My wife and I are left jealous of the other reviews about this company. Their commercials will advertise as they are one company: this is simply false. The waterproofing and finishing sides are completely separate from one another and do not communicate. We found this out the hard way after booking them for our projects. We received the opposite treatment, temperament, and professionalism from the same people referenced on other reviews (Dan the Project Coordinator mainly). The lack of communication between ourselves and the company/workers as well as between the waterproofing and finishing sides was lacklaster and, most times, non-existent. While Basements plus will acknowledge and apologize for the "experiences" we had, the "experience" will never be something they take financial ownership for... and we have proof of that. Most of our issues lie with the process involved, the lack of accountability from the people involved, and the company's lack of accountability for the burdens my wife and I ended up with to keep things moving. Our bi-level house flooded multiple times in our downstairs. Prior to Basements Plus waterproofing, a plumber put in an emergency storm drain that fed into our sum pump. This was relayed to Basements Plus and was clearly attached to the sum pump that was being replaced. After waterproofing was "completed", the emergency storm drain was never tied back into the new sum pump and our downstairs flooded again. They had to come back out and fix their error with the sum pump. No all, but our main issues (we have so much more, please ask us): -You will get an App that is meant to provide you a daily schedule so you know what work is being supposed to be done when and who will be at the house. This schedule will NOT be updated automatically and will be useless quickly. The ONLY way we got this updated was repeatedly asking. -Due to the bi-level home, we asked for a door to be put at the bottom of the stairs. It took SIX WEEKS for the project coordinator to put one in. HIS original suggestion was for a zipper door. When asked the next week about a zipper door, Dan was confused on what that was. We ended up with a magnet door that was installed in the wrong place, had to be moved by me, and did not function as well as hoped. -When going through the process of picking out cabinets, countertops, and accessories in the showroom, we were not presented prices for the options. -We had multiple occasions where the waterproofing and finishing would overlap. Neither side knew what the other was doing and would interfere with themselves. In one instance, we were called that materials would be dropped off the next day; the truck backed into our driveway with materials 1 minute later. -We had power knocked out to multiple rooms upstairs one day. Workers took 0 accountability until forced to. -Beware! This company does NOT prime and paint before laying flooring down. This was confirmed by multiple workers. Due to this, our flooring had white trim paint soak through the tape that was on it for 2 months. Almost every 4 inches of the floor against a wall is dulled in color now. -This company also does not grout tile in the bathroom. That is on you if you want it. -We asked for a new project Coordinator and, instead, just got a middle-man between us and the Coordinator. -Company threw away brackets for blinds, ceiling fans, and barn doors and all had to be replaced. -When Project Coordinator went out of town, we had no work done at our house. Company confirmed this is not how it is supposed to be, but that's exactly how it worked for us. At the end, we told Basements Plus we were done and we would take care of the rest ourselves. We coordinated FAR too much of this ourselves and were exhausted with the lack of communication and accountability. We asked for compensation back for all of the errors and work that became ours. Their "good faith" offer was 2% of our total paid (which didn't include plumbing costs) and would have to sign an NDA. We would never accept that offer and have so much more to say! read more

Andrea is the estimator. She listens to our needs. AJ came with two other members to install water proofing system. We also got additional insulation and a new sum pump and a dehumidifier. The manager Kyle came later to check on their work. He pointed some points to improve and the crew came to complete it next day. Very happy with their service. We have a 1924 basement in Royal Oak that had a complete renovation. Old houses have many issues once you start taking it apart. This company seems to use many names. Basement plus, Finish Basement plus and Dry Basement Plus. I called them specifically to repair a few Rot Holes that were starting to fail. I was very specific with what I needed when scheduling the appointment and sales person Deanne when she started her big sales pitch. It didn't phase her in the least bit disrespecting my time with a high pressure sales pitch sitting at my table for hours until her next appointment. Severally hours later my request was deliberately ignored and there was a quote for an elaborate drain system costing over $20000 and demolishing the walls in my basement. This didn't include a remodel, this was just waterproofing before remodel. The quote kept increasing with many what ifs and hidden items that would add to the quote. She even told me my sub pump was not up to code when I had an inspector check it a couple of years prior when my neighbors brought theirs up to code. I got 3 other quotes from honest companies that did not recommend the elaborate sales pitch. The issue was fixed for well less than $1000 and is fully guaranteed for a lifetime the very next day. We have had rain and snow melt with no issues and I have $25000 still in my savings. Basement Plus followed up to see what I thought about the quote. I was honest. I don't want to judge an entire company on one employee but....my appointment was set for noon. Received a call from Chad asking if he could come after his 10am since he would be in the area. I agreed. However he texted again shortly after and said he was about 5 mins away. I still agreed. Once he arrived, I understand why his appts were so speedy. He has zero capabilities of dealing with potential clients. He told me that a basement remodel of my sf could cost at least $65k. I told him that was high and he asked how much did I want to spend? He said to let him know so he could decide if he wanted to "stay and continue with an estimate". GOOD GRACIOUS. I reminded him that he was here to give me an estimate based on design I described. He then told me that "you need to tell me how much you want to spend. If you want to spend $100k, then I can tell you what you'd get for $100k". SMH!!! I already told him what I wanted..just looking for estimate based on that. Not the other way around. I escorted him out. This company does not want your business, so don't waste your breath or your time. I live just a mile from the city line, which they state they cover, and they have no interest in my basement refinishing project - new ceiling, floor, walls, etc. That one mile is just too far for them. They won't even schedule an estimate. So spend your time finding a company who WANTS the work. These people apparently have too much. read more

The slogan 'Do it once, do it right' really resonated with us when we were choosing a company to use for our basement project. Finished Basements Plus truly lived up to this value. We were impressed from the very beginning with the abundance of knowledge provided by our salesmen Joseph. He helped guide us with insight on how to truly maximize the space we had while still obtaining all of wishes we had thought of for our basement. Once we started working with the team at Finished Basements Plus, we were blown away at the professional, promptness and overall hard work. Tony was fantastic at helping with all our design needs and even went above and beyond when it came to a hiccup with an outside vendor completely unrelated to Finished Basements. Ed, our project manager, was great to work with. He kept us up to date on every moving piece and was always there to answer any questions we may have had about our project. We were looking for an estimate to have our basement finished and we called Finished Basements Plus. David came out to help us and he could not have been more pleasant and personable.
