I was in town with my family to celebrate the new year. We checked out Yelp to find the best BBQ in town. Firehouse had lots of 5 stars so we checked it out. Collectively, we ordered the brisket, tri-tip, pork ribs, fries with pulled pork, cole slaw, fries, and mac&cheese. The Good: 1] The pork ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and moist. The BBQ sauce made it burst with flavor. This was excellent. No doubt. 2] Service was efficient and friendly. Like many bbq restaurants, you order at the counter as you enter, they give you a number card to post on the table of your choosing, and when your order is ready they'll bring it to your table. 3] Plenty of parking in the back of the restaurant in its own lot. The Bad: 1] The tri-tip was the worst I've ever had. I ordered it medium, but it was cooked poorly. The outer 25% was well-done and the remaining 75% was rare. Not surprisingly, the well-done portion was as tough as nails. I could barely get my teeth through it. Here's the kicker: the rare part was as tough as rubber! I thought for sure the rare portion would be tender. To my shock, this portion was almost as tough as the well done portion. 2] Brisket. Cooked more evenly than the tri-tip. But still old-rubber-tire tough! 3] Cole slaw. I usually find that most bbq restaurants over-salt their side dishes. But the cole slaw at Firehouse was like eating wet cardboard. No flavor. Very disappointed. 4] Mac and cheese. Mac was overcooked and soggy. Cheese (much like the cole slaw) had no flavor. Again, I normally think that most bbq restaurants over-salt their side dishes. But Firehouse overcompensated and didn't add enough salt. Overall, one of the most disappointing bbq experiences in my life. When back in town, I will avoid the Firehouse. read more

Just moved to Fallbrook and stopped in here yesterday with my Wife for lunch. Had met one of the owners (Chuck, great guy that owns Fallbrook Brewery) and told him we'd check it out. The sandwiches were awesome, staff very friendly, and they had a great selection of local craft beers. I had a brisket sandwich and she had catfish. Both were great in the atmosphere was awesome too. The Firehouse is a delicious local BBQ and brew- it's a great place to take the family. We had the Mac and cheese with pulled pork and fries- it was SO good. We also had the full rack of ribs with spicy corn and beans. The corn was the best I've had, the meat on the ribs literally fell off the bone. The flavor was smokey BBQ goodness. I love the variety of BBQ sauces- original, sweet and spicy. Watch out for the spicy because it's just that- SPICY- compliments the ribs. The customer service is beyond excellent- we were cared for and asked multiple times how the food was and if we need anything. We will definitely be back here again! read more

So far this is the best BBQ I have found in Southern California. I had the pulled pork and my wife had the ribs. We travel to Texas often and the BBQ there is off the hook... this place sure gives Texas BBQ a run for the money. I never order ribs, but after a bite of my wife's rib plate I just may come back for the ribs. Outstanding. EVERY employee we met was in a great mood and loves working here and was super helpful. My family and I have been here a few times now. It seems they are always out of several things on the menu each time we have visited. Which is a bummer because they do have good food, and it's unfortunate to be thinking about an item you want, only to find out once again they're "out" :( They should get better at doing their inventory and what foods they sell most often and on what night. The first time I went, I ordered the chicken Caesar salad which was really good! The prices are okay. Be ready to spend at least $40 before tip for 2 people and one soft drink. Last night we went, I got the brisket sandwich. Which was amazing, melt in my mouth awesome-ness. Wonderful. We got pickle spears and they were the best I have ever had!! My husband had the tri tip. His meet was extremely dry but tasted pretty okay. Good flavor. Their French fries tasted old and soggy. They weren't warm and they didn't taste very good. The cole slaw has no flavor. The Mac & Cheese looked amazing..but it was only okay. It didn't taste much like cheese but it did taste like a hint of garlic. My husband ordered the garlic mashed and he says they are the best he has ever had! After we finished eating we went up and ordered some Bread Pudding. The younger gentlemen working noticed my husband's debit card and asked if we are military and then informed us he would give us the military discount. That was very observant of him and very nice! That would have been nice had the older man noticed and given us a military discount on our dinner. The younger gentleman working was awesome. This place is absolutely amazing. The food is incredible and the beer bar always has good stuff revolving through. The meats are all tender and delicious with generous portions. The pulled pork topped Mac and cheese fries are an absolute must. They do trivia nights, local brewery tap takeover nights and are very service oriented. I love this place. I would eat here all the time if the rest of my family would agree to it. Delicious coleslaw, husband loved the brisket, kids love the Mac and cheese and I love all of it. I was pretty excited about this place but was left dissapointed. Ordered the sampler so we tried all the meats they offered plus the spicey corn and mashed potatoes. All the meats were extremely dry but the BBQ had okay taste. Had to keep getting up though to ask for drinks not sure if they don't have servers or what the deal was sense no one explained it to us.
