Just learned how to do a basic crochet!
Odanys V.

I am impressed. I walked into Firefly on a whim because I saw that they had intro to knitting and crocheting classes. Now I have 0 experience with any of this but thought it would be a fun activity to try. When I walked in Sarah and Jackie were sitting making beautiful creations, these lady's skills are impressive. The class was $20 for an hour and even though I walked in the knitting hour slot Sarah was nice enough to go into crochet mode instead. She was a great teacher and didn't let me give up, I learned the basics and even got to keep practicing after the hour was done which I super appreciated. They have a beautiful array of yarns that were high quality and decent in price. Once I feel more confident in my abilities I plan to keep coming back to this locally owned shop and make something new. Kudos and thanks!

I found this little gem while in town for an extra day following a conference. This shop has a fantastic selection of gorgeous yarns in an array of beautiful colors, and they're very knowledgeable about both knitting and crochet. They're into natural fibers and dyes, so the yarn you can find here is of a quality and character that you can't find at a big store like Michael's. Luxe but affordable, and so many options! After learning many years ago, I walked in looking for help with my crochet technique and Sarah helped me SO much. She showed me a few different options, and I've finally found a more efficient, ergonomic approach to crochet. I also thought I was allergic to wool, when in reality the wool I had dealt with in the past was processed in a way that made my skin sensitive to it. Sarah showed me a beautiful line by Woolfolk that is soft, luxurious, and absolutely stunning - I ended up getting three skeins of three different colors/textures and I couldn't be happier. Sarah/Tina were so welcoming to me, I stayed a few hours working on a project and chatting with them and a few friends/neighbors who came and worked on their own projects. It was like finding a group of old friends, and it made me wish I had a store like this closer to home. Sarah also gave a knitting class to two beginners while I was there, and I was so impressed by her kind, attentive manner. This place is truly a gift, and exactly what I needed after a long week on the road. It really warmed my heart, and I can't wait to go back the next time I'm in Chicago!!

I've walked past here a number of times and always said that if my mother came to visit I would take her in here. She's an avid knitter, and thought this would be a great spot to share with her. I was completely right, she absolutely loved it when I took her in here on Friday. The different types of yarn, just to the feel of the store was so cool! And the spot set out for people to sit, socialize and knit was really cool as well. I know that I will be finding myself here again soon either per request of my mother, or going to get her a gift. Keep up the great work!

Firefly Fiber Arts is beyond welcoming; the shop is like a second home, where my son and I have been shown so much love. Their selection is small, but expertly curated, featuring 100% sustainable, natural fibers. If you're vegan, there are lots of plant-based options, and if you're fond of wool, you can rest assured that none of it is cut with acrylic!

Sarah is winding my skein into a ball. It's mesmerizing to watch!

If you want things done in a fast manner, this is the place…read more Things done professionally, i would keep looking I ordered 70 shirts, half different. 1 black 1 white. Both had same color embroidery in front, black shirts had white print in back, white shirts were supposed to have navy blue print in back. First run, they printed all white shirts with black printing, i promised myself i wasn't going to settle, these shirts meant a lot. So they had to redo them with the correct color printing. Him complaining should've been a red flag to just stop the order, but i always give 2nd chances. It was time to pick the final product up, we met at a place in the middle Of his place and mine, grateful for that. But even when i got there he complained about having to redo HIS teams mistake. The McDonald's parking lot was dark and i shouldn't have been intimidated by his attitude to just get me out of there without wanting me to look at all the shirts I got home. And the printing in the back is crooked on most sizes and the embroidery in front is super choppy. Unfortunately i spent a lot of money on these... my fault for accepting them. Just want to warn someone before they waste their money. Super disappointed in a place with 40 years of work.

This place is great - don't be fooled by the outside - it may seem like a warehouse or nothing…read morespecial from the outside, but this place is my #1 spot for screen prints. I work with P.Gabriel who owns this place all the time for cheap but quality screenprinting and embroidery. He usually has my order in a short period of time and he's very precise about his orders - I always go to Gabriel's first before anything for any team/group orders for shirts, jackets, jerseys, etc.
