This fire alarm company caused a lot of unnecessary damage within my condominium and they avoid taking responsibility. Unfortunately, I had no choice with allowing this company to perform this work. Even before they started work in my unit, they cut two holes in my living room wall when cutting the hole out for the main alarm box in the hallway. When they did start the work in my unit they cut 4 unnecessary holes in my ceiling trying to run the cable above the sheetrock ceiling. They literally drilled one 2 inch diamater hole through the floor joist above my ceiling and out the exterior wall just above another unit owners second floor deck. I could literally see outside as they tried to quickly cover it up with black putty on the floor joist so I wouldn't notice. Also, another unnecessary hole was drilled in another room ceiling because they used their fist to try to find the the stud and drilled just below the stud which didn't allow for a detector to be installed. If they used a stud finder then that would have been avoided.
Also, and more importantly they were not following state fire codes. The fire resistant cable was cut too short because they didn't measure the correct length needed. When they added new cable to the existing cable they used wire nuts and then placed the wire in a regular electrical box and tucked it into the ceiling thinking nobody would know. I informed the fire department and they made them return and use a terminal block which is required by law. Also, they had to return another day because the fire department informed them that one carbon monoxide detector was required in each condo unit. They initially only installed smoke detectors if you can believe it, and had to remove the new smoke detector in front of the fire department and replace with a smoke/carbon monoxide detector. If it was up to them nobody would have had a carbon monoxide detector.
Now I am left with having to use a stain blocker which emits a strong odor to cover up sheetrock yellow stains because they used sheetrock ceiling hole plugs from an area that evidently was cigarette smoke damaged. If they had kept my original plugs then there would be no yellow stains after plaster repair. Also, I now have to sand and paint my wall they cut because the plasterer hired didn't sand it after pathching it.
Use my experience as a learning tool and don't hire this company. read more
