To start we got the brisket plate with two sides, fried okra (excellent) and cowboy beans ( my husband likes them but I felt they were a bit undercooked; the brisket OMG it was fall apart excellent!! We liked it some much we ordered the brisket sandwich again with two sides, house made Cole slaw (amazing) and the french fries! Their brisket sandwich was the best I've ever tasted and I've had some dang good brisket in Fort Worth, Texas. We will definitely come back. read more

Lured into the restaurant with the outdoor smoker, we were very happy when the let us come in before the restaurant opened to check out the menu and enjoy the warmth inside. Only two of us, but we did the combo of all the meats with three sides. All the meats were super tender and melted in ya mouth goodness. I ordered the chicken plate. It's a BBQ restaurant So i was expecting some BBQ smoked chicken. What I got was unseasoned and definitely not smoked. It was like the equivalent of eating boiled chicken. Potato salad lacked luster. Mac and cheese was okay. Was it worth $25 ? In my opinion, it's a hard no. Went today for lunch. I was very disappointed in the taste of every single item. The pulled pork, ribs and brisket were dry and tasteless. Lacked seasoning of even salt and paper. I ordered the 2 meat thing and got pulled pork and brisket, with the cowboy beans and mac and cheese. i ordered to go, and when I got home i thought they gave me the wrong thing. it was 2 of the smallest slices of brisket ive ever seen, and a piece of pulled pork that i could have eaten in 3 bites. It didnt come with sauce, and the pork was pretty dry. the mac and cheese was decent and so were the beans but 25$??????! absolutely ridiculous price for below average bbq. Just would like to start off by saying we come here all the time , the food is always good and as usual 10/10. But today was the worst service I have ever gotten here by far ! The girl who dropped our food off just left it at the table and didn't bother to ask if we needed anything else with it . (Would have been nice to have had some ranch with my garlic fries ) . Then I finally got up and asked if I could have another sweet tea and she said " sorry I turned the soda machine off " . As I can see the tea is sitting on the counter ... she left the table and didn't come back so I had to get up again and ask what's on the counter ? Is that not tea ? And she said that's unsweetened tea , you asked for sweet tea .... Any good server would have offered anything else whether it was unsweetened tea or WATER!!! In town from Texas to visit my Marine son coming home from deployment. I grew up in San Diego but had never been to Fallbrook so this was a first. Someone recommended the BBQ here but being a connoisseur of Texas BBQ I was a little hesitant. When we walked in the first test was passed. The smell from smoking was strong and started getting me hungry. I don't eat BBQ if you're can't smell it inside where they cook. So I decided on a two meat plate and chose chicken and of course brisket. You can tell a lot about the Q from how these two taste. They recommended he potato salad and I just wanted to try their mac n cheese. Not terribly pricey and I was impressed they bring the order to you. When it arrived I have to say it passed the 2nd test of what it looked like. I prefer wet brisket and not dry. Everything looked good. The brisket was really really good. Just enough fat left on the cuts and moist like I was hoping for. I have to say great flavor too. That chicken though.....not dry at all and packed full of flavor. Pretty hard to keep chicken from drying out when you smoke it. They did it and well. The sides were good but the star is the meat! I might even squeeze in a second trip with my son now since he loves the Q too. read more

I got the chicken sandwich (dark meat) which was delicious but it was missing the coleslaw. My friends also got to-go orders that each had missing items: we didn't get the extra slaw and potato salad sides, and the salad didn't have any avocado. Giving a 3 stars because the service wasn't the friendliest (at the least the guy taking our order but the young woman who brought out our order was nice) and we didn't get half of what we ordered - which is not only unfortunate but means meals weren't even built as advertised. read more

We were in Fallbrook and wanted to try something different and bbq just sounded good. Place wasn't super busy but after we were done the place started picking up. Got the 2 meat combo and my wife got the pulled pork The food was good but lacked seasoning but the homemade sauce helped some. The place was clean and the workers were friendly. My wife loved the sweet tea and I got a Sprite. You can see the sides and they were ok. Would I go back...definitely! Next time I come I'm trying the bread pudding. read more

I have a very mitigated feeling about this place. My friends were on vacation, coming from San Jose, they were feeling like having a good BBQ so I found the Firehouse on yelp and we decided to give it a try. We were really hungry so we ordered a lot of different sides , a chicken salad, chicken burger (hot chicken sandwich) and brisket. While the brisket was "okay" (3 stars), the chicken on the salad was dry and the sauce slightly too sweet. The chicken sandwich was alright but nothing amazing, certainly not comparable to something you'd get in the south. The main disappointment were coming the sides. The Mac and cheese were seriously off (bad water? bad cheese?) and cold (0 star or less), the coleslaw way too bland, beans overly sweet, I couldn't eat them, we actuall wasted quite a bit of food. Would I go back to give it one more try? Maybe... but not anytime soon read more

I'm from the south so maybe I am used to other types of bbq, but Firehouse was decent. When you first walk in you order at the counter. I ordered pulled chicken and I don't know if there was a miss understanding considering the menu said pulled chicken, but it wasn't the traditional BBQ pulled chicken I'm used to. I tried clarifying pulled chicken multiple times and just ended up getting chicken still on the bone NOT pulled. I wasn't a huge fan of the Mac and cheese, it just was too garlicy tasting. The fries and coleslaw were super good. My husband got a brisket sandwich and said it was good just a little dry. No complaints about the BBQ sauces, both the sweet and original tasted great. The service was good and they kept checking in on us to make sure we have everything we needed while eating. Overall it's a decent BBQ place in the west coast, just not my favorite BBQ place. read more

