The amount of details and logistics they had to provide seemed so effortless. Sandra basically asks you what you want for your wedding and makes it 10x better than you could have expected. For example, I didn't even think about how the table setting would be or even look like, she just gathered a dinner menu, our favors, and a name place card from me and she added in a little sprig and had the napkins folded a certain way, she even ordered gold utensils! They truly add in their own little finishing touches and it truly makes all the difference. One thing that impressed me the most was the behind the scenes action. So we had an open bar and bought all our beverages from Costco and my husband and I thought we knew our guests drink preferences well, but clearly not! Of course they all went for the hard liquor, which we were almost out of before the reception even begun! But here comes Sandra behind the scenes sending one of her team members to make an alcohol run for us so that we wouldn't run out. I was so impressed. Throughout our entire wedding process, my husband and I kept saying Sandra was the best decision we made. We found Sandra by researching online but realized that she had done two different weddings of people that we know in Asia. Our Hawaii wedding was a destination wedding for us and we started planning one year out, so we interacted with Sandra over a twelve month period over many emails and Zoom calls. Sandra and Kandis were absolutely fantastic from start to finish. I really don't know what we would've done without Finishing Touch. A couple of things that really stood out: They got my vision completely and tried to work within our budget. I liked that Sandra wasn't pushy with anything. I never felt like she was trying to make me spend more than I wanted. She was extremely responsive (I had heard horror stories of planners in Italy for example not responding to emails for an entire month). She was very thorough in answering all of our questions and always provided alternative options/solutions. She is also very detail oriented so I never had to worry that anything would fall through the cracks. They are process-oriented, which I appreciated. Given our planning process was a year-long, I liked how there was a rough timeline, i.e. there were certain decisions that could be made early on but there were also certain things that had to wait closer to the date. Sandra made sure we hit all those milestones and got all the prep work done in a timely manner. I really appreciated the questionnaires she made us fill out as it really helped nail down a lot of the details, especially things that I hadn't thought about. Their execution on the day of was flawless. I've been to weddings where I've seen the bride stressed out on the day of her wedding. I was determined not to be like that and Sandra and her team made that possible. I didn't have to worry about a single thing and the entire schedule ran smoothly. Other than choosing each other, Sandra and Finishing touch were the best decisions we made for our wedding day. I am originally from Oahu but living in Los Angeles, so choosing a coordinator was really important to us! Our original wedding date was set for the April just before Covid shut everything down. We had to make a difficult decision to postpone our wedding and Sandra was there to dry our tears and ensure us that everything was gonna be okay. She was patient and understanding and didn't pressure us to make any decisions. This went on about three more times which included three different postponed wedding dates, three rounds of re-contracting with vendors, and every bit of frustration on our part. During this whole process, Sandra was nothing but professional, calm, encouraging, patient and everything that we could've asked for an a planner. The week of the wedding, I had a huge family emergency and my world fell apart. I couldnt deal with anything wedding related because of trips back and forth to the hospital, but my best friends were my liaisons. Sandra was willing to talk to them and laid out all of the other options so I could still make the day special. After a lot of contemplating, we ended up going through it as originally planned, but Sandra went above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable and it was still everything we wanted. As expected Sandra (and her assistant Lei), were amazing on our wedding day as well. Sandra's timeline was so detailed and meticulous in the best way possible. It was down to the 5-10 minute mark and everything happened without a hitch. The best part was that I got to relax and enjoy my wedding day from start to finish. As a Honolulu native, it was daunting to even think about planning a local wedding at home with my life currently up and running in the Midwest. We decided very early on that we needed and were going to invest in a wedding planner, and through a series of interviews and fortunate events, ended up being in contact with Sandra and her team with Finishing Touch. In retrospect of the year of planning a now the wedding being over a few weeks ago, I know I personally have the capacity to have done it on my own, but the ease of working with a wedding planner was seriously a stress free treat. I was lucky enough to watch Sandra work when I was a bridesmaid for my cousin's wedding. I knew from the get go that she was someone of another caliber; she is someone who gets the job done and the problems dealt with, all without interfering with the bridal party. One thing that stuck out most to me was when the father of the groom requested seat and table changes to accommodate guests. This was a very formal wedding, so even the tiniest mishandling could make a world of problems. Also, how do you rearrange seating while people are already in their seats? I got stressed out as a third party person! Needless to say, she snapped her fingers, and everyone was none the wiser. Fast forward to my wedding, I knew I wanted her, but I didn't know if my laidback super casual wedding could warrant her expertise; it felt beneath her almost! I reached out to her a month prior to the big day, thinking I needed only a day of coordinator. After reviewing what I had planned so far (I had secured only the venue, videographer, photographer, and caterer), she let me down gently, stating that I need something more of a wedding planner. I couldn't imagine how much work it would be to decorate a place to my standards, thinking I'd be ok with anything, so it took me a minute to consider taking her on. It was seriously the best decision my hubs and I ever