It's our first time visiting fire&ice and everything was on point. It's a club style hooka bar thats been around for 10 years now. The place got nice style inside and heated and covered patio at the front. Food is responsibly priced and tasted great. The staff was attentive to us. They went as far as to make me my favorite drink which wasn't on the menu and made it exactly how I wanted. When you show up on the weekend and the bar is in full party mode, you can't expect perfect service when it's 1 bar tender or waitress to 10 people. The hooka was good too, they got flavors which cost a bit more but we ordered one and it was great. read more

This sheesha bar was recommended by the Days Inn receptionist as being one of the popular local joints in downtown Calgary with hop hop beats vs lounge eighteen that is a more upscale sheesha bar. I caved for hip hop and headed to Fire N Ice bar alone around 7 pm on a Thursday night to check out the hype. DECOR: There are two floors to this place: the main floor with a busier crowd and a live DJ set; the basement with a cozier vibe that wasn't as crowded. I was impressed by the decor of the venue: leather banquettes with neon table tops that the waitresses can write on for orders (fun concept!). At the time there were only a few people smoking sheesha. The lights around the bar reminded me of mosquito zapping lamps which turned into epileptic flashing club lights later into the night (cheap vibes when I actually opted to leaving the venue because it got grimey). The music got louder and the crowd drunker by the hour. Butt cracks vs twerking competitions galore. The crowd is not classy but prime club crowd even for a Thursday night. Can't forget to mention the bathrooms were poorly maintained- no mirrors, missing toilet paper and broken door knows. Also the WiFi did not work. MUSIC: I really enjoyed the late night SJ- old school mixes was awesome and in fire! FOOD & DRINKS: The food quality was mediocre- I had the fish tacos (** of five stars) for 14$ you got three very large tacos with a soggy wet giant fish filet topped with mayonnaised slaw ( not really a taco but a KFC sandwich?? Or worse) it was very must to eat. The drinks were basic: I opted for a shock top for 6$ a bottle. There were also drink specials like 4 pornstar shots for 20$. SHEESHA:At 15$ flat fee for sheesha all night and 10$ for refills- they had starbuzz and Alfakr brands. Coming from Montreal - I consider myself a Phd in hookah! The quality of the sheesha was impeccable-bang on to what I had in Egypt! Thanks to Ahmed who is a local expert at Sheesha mixing from Aswan! (ask him to surprise you -the mint peach mango combo was mind blowing) all the tubing kept in coming off. I liked that I asked for my tongs and they had the option on long burning charcoal vs fast burning ones. SERVICE & MANAGEMENT: I really commend by waitress and Ahmed for constantly checking up on me. I dropped an easy 140$ on this place because of the service. As for management - there are a lot of areas of improvement : food quality, renovations- including functional bathrooms! Came here for an afternoon shisha session with a group of friends. The shisha was trash- the Blue Mist flavor was gross and it was barely pulling because they gave me used coals. They replaced the coal and it still wasn't pulling so they gave me a whole new pipe. The shisha at Moondust is SO MUCH BETTER. We came during happy hour ordered the coconut shrimp which was good but only came with 6. We also ordered nachos which were dry and gross. I am disappointed that I came here. read more