One of my closest friends was just re-stationed here from Texas (where he was born and raised) so to say the least, he's very familiar with BBQ. He always tells me if the brisket isn't good nothing else will be! I moved to Fallbrook a little over a year ago and have been a frequent diner here. I've brought several family and friends and recommended this restaurant too many clients. So needless to say, I was excited to take my friend here. He ordered the half pound brisket plate with the creamed corn and fried okra. The brisket was horribly dry & the fried okra was soggy. I told him that in the past, there were a few times I experienced the same, however the server immediately replaced it, and it was delicious. I flagged down the blonde lady that also works the bar. She came over and we told her about the brisket being dry. She shrugged her shoulders and just said oh sorry is there anything else you want? WHAT? Wow....bad day? Before I could say anything, my friend asked if he could get a beer. She asked what kind. His reasonable response was what do you have? In her rude tone she said well it's right up there on the menu. As her head turned towards the bar, so did ours. Seeing that nothing was there, she said "oh I forgot to turn the sign on. I'll turn it on so you can decide what you want." Yes, at this point I was quite perturbed, embarrassed, and disgusted. My friend said it was OK. It was not OK. I went up to the register and spoke with the young lady we placed our order with. With a smile, she said I'm so sorry and I'll be over as soon as I can! Of course it took quite some time as there was a line and she was the only person working up there. By the time she came over, my friend was almost done with his food minus the soggy okra. (He had not eaten anything all day long as he loves BBQ and was starving when we got there ) of course he was excited due to my raves about it. So unfortunately, at that point, she was unable to do anything. At least he enjoyed the fries, mac & cheese with pulled pork I ordered. The three stars is for the very sweet and smiling not to mention good customer service young lady (short dark hair) we placed our order with. Fallbrook Is a great place to live. Good country folk, family oriented. Most of the restaurants I have been to, the employees also live in Fallbrook. My friend has been stationed In California several times since he joined the military. He would always drive to Fallbrook to eat whether it be breakfast lunch or dinner and always received Great customer service. So both of us were quite shocked at the one employees behavior/attitude today. So to that employee: I'm sorry if you were having a bad day, however being in the customer service industry, you have to check that at the door when you walk into work. This is the first time seeing my friend much less having a meal with him in almost 10 years. Why? Glad you asked! Because he's been deployed in war zones/been in combat since he joined almost 30 years ago at 18 years old. First tour Pakistan. And not once have I ever heard him complain about it. First time eating here. You order at counter and take a number to your seat. We order two pulled pork sandwiches with fries and garlic potatoes. It took over 30 minutes to get our food. The sandwiches were cold and the meat was bland. At these type of restaurants they seem to ask for a tip at the front end before service. I don't typically tip until afterwards. I left a small tip at the very beginning and then was going to leave cash if the food and service was good. I'm wondering if the management noted my two dollar tip and gave us lousy Service thinking that was the only tip they were going to receive. The reason I say this is because the couple who sat next to us received immediate service and their food, which appeared to be warm. It's really too bad because the restaurant has a great feel to it. Found this place on Father's Day and we'll definitely be back. Great BBQ! The brisket practically melted in your mouth and when they say "home made" potato salad they mean it. It was delicious. They were busy with the holiday crowd but all of the staff were super friendly, and obviously took pride in their efforts to deliver authentic Texas style BBQ. We are from Los Angeles, The bbq here taste home made and authentic not like Lucile's where the bbq is tough. We had the sampler and peach cobbler with ice cream. Eve thing taste so delicious, especially the cobbler! The service is top notch! They cater to your needs and make sure you have everything you need! They really make you feel appreciated and comfortable. The ambiance is chill there's a bar, games, and a tv that you can watch the game on. You can bring the whole family and stay for a while, they don't rush you off. Your not just another number here they treat you with care. Been here a few times by myself as well as with a large group of coworkers. Lunch tends to be busy during midweek so plan accordingly. Parking is limited to their private lot so it may be a good idea to carpool. Service can be good and great as long as they aren't slammed. Had a few small issues when I came in with my work crew like wrong meats on salads and wrong drinks but their staff was quick to resolve the problem. Look for their daily specials... you can thank me later. I like both their sweet and original bbq sauces. There is just enough spice and sugar to add some flavor to their meat... I'm not saying they need it but I tend to get lost in the sauce if you catch my drift. Some people like their meat dry, some people like their meat saucy - whatever floats your boat. There are a few flat screens on showing sports as well as news. The bar is a good size and comfortable should you choose to grab an adult beverage. Stopped in with a coworker on Wednesday while doing business at Fallbrook Weapons Station. That's one of our favorite places due to the great barbecue that's available. They have regular daily lunch specials and occasional specials. Wednesday is pork rib lunch special, for ribs with french fries coleslaw. We opted for their special of a Memphis pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and an extra side. For my extra side I went with cowboy beans while my friend went with french fries. Note to self, for that particular special I should've got the coleslaw on the side like my friend did as his portion was much bigger. I thought the sandwich was terrific! Very happy I tried something a little different than the normal Wednesday rib special. Looking forward to our next visit! read more

For small town BBQ it's so great! I've frequently ate here and even attended a murder mystery party here. The staff is great, helpful and quick. Not once did my water or sodas run dry and I never felt like I needed to flag someone down for some help. My family loves this spot for dinner. The portions are large enough that we can all share with one another so we don't have to order the same thing to enjoy the same foods. Their kids menu even features a large variety of food for all ranges of picky - cause, you know, kids lol. I k no PQ my picky eater loves the ribs and Mac n cheese. The place is small, however, it offers a really cute outdoor spot as well. There is a lot of seating inside too, it looks bigger in the inside than the outside leads on.
