After moving to Arizona in 2007, I've spent years searching for a slice that genuinely reminds me of home. While there are plenty of decent pizza spots throughout the Valley, very few capture that authentic New York style. Lil Capo Pizzeria absolutely does! Ironically, I first discovered Lil Capo after an Arizona Cardinals game. Like many people, I wasn't interested in paying stadium prices for mediocre food, so I jumped on Yelp looking for something nearby. Lil Capo had outstanding reviews, so we decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did because it's now my benchmark for New York-style pizza in Arizona. The first thing that stood out was the crust. This is exactly what a New York slice should be--thin, crispy on the bottom, slightly chewy inside, sturdy enough to fold, and never overloaded with grease. So many places think "New York style" simply means making a large slice. Lil Capo understands it's really about the balance of crust, sauce, cheese, and texture. Every bite reminded me why I miss pizza back east. The sauce has just the right amount of sweetness and acidity, the cheese is perfectly proportioned, and everything tastes fresh without trying to reinvent what already works. Sometimes simplicity executed well is the hardest thing to accomplish. Pizza: 5/5 Service was equally impressive. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and efficient. After selecting our slices, they quickly reheated them to perfection and had them on our table within minutes. It's exactly what you want from a neighborhood pizzeria--fast, relaxed, and genuinely hospitable. Service: 5/5 I also appreciated the atmosphere. Lil Capo isn't trying to be flashy or trendy. Instead, it has that classic neighborhood pizzeria feel where the focus stays exactly where it should--on making outstanding pizza. It's casual, comfortable, family-friendly, and somewhere you could easily become a regular. The pricing is another pleasant surprise. Considering the quality of the pizza and the generous slice sizes, I found everything to be very fairly priced. Overall Finding authentic New York-style pizza in Arizona has been surprisingly difficult over the years, but Lil Capo delivers exactly what I've been searching for. Authentic New York-style crust Excellent sauce-to-cheese ratio Minimal grease Friendly, efficient service Fair prices Comfortable neighborhood atmosphere I've eaten pizza throughout New York my entire life, and Lil Capo remains the closest I've found to the real thing anywhere in Arizona. Whenever I'm on the west side of the Valley--or heading to or from a Cardinals game--I find myself looking for an excuse to stop in. Next time, I'm skipping the slices and ordering an entire pie. If you're a fellow New Yorker living in Arizona and craving a slice that tastes like home, Lil Capo should be at the top of your list.

I visited Fire Pie on 7/05/2017 as I do weekly. This particular visit a gentleman approach to assist. He was carrying plastic containers to refill the salad area. He had plastic gloves on. He put down the containers and proceeded to make my salad using same gloves. Maybe its me, but it seems unsanitary considering they handle the food with their hands. I mentioned the glove situation to him but maybe he didn't hear as he without hesitation proceeded to handle the lettuce using the same rubber gloves. I continued to watch his hands to notice a red substance under the gloves which appeared to be blood from a cut. I brought it to his attention, he then took the gloves off and disappeared in the back. A young lady finished my salad, however I regret I didn't insist that she use new lettuce. I paid for my salad but was totally uncomfortable with the sanitary process. I couldn't bring myself to eat the salad. I called Fired Pie the next day and asked to speak with he Manager or Owner to be told by a young lady the owner was not in but she was the supervisor. I explained the situation, she took my information to include my number. She asked by why didn't I bring it up when in I was in (unprofessional). I explained that I don't think my timing is the point but management knowing there is a problem is paramount. The call ended being disconnected from her end without a follow-up call to conclude the conversation (unprofessional). I'm placing my complaint on Yelp because apparently the Supervisor failed to have the owner contact me and I believe he should be aware. read more

The 26th was my second Saturday night coming into the Fired Pie off of 75th Avenue and the 101. After my first experience with overfilled trashcans and the staff looking all over the place, I questioned whether I would come back again. But last night I decided to give it another chance, when I walked in and saw a line out the door, I didn't have the highest of hopes. However... my expectations were not only met, but EXCEEDED! The wait was long but the employees that were at the topping bar were very upbeat and had an extremely feel good attitude about them. The young woman with a black hat on register was very professional, apologizing for the wait, being very friendly and trying to help me with anything I needed. I had a fairly large order and did not know how exactly I would be able to take everything back to my car. Before I could even begin to think of what to do, the shift leader offered to have some one help bring my pizzas and salads to the car. I was then greeted by a young man named Cam who enthusiastically helped me bring all of my items to the car in one trip. This was the BEST service I have had in a long time from a 'fast-casual' restaurant! The cherry on top was that my kids LOVED the food, everything cooked to perfection! I am a regular, I was going to the deer valley location but when this location opened it was more convenient bc it was closer to my house. I absolutely love this place, it's addicting to be honest. The workers are all so friendly and nice. Everytime I go in I always am greeted with happy smiles! They all seem to love there job which is awesome! There are two sweet young ladies that I see almost Everytime I walk in and they are always helping eachother out and happy! I wish I knew there names so I could give them a shoutout or something on here. They always wear there hats backwards and I think one is named Hannah and the other one is AJ or andra or something like that bc I heard one of the employees yell at them for something in the back..which made me so sad bc they were working so hard, he was wearing a black hat so maybe he was a supervisor or something. My two sons and I love Fired pie! We come in to get some pizzas and a white chocolate macadamia nut pookie. We usually go on the weekdays since it is not as busy. However, this Tuesday night was packed! I ordered 4 pizzas to go for my family. The two lovely ladies helping me create the pizzas were amazing. Hands down, best service I received at this location. I believe their names were Lexi and Ashly when I asked. They greeted me and created conversation as they were topping my pizzas. I was wearing an O'Connor football T-shirt and the ladies graduated from that school. Overall, with how busy they were, my pizzas cooked fast and were yummy! read more

This is my first yelp review! My family and I came into Fired Pie for a quick lunch after church. It was busy but the staff was excellent and on task. However, when we got our pizzas, this sweet young lady brought them to us and said the pizza got a little crispy on the edges and they can remake it for us. I jumped on the offer because my children will not eat anything burnt! Oregano's is one of my favorite casual Italian spots in Arizona. I find their pricing to be fair and their portions to be so generous. My personal favorite dish is the Alfredo the Dark (no pepper). It is the perfect southwestern take on an Alfredo dish. We were in a dessert mood and we tried the skillet cookie. It was such a large portion and way too good.