Just found this place last night & I have to say I was super impressed! If you like loud music, lounge couches, sheesha and AMAZING atmosphere, you have to try this spot! I didn't eat anything but they have really cool flavored tobaccos to mix & even serve liquor! The crowd that attracts to this place makes me a little on edge though. The server was excellent till the end where she realized we weren't there to spend a lot I money & were just there to simply check out the place so she started ignoring us & have al the attention the high ballers beside us. It even got to the point that we were looking at our empties till we left & had to ask another server to get the bill for us! All in all, I actually had a decent time but it would have been ruined if the music wasn't so good and the lights weren't so cool! Went to this new little gem with a gf a few months back and really enjoyed it! The staff was really nice, the atmosphere was unique and pretty! We enjoyed a shesha, food, and a bottle of Prosecco .. And when I say a bottle .. I mean 2 . SO good. Love that stuff haha. Service: Service was good in the sense of friendliness and speed of service. One con that irked me, maybe it's just me, but the waitress gave us wine glasses for our Prosecco.. That was honestly the first time that has ever happened to me and I thought it was a little rookie. Otherwise, no complaints, our waitress now knows and I don't think that's a mistake she'll make again. Taste: We ordered a couple Chicken Tikka skewers which were so incredibly on point from the flavour to the chicken texture to the portion size. Was awesome. Chicken was so succulent and juicy and flavourful , cooked to perfection I must say. Also, their menu runs really late, like 1-2 am I believe , I really like that. Being able to get quality food late at night is always great for me. Presentation: From the presentation of the restaurant, to the presentation on the plate, I really enjoyed it. All very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. *However, side note, Im with a gf of mine right now as Im writing this and she said she was there, Canada Day 2015, and said the bathrooms were rather destroyed .. She says she's not sure if they were doing renos or if it was dirty from being such a busy day. I didn't actually use the washrooms when I went there (which is surprising after 2 bottles of Prosecco lol) so I can't personally comment in that regard.. But I will say that what ever the case, I hope the renos are done (if that was the case) OR F&I , just try to be more mindful of bathroom cleanliness during peak times. No one will Ever appreciate a dirty washroom . lol #truth* Atmosphere: Loud bumpin' music. Whoever was hired to be the interior designer for this place should get a big hug haha. It's really pretty inside, has a fancy / fab feel. Definitely a place you would want to take pictures in because it's unique (for Calgary), and definitely selfie background approved. I felt comfortable and relaxed on one of the many cool comfy couches they have. It's a little small and when busy can feel very crowded, especially when looking for a seat. I feel like there should be a little more structure to the seating arrangements , especially when really busy - ie. Hostess assisting you with finding a seat. Overall Experience: My experience overall was quite good, I will definitely go back and I will recommend this place to friends traveling to Calgary. I had a lot of fun! I love music and lively places. There's definitely not another sheesha place like this in Calgary , so if you're looking for a different kind of sheesha experience then I highly recommend this place :). I'm picky and have minor suggestions here, but that honestly doesn't really take away from the overall experience I had there. Give me a good sheesha and a mint tea to go with it, and you can blare all the music you want in my face, I don't care. I am okay with the high-school aged kids sitting around me, and with not being able to hear my friends over the music, because I know that's what I am going to get at Fire n Ice. If I want to have a quiet conversation with someone sitting beside me, I would go somewhere else. Came in for a visit from out of town for a weekend. We had such an amazing time that we kept coming back. The one time we decided to try something different for my friend's 30th and went to common wealth and had a traumatizing experience due to sexual harassment not taken seriously by bouncers. Came back to our favorite spot and they turned our night around. Bouncers were always friendly and my friend got treated for a birthday shot. They were the highlight for our weekend and so thankful they made our memories a positive one. We loved the different music on each floor, their food portions are HUGE. Yes you might have to wait in line or wait for your hooka on busy days but they always do their best. Much love to all the staff there read more

This place is fantastic!! Spent the night here last Saturday and will be going back soon for sure. Very modern clean look inside, great ambiance with the lighting always switch from orange to blue switching the room from fire to ice. If I could give this bar no stars I would. I waited in line for two hours because it was my friends bday. Just to be told at the front that I wasn't aloud downstairs where my friends were.The bouncers were extremely rude and the one bouncer even when as far as to grab me by the arm and push me outside. If you're wanting to go to a dope hookah bar, I would recommend Lounge 18. The atmosphere is a lot more mature and the music is great as well! read more

