With regard to his contract milestones, that could have been improved - the effort was estimated to finish at the end of August, and it took an extra month. These were my observations: 1) Incredibly Professional When Presenting Stair Rail Options/Possibilities The process to work with Tom on the design helped given that I had multiple examples, plus he was able to do the stair railing as well as the stairs themselves. He was flexible along the way with 101 questions and was always pleasant to be around. 2) Collected the Material and Progress Payment Within a Week and a Half This one surprised me the most. Within a week and a half, the materials fee and progress payment were collected. Over 50% had been paid, and by the next week he fell ill and was out for ~3 weeks. Given that I had never worked with him in the past, did this mean he disappeared? 3) Attempted to Work With Him Again But No Luck After finishing up the project for the stairs, I had a laundry list of items to tackle in the home. One of which being hanging a large chandelier in my living room. Based on our conversation, it was "simple weekend work". So I scheduled him, he pushed the day out to Saturday which I say yes to, and then he cancels the morning of due to "bad sushi". He also stated that he was just going to come out and quote the effort (even though he had already verbally quoted me) instead of getting started. All very confusing. Reached out for a quote on a bathroom remodel and unfortunately didn't hear back.

I recently hired Brian to convert my backyard slope into a terrace. He also took responsibility for a few issues that came up during construction -- he replaced a damaged pathway light, repaired a cracked concrete curb, and resodded areas of grass affected by the Bobcat. I genuinely appreciate those efforts. However, I was disappointed that my landscape lighting system was left completely inoperable. The crew cut the landscape wiring in multiple places during excavation, and none of my lights work now. Brian declined to repair the wiring, explaining that they had to "manipulate" the slope and that locating the wires would have been too difficult. He described it as an "easy fix." Maybe for him, but not for me. My electrician charges $225 per hour just for a service call. After several conversations with Brian, we reached an impasse. He maintained that the wiring repair was not his responsibility, so it will now fall on me to hire an electrician and absorb the cost. There is no language in the proposal stating that the contractor is not liable for damage to electrical components. However, the contract does state that "every effort is made to perform this work in a quality workmanlike manner." Given that, I expected the wiring to be repaired as part of good customer service. Two of my neighbors were waiting for my project to be completed so they could hire him next. After hearing about the unresolved wiring issue, they have decided to go with another contractor. For now, I'll be without landscape lighting until I can budget for the repair, which is disappointing after an otherwise solid project.

They removed the old roofing down to the plywood sheeting, removed any rotted or damaged wood, replaced it and painted it to match the existing facia. Then hauled all the debris away. Replaced the underlayment and put a brand new roof on. They were completely finished by Wednesday at 4 pm. They did a beautiful job. I would whole heartedly recommend this roofing company to anyone. Additionally my dog got put on the west deck by them with no water for the most bizarre of reasons on the hottest day of the year. Nothing short of a solid apology with a major discount for the damage would settle me which never occurred. I was threatened legally though. We experienced a toilet gone bad. It flooded the upstairs water closet and caused leakage through…read morethe floor to the first floor. Tom came by and quoted the job. This was an insurance issue. Tom can talk fast and he moved his equipment into the house before we decided to choose him or get a second opinion. In the end we chose him and have no reason to doubt his expertise on the removal of damaged flooring, drying of the house, etc. His workers were professional, efficient and took measures to make sure the house was kept neat. The reconstruction part of the process is a separate element and Tom was estimating general turnaround times of about 4 weeks. This was for about 2 sheets of drywall, paint, several hundred sq ft of flooring and a new toilet. In addition we were informed that all of the furniture in the effected areas would have to be removed from the house and stored, while work is done. That's rediculous and smacks of shadiness. I am not a contractor but I've seen an entire house re-carpeted in two days without a single possession being removed from the building, I've seen drywall done in a day. Needless to say we did not consult with Tom on the reconstruction element of the job. The cost would would be astronomical, the inconvenience and disruption unacceptable. My parents told me and I always tell those who will listen; MONEY DOESN'T GROW ON TREES. In conclusion, my rating would have been much higher if not for the rediculous reconstruction estimate.

I would like to start off this review by saying that Gerald is the absolute best person I have ever…read moreworked with on a project. That's saying a lot because my family moved into a brand new build back in 2017, so we have had many, many people come through for projects. What made my experience with Gerald so great was absolutely everything that matters. He was always on time, always responsive, always a perfectionist, and always pleasant (no matter how early in the morning or late in the evening he was working). I am known by those close to me as an extreme perfectionist. Gerald is the one person who absolutely never let me down with his work (although it could be more accurately described as art). I'm the type of person who if I see one thing that looks off, it will eat at me literally every time I pass through that room. Gerald installed tile and baseboards both inside and outside of my house and after walking through those areas countless times, I still have yet to see anything that doesn't look absolutely perfect. Aside from being an absolute master of his craft, Gerald is incredibly generous with his time. He treats every project as if the house he's working on is the house that his family comes home to everyday. For example, while I was doing a walk through with him after everything was wrapping up, I was ready to sign everything off and thank him for a job well done. Well, during the walk through, Gerald pointed out a couple of things that were bothering him and he vowed to come back the next day to fix them even though I didn't even notice anything was off. So, if I'm an extreme perfectionist, then I guess Gerald is in a class all by himself. Even after making those extremely detail oriented fixes, Gerald came back to patch things up on his own time and also to clean up the mess that some other installers left on their job. Specifically, they chipped a few of the baseboards that he installed and straight up took an entire corner piece off the wall. The look of horror on his face when he saw the damage they did to his perfectly installed baseboards said it all. The man looked like someone absolutely ripped his soul out. It really spoke to how seriously he takes his jobs and how much pride he takes in his work. I really wish this level of pride and passion were more prevalent in all people when it comes to their chosen professions. Overall, I could go on and on with reasons why you should go with this business and not even think twice. However, I will choose to end the review now and simply trust that my experience helped you in making your own decision. We work really hard to pay for our homes, so it's important that those we select to work on it, work equally hard.
