. Same manager. Even though we stressed we wanted the combos. We did end up noticing the mistake quicker, but not without being spoken to like we'd tried to steal. We're easy to please and won't normally cause a fuss over this sort of thing. It's pretty bad when your managers can't even take an order correctly and then make their customers regret even ordering from them in the first place. read more

My family stopped in here on a road trip. We arrived at 8:30 (closing time 9pm) and were immediately warned that "we close at 9 so this will be takeout....right?" So after spending $40 we left with our sandwiches......only to discover that they were cold, the bread was stale, and the pickles on the side resembled limp noodles. At the end of the day the quality of the ingredients does not justify the price. When you drop 10 bucks on a meal at Jimmy Johns, you walk away feeling like you just ate some premium food. I simply didn't get that feeling here. There aren't a lot of other sub options here in Cookeville though, so relative to other options it's all right. read more