I have an interesting perspective on Fire N Ice because I worked there! I have to say this is the best job I have ever had simply because of the fun atmosphere, great crowd of customers that frequent the venue, and an amazing team of coworkers and management. It feels like a family in there, not only between the staff but between the customers and staff as well. I had regulars that turned into close friends. It is the kind of place where even on your days off you want to come down and party :) I 100% recommend for sheesha and drinks, or just to have a fun night out. One of the worst experiences of my life. Staff is racist, sexist and agist. I came into this place with my two friends really hoping to have a good time. The bouncers were disrespectful, degrading, insulting and racist. My cousin has a legal document (her ONLY piece of ID). They refused to let us in because she didn't have a second piece of ID. This would have been totally understandable if the supposed "owner" of this place had not been completely rude about it. My sister was also not allowed in for not having a second piece of ID despite having her Alberta license on her. This was all because we look "younger". Well I'm sorry, but we don't have control over our genetics. When they finally let us in, on our way up I insulted the owner for being so rude. He grabbed me by my shoulder and kicked us out. We were surrounded by other bouncers to ensure we would not go in. He said that if I was going to insult him, we were not allowed in, even though he had been insulting us the whole time we were waiting outside. I am a 4'11" tall woman and the amount of bouncers surrounding me was not necessary and borderline harassment. I felt completely violated and unsafe. In addition, a person of colour coming in after us was also not allowed in because he was supposedly "high". This man did not look high at all, and even calmly explained to the bouncers that he was not intoxicated. If you ask me, it was just the staff being racist and not wanting a black person inside. I do not recommend this place at all. Especially if you are a woman or a person of colour and do not have personal connections with those who work here, please do not come here. The staff is discriminatory and problematic. I will never come back here and I will make sure everyone I know, knows of this incident. I've been here twice and don't really have the urge to go back. The first time was great! But that was only because we got bottle service apparently. Our second time we went, we didn't get bottle service and we didn't order drinks with our sheesha right away since we couldn't decide on what we wanted/how crazy we wanted to get - and our service was AWFUL. When we said we wanted waters the server just rolled her eyes at us. After we got our sheesha and waters we literally didn't see our server again (someone else even took our payment at the bar). We had to go up to the bar to keep ordering drinks and shots. It would have been a different story if it was super busy in there, but there were only 3 other tables on the whole top floor. I left early and will definitely be trying out some other hookah lounges! read more

I'm giving this place two stars because my group arrived quite early (around 7pm) and waited to be acknowledged by someone. Including my group of 5, there were about 7 to 10 other customers - not very busy at all. I counted approximately 6 to 8 servers behind the bar visiting with each other and looking at their phones. After 20 minutes of being ignored, we were finally helped, but only after I went up to the bar requesting some service. Most of the night, the service was pretty slow. I always had to flag the servers down in order to get served. Ridiculous. Even though their service was terrible, the food and sheesha was pretty good. The ambiance was pretty cool. The bathrooms need a serious makeover. I did post this review in their Facebook page, but they cannot take constructive criticism to improve their business and reported my post to Facebook, ultimately having my review removed. I don't usually give bad reviews. Usually, I just never go back, but I really wanted to like this place. If they just make some customer service improvements and fix up the bathrooms, this place would be great. read more

The atmosphere was cool, lots of lights, nice layout, good DJ. But oh my fuck was the service ever shit. Went with my boyfriend to smoke up after a night out, sure it's loud, that's fine, but we were there for 15 minutes and no one came up to our table (a super messy table at that). We were new to fire and ice so we thought maybe we had to go to the bar or something, but when we went to the bar they said that a server will come to our table...okay. Another ten minutes pass. She comes over we finally order and then it takes her another 15 minutes to bring us water, after another 15 of waiting to smoke up after that we just left. read more

The primary purpose of a Hookah bar is to sit and unwind with friends; to trade stories, experiences, laughs, and to talk about the issues of the day when inclined. Fire N Ice tries to add 'trendy' decor and music to this tradition, and fails brilliantly, defeating the purpose of a Hookah bar. The seating (especially the couches along the outer walls) is uncomfortable and one can barely hear people friends speak over the booming music (it would even be loud for a dance club). And, the 'trendy' seemed to attract a crowd about as intelligent as the design of the place. If an evening trying to find a comfortable place to sit whilst yelling at your friends sitting a foot away from you (who would probably just be texting anyway) is what your after, then I could recommend this place. On a positive note, the wallpaper is neat; like something you'd find in an old, victorian-era house. read more

Bad service, & bad sheesha. My friends & I stayed for about 40minutes, we left cause we weren't statisfied with the sheesha, when we went up to the till. The waitress basically try to take our change & when we asked for our change, she replied with " your not going to give a tip?? " I replied with "no I just want my change" my friend replied with "the sheesha was bad" she was in process of giving back our change & had the audicity to ask us " did I do something wrong" you did do something wrong by asking if we're going to tip and try to take all our change. Its a great place if you want to go drinking and to hang out with women. (Club scene environment) I am a shisha person, but I don't really like the shisha at this place, they have a rule where the server has to change your coal during busy nights. Service was bad and it took a long time to get our Sheesha/drinks/food. The chick that was serving us had another group whom left because of how slow she was. The glasses were dirty and the washroom was filthy. We were there for more than a 2 hrs and a guy sat beside my sister (rude) and basically kicked off of our seats by the rest of his group. The manager did not do anything about it. Overall bad experience. Not going back. Only good thing was the music. read more