made. The thirty days leading up to our day consisted of her emailing me invoices and me responding with credit card info and signatures. I did this all at work, so it was no sweat off my back. I gave her full rein and she did a great job helping me stay within my budget. Day of, I had three venues for the day from 1pm-1am, and Sandra was there for much longer than I expected and she kept me right on schedule. At one point, there was a dress fiasco, and the zipper on my skirt busted open. One of her team members ran off and came back with a sewing kit. Sandra and her team are always prepared and they have everything under control to a T. This is definitely confirmed in the other reviews. Overall, I cannot relate to the bad reviews here. If I had to say something bad, it would be that I wish she could've just forged my signatures and filled in all my credit card info for me. I honestly could've given her a checkbook that was presigned and dated, but I am thirsty for miles and points. That is how much (or little) I would have wanted to be involved in the planning process. Obviously, that is unrealistic and likely illegal, so all you brides and grooms out there find a solution for this if you're at all anything like me. I cannot recommend Finishing Touch enough. She definitely seemed pricey at the start, but the amount of money and time she will save you with her expertise and knowledge of the industry surpasses her fees. Every invoice she gave me was half or lower than the amount I expected for all these vendors. Also, she will ask all the questions you are too afraid to ask before you think to ask them. To end, most brides book their wedding planners a year out. I hired her a month out. Logically, I would have had to pay her more than the person who booked her a year out because she had to work 12x as fast and as hard. Don't be dumb like me and think you can do everything yourself. I was originally planning on just doing a day of coordinator, which was required by our venue. Where do I even start! My wedding happened because Sandra and Finishing Touch staff stepped up to the plate and MADE it happen. We live in California, and our wedding was canceled twice (a common Covid theme), we were at our wits end. We have family in Hawaii and at the beginning of March decided to try one more time for a May wedding. We were worried we wouldn't be able to find anyone willing to help us plan an event so quickly - but Sandra loves a challenge ! In 2.5 months Sandra and her staff planned THREE EVENTS for us!! Our Luau welcome dinner, rehearsal dinner, wedding day AND helped us book the home we were going to be staying and getting married in. I'm not sure if I can find the words to accurately describe the gratitude, appreciation, and admiration I have for Sandra and her team at Finishing Touch, but I'm going to try my best! The BEST decision my husband and I made throughout our wedding planning process was definitely hiring Sandra. I initially inquired with a few other wedding planning/coordinators, but after finding Sandra and speaking with her over the phone, my gut just told me that she's the one! She was very professional, transparent, genuine, and so easy to talk to. She had a kind calmness about her that made me trust and have confidence in her immediately. Sandra communicated with us via organized and scheduled phone calls, as well as through email. She was always prompt in replying, and made sure everything was clear- the timeline, the agenda of each phone call, our homework aka things we need to work on, and the next steps. She never made me feel forgotten or worried that she wasn't keeping track of what we needed to get done. Family and friends kept telling me how stressed out I must be planning a wedding, but I rarely experienced any stress through this entire year of working with her. She made things so seamless for us, which is AMAZING because we planned a wedding with her for a year from a distance (we live in California), and only met in person when we arrived on Oahu a week before our wedding. When we finally met in person to go over our wedding timeline and final things to complete, we felt like we knew her for years! She made us feel so comfortable and excited for our big day. We learned of the possibly of Hurricane Lane (initially a category 5 hurricane) hitting Oahu the weekend of our wedding. We were devastated but hopeful that things would still work out. I truly appreciate how Sandra went above and beyond to assure us that we'd have a Plan B, C, and even D in case our wedding needed to be relocated, postponed, or cancelled if the weather was as bad as expected. Thankfully, the hurricane was downgraded to a tropical storm, which passed Oahu by Friday/Saturday (our wedding was on Sunday). However, our venue had debris from the strong rain and winds, and Sandra kindly made trips to pick up/drop off a leaf blower, arrange for people to kindly help clean up, and so much more. We were hopeful, calm and collected through it all because Sandra made sure to consistently check up on us, comfort us, update us, and make sure we did everything we could to continue the wedding as planned (with the safety of all of us and our loved ones as priority of course). The morning of our wedding, we got the call at 8 am from Sandra that the venue owner would allow us to have the wedding as planned! (If not, we had a Plan B set at a nearby different venue but we were so thrilled that we could still get married at our dream venue) From that moment on, we were just so grateful for this miracle that we didn't have any stress for the rest of the day. If anything wasn't going as planned at the ceremony or reception, we didn't know about it, and I appreciate that!! Haha. It was truly the best day ever, and it makes us so happy to hear from family and friends that they had such a great time and loved the food (which Sandra recommended)!She designed the beautiful layout and took all of our inspiration photos/Pinterest albums to help us create our personalized dream wedding. She recommended a lot of the vendors, and we loved every single one of them. I really appreciated her input and recommendations- she has great taste and has a great eye, but is also very logical/reasonable. When I look at the photos, I can't believe it was our wedding! We were so impressed by how diligent Sandra was to make sure things ran smoothly, and our family and friends noticed too. I come from the client service side of work as well and to see the level of experience, professionalism and engagement from her was refreshing. The best decision