Nevertheless, I was admitted to the Garda Hq for my 'wrong doing'. When I first entered, I thought the lighting was somewhat gleaming and interrogative. Not exactly what anyone would consider an enjoyable atmosphere when trying to settle down and solve a debate between authority figure and rouge teen.. The cubical in which I was led to was cold and heartless with even more unreasonable lighting for our intended discussion. Also it seemed like one of them places where there were more staff members than customers as all I could see was a blur of uniforms and no other opportunist criminals willing to use this government provided service. Perhaps it was just a bad season for them. Left for an excruciatingly long time alone without my shoes, my server finally returned to discuss the matter in hand. It was settle there and then being put down to a communicational mishap and he was even so kind as to arrange my father to give me a lift home- something I have never experienced with any other restaurant or meeting place and an admirable attribution to Dundrum Garda Station. Nevertheless, they loose stars for punctually in solving petty differences. Reiterating, there are a number of Garda members that work at the station, perhaps a few too many considering the lack of crime in our humble community.. However, there are a couple of very butch but beautiful ladies I would consider returning to the station for pending future lighting renovations and atmospheric reconsideration. I do particularly like the uniforms but perhaps a more traditional whip and chains could replace the pepper spray and batons. Just a suggestion but I do believe it would help business.

The woman who answered the phone was very nice and concerned and said she would get someone to my house asap. The Garda car actually arrived at my front door within minutes, however I found them to be very unhelpful once they were inside. It was a male and female Garda and the male seemed to think I'd taken ages to report the crime. He wanted to know what was with the time delay! While I felt like they weren't taking me too seriously, they did take my details and phoned my mobile around an hour later to say they were sending a crime scene person to me that day to dust for prints etc. So all in all I felt like they did their job well. My intruder was never caught though!

Q wanders in, you know casually, trying not to look like a criminal... this should be easy... I…read moremean, I'm not actually a criminal in any way that matters (though I have been known to steal the odd glance at a pretty girl.... Oh god, even I thought that was awful) My driving licence has been liberated from my back pocket by some crazed protester who thinks they should be returned to the wild... or just stolen, I'm not sure which. The nice Garda gave me forms to fill in, patted me on the head and tells me not to keep valuables in my back pocket. I immediately removed the antique grandfather clock I had been keeping there and put it somewhere safe. For the law-abiding among you this is a nice place to go when you have to, for those who treat the law like a movable feast it's probably less fun if you end up there.

It is so atmospheric that it would put the fear a' jeebus into any 19th Century cape and monocle type villain. Check it out in my photo, it's amazing. Inside, it's tiny and far less interesting but it will serve to all your day-to-day law enforcement needs which, let's hope, aren't numerous.

Bearing that in mind, the Tax Office while busy is bright, airy and welcoming. If you want a face to face with those who can answer your income tax questions, then this is a one stop shop. If you want to catch up on some reading it's an ideal place for you also, as you could be waiting some time to be seen. That said, for civil servants who deal with the public, the staff are friendly and helpful.

When I got here the queue was all the way around the corner past Burger King already and it wasn't until nearly 11am that I got to talk to one of the guys to sort out my taxes. Oh how it has changed. Since the renovation, there is no counters downstairs anymore and instead there is a big self-service counter where you can fill in your forms and just drop them off. Upstairs is where you get to talk to one of the civil servants. As long as you avoid going to the tax office in the early morning and around lunchtime you can be in and out within 15 minutes- yes, that's happened to me a few times! The only downside is that the security guard won't let you wait with a cup of take-away coffee for security reasons.

So I asked them on behalf of Yelp what this place is like, they grimaced thinking of all the years they spent studying but the tortures of retention and repetition aside they had fond memories of the teaching staff. The facilities are very impressive too. All I can contribute independently to this review is that the building itself is a nice piece of architecture and surprisingly fits in very well next to the old Georgian buildings.

Apart from HSE and Citizen Info (and probably more that I just didn't see), it has a lovely little cafe, a good space for exhibitions and excellent meeting rooms. All state of the art I'd say. Not sure how to rent the space but if you've something to organise and Ballymun is not too far out for you: It'sdefinitely a brilliant space to have and use.
