Then in January he sent a VERY young man (apprentice) who did no prep, painted over vines and leaves, and dripped brown paint all over newly redone white stucco. I worked with Olle and Martin to spec the job and schedule the work necessary to paint the considerable amount of outside trim on my Italianate painted-lady house. Both were professional and knowledgeable and they gave me reasonable cost and time estimates. Although I expected a team to show up, instead they sent a single painter with one of their latest and greatest cherry-pickers. Expertly utilizing this marvelous innovation, Maciek did the job of 3 men. He worked carefully, diligently, and expertly -- and he cleaned up after himself every afternoon so that I could hardly tell that he had been here. I hired these guys to paint my entire condo prior to listing it for sale. Even after 7 years of being lived in, the walls looked like brand new. I was originally told that the job would take 3.5 days and they ended up finishing in 2 days to meet my deadline to get the unit listed for sale. Do not use Finnpro. To be polite, they are unprofessional. They estimated a project for me at $1600 and I expected the job would take about 18 hours over several days based on their published hourly rate of $85. The estimate stated that the job would require special preparation and several coats of primer and paint. The actual time taken by their handyman/painter employee was 7 hours including the time taken to run to the store for supplies (he was gone for one hour on one trip and a half hour on the second trip). Speaking to the owner, I pointed out the difference between the estimate and the time spent to perform the actual work. I was told that I had to pay the estimate. That would work out to something in the range of $230/hr. I offered to pay a fair price for the work - about $600 plus the cost of materials. The response was that I needed to pay the full estimate regardless of the time taken and that he intended to turn this over to his lawyers. This was the second project we did with Finnpro. On the first project they sent an employee who took excessive cigarette breaks. On that occasion, when we questioned the accuracy of the hours spent, the owner adjusted the price. One final comment, they are very weak on their communication and scheduling skills. They rarely answer their phones and they hardly ever call back. Stay away from these guys - they are, to be less polite but more accurate, crooks. read more

The work was acceptable in some ways. But they didn't caulk before they painted - either that, or they used a very poor caulk because there are cracks everywhere, and I am going to have to caulk myself to prevent water damage. read more

I requested service in summer when the temperatures and dryness were needed for a repair on some wood rot. Now it almost November and they never called or came to do the repair. Now its getting too cold and wet to do the work. If they didn't want the work they should never have agreed to the job. Now its getting too late to even do it myself. Should have tackled the job myself. Also a much bigger job planned ahead will not go to them. read more

So after two years of asking them to come back to fix a part (carpentry included) they missed in the initial job and peeling paint, they sent me an invoice of $257.50. My problem was that I had been too nice to them. I accepted their excuses of foreman leaving/starting a new business, son injury, sickness, and being very nice about it. Two years!!!! It took me 2 years to get them back to fix the part they missed in the initial job. Then an invoice! When they finally showed up to fix the two areas, we specifically told them it was included in the initial job and they should not charge us for it and they (or the foreman) agreed. Now an invoice. I have never written anything bad about any business before. But Finnpro really pissed me off big time. I will NEVER recommend it to anyone. read more

At the advice of my real estate agent, I hired Finnpro to paint my entire condo. The company did a topnotch job on repainting the kitchen and bathroom cabinets. However, in several other areas, our communication was inadequate. The primary painter used a different shade from what I requested. As conversation progressed with the owner Olli, I was concerned about the increase in cost over his estimate. He said not to worry about it. But then the final bill came in at $1,500 over the proposal. Bottom line, I think the painters do skillful work, but anyone using the company should make sure everything is spelled out precisely on the contract, and be sure to get any changes in writing. read more