I made early on in my wedding planning process was hiring Sandra Williams from Finishing Touches! Not only was I impressed with her professionalism during our initial consultation, but I also felt like she was so friendly and easy to talk to. A lot of other wedding planners I spoke with were quite intimidating and I didn't really feel comfortable asking them questions. And let's be honest, for most people, planning a wedding is a new concept so you're bound to have a ton of questions. You need a planner that you're comfortable asking questions and advice with. Even as a local, I knew I would need a lot of help planning my wedding since I booked Lanikuhonua as our venue, so I went with Sandra's full wedding planning package. After signing with her, she immediately got the ball rolling with a few vendors I already booked ahead of time. My husband and I told her food was our #1 priority and she definitely gave us a great catering company to go with. All our guests comment to this day that we had the best wedding food they ever had! She gave me a few suggestions on vendors for every category needed at our wedding, and even offered more when I wanted to see what our other options were. I went with 99% of her suggestions and don't regret a single one! She has a close relationship with a lot of excellent vendors on the island, and it really shows when a lot of our vendors would comment on how lucky we are to have Sandra as our planner. She's not afraid to be honest with you about what she thinks about your ideas or selections. If she disagrees with your vision, she does it in the nicest way possible, but won't push you if you're firm on your decision. She was the main contact person for most of my vendors and relayed a lot of the information to me so I didn't have to worry about the logistics of a lot of things. She accompanied me to most of my meetings with my vendors but let me do most of the talking and gave input when she saw that I was indecisive or clueless. I loved how she provided me with a template of the layout of our wedding day so I knew what to expect on the big day. We had a hiccup with one of our vendors a week before the wedding, but Sandra was able to help me contact another vendor last minute (I mean, literally the day before!), and no one was the wiser on the day of! My parents and family members were very impressed by her professionalism and her ability to work closely with them to help make our wedding day a perfect one. So many of our guests, family members, and even vendors informed us that rarely do weddings go as smoothly as ours did that day (literally no drama, no problems, everything went exactly as planned). We had so many guests telling us that it was the best wedding they've ever attended! My husband couldn't stop raving about how beautiful everything was on the day of the wedding, but I had to be honest and admit it was most of Sandra's work and vision that made it so wonderful hehe. After our wedding, Sandra stayed to coordinate the clean up, and helped us package all our decorations, cards, leftover drinks, etc. She even followed up with us after our wedding to give us a run down of what happened behind the scenes and a quick summary of our day. The only comment I can make is that she didn't really keep a close eye on our budget. Granted, I did tell her I wanted to stay in the ballpark of our budget and didn't mind being over budget, but I did have to do the calculations on my own to figure out just how much I was over my budget. First off, I would like to say THANK YOU to Finishing Touch for putting together the wedding of my dreams!!! Sandra was so wonderful to work with! In our initial appointment, we "talked story" and she showed me some wedding photos. Amazingly, from then on, she was able to pinpoint my personal style along with my needs and wants for my wedding. She really got me on the first try! That is when I knew I was in good hands. Sandra took off with my vision and every idea she presented to me thereafter, I was "ooohing" and "aaaahing" over. As time progressed, I learned how impeccable FT were with timeliness in communication, follow-ups, and the ability to coordinate most things via email. Even more impeccable is their taste in design. I am not a creative person especially when trying to put numerous things together to create a cohesive look. As a result, I was able to TRUST them on the design aspect. I did have a few inputs here and there and I appreciate that they were totally receptive to them. In the end, they were able to put together a whimsical look that was just so magical! In fact, the elements during my wedding were so vivid that when I close my eyes, I can still visualize the effects. Luckily there wasn't any time that I was dissatisfied or unhappy with FT. The only minor issue I recall was on the day of my wedding when, as I was waiting to walk down the isle, I spotted an uninvited guest. I texted Sandra the information and they were able to resolve the seating arrangement to accommodate this person. I never heard about it after that text. In terms of logistics, Tristin, handled it without a hitch! I appreciated the detailed timeline she compiled for the vendors and bridal party. As a result, everyone had a script to go by. It was especially nice that I wasn't bothered with ANY phone calls on my wedding day! Zero phone calls! Now that is pretty amazing! My bridal party was also amazed as to how laid back the entire wedding day was. During the entire process, I learned that hiring a wedding planner who has established "friendship" relationships with vendors almost always means good discounts from those vendors. I really got a feel of FT's closeness to the vendors via the email traffic. I also realized I got exceptions because I was a client of FT. For example, my friend wanted to hire a radio personality to MC her wedding but was not able to unless she bought a wedding consultant package from his partner. I don't know what kind of leverage FT had with this situation but they made it happen for me! More so, I know personally that the vendors FT hired for my wedding were top notch vendors! I read about them in our local newspapers, magazines and even see most of them on TV once in a while. Ultimately, I am not able to provide one negative feedback about the work that FT did for my wedding. They are awesome! I could not have hired a better wedding consultant team and believe me, I interviewed a few. A few may come close on the logistic side of wedding planning, but FT takes it to a whole other level with their keen taste in style and detail!
