I spent the last two days traveling around Dublin's Garda Stations in search of a lost phone I'd left behind in a taxi. There was little hope of getting it back, but with 200 quid's worth of tech and 15 quid's worth of polypropylene protective covering at stake, I was in no position to be shrugging my shoulders and lying down. I visited 5 Garda stations in total, hopping from Luas to bus to Luas and some. By the time I arrived in Dundrum Station I had been awake for 19 hours, my legs were begging me to faint, and the energy I'd acquired from my fruit bowl breakfast 16 hours earlier was quickly fading. By contrast, Dundrum Garda Station was full of energetic Gardai. They were all extremely attentive. I thought maybe my near-death constitution might be causing concern and alarm, but it wasn't just me being looked after. Each Garda that passed by the waiting room made sure that myself and the two anonymous citizens next to me were being looked after. All around me were smiles. One gentleman getting his passport stamped even engaged in some banter with the attending officer; both joking about the sudden appearance of a pen, to which neither claimed ownership -though both indicated a willingness to make a claim. I'm not sure what happened to that pen, but I do know that I was fortunate enough to get my phone back thanks to the help of the Gardai here. I give this station 4/5 thumbs-up (*as this is the 1st review I've posted I would like to hold off on the 5th thumbs up for the time being, but shall consider amending in the future). I'd also like to thank Mountjoy Garda Station who originally contacted the taxi driver. read more
