When the parcel arrived to its destination it was completely smashed and there were NO fragile stickers on the parcel. Might be the unfortunate place beside the long-closed hotel that sucks up most of the block. Or, it could be a result of that lengthy road works program that made most of this street off limits to pedestrians. Could be the tendency for shops along this stretch of the quays to shutter after a few months trade (or at least that's how it feels). But yet here it is, a place for your stamps, billpay and top ups right behind a very active bus stop and actually quite busy throughout the day. That'll teach me to judge a shop by it shutters.

A pleasant and convenient post office…read more It's easy to miss, though once you spot it you won't un-see the beckoning green. It's quiet a handy post-office, being so close to Four Courts. They provide all the postal services and even sell commission free Sterling and US Dollars at, seemingly, a mid-market rate. The staff is friendly and there's a small stand of greeting cards and envelopes you can purchase in a pinch. It is worth noting that you have to get your registered or swift post in by 5:15, so plan for that, but everything else seems to be grand until they close.

I have already reviewed one in Sandymount that doubles as a deli but I truly didn't expect to find one that also served as a toy shop - but that is exactly what the Nutgrove shopping centre post office does. Things are all fairly cheap playthings, disposable really, but when you have a grumbling 18 month old in the buggy and all you need is a 2Euro donkey to get you through the next 30 mins of shopping there's no where like it!

I didn't believe it when quentin wrote about the post office in nutgrove,it used to be in the…read moremiddle of the centre and did nothing more than what a post office should (or usually does) but he is right! in order to get to the post officey bit at the back you have to fight through the kids and toys to get to it. now its not like a smyths and you are unlikely to get any brand name toys in here, rather, you will find tacky tea sets and pink plastic crowns. or for the boys you could have some cow boy guns or a chunky bulldozer (wait, forget the boy girl divide bit there either type of kids could like any of the toys i mentioned! its almost 2010 for gods sake!) anyway, take this review as a warning if you need to go to the Post ofice and you have a kid in tow, you will need to bring a few extra euros so that you can buy whatever cheap toy grabs the attention of the child, very good marketing ploy from this shop!

Despite the shining modern spectacle of the neighboring Courts of Criminal Justice -freshly opened just across the street - the post office itself lends a feeling of timeless local life; stop in to buy stamps for a letter to Australia and end up chatting about the cousin in Perth who you hope to see in the new year. Lines get long on Wednesday afternoons -and be forewarned that this branch of An Post closes for lunch at 1pm on the button, opening again from 2.15pm till 5.30 with final mail pickup at 5.30. I mean, what can ya say…read more It's your typical Irish post office. Opens ridiculously inconvenient hours, but with a friendly attitude! The guys in here are normally pretty smiley and are a pleasure to deal with. There never seems to be too much of a queue, and if there is, it goes relatively quickly. It's a small post office so they're not massively stocked in envelopes and boxes and the likes, but they have the basic essentials there. One issue is parking - if you are driving, there's none around - you're better off going up to the Prussia St one as it's located within a Tesco, so you can park without fear of the dreaded clampage! They close from 1pm - 2.15pm every week day (I just don't understand why post offices do this - surely, surely they could stagger their lunches to enable people who work 9-5 to use their services?) Anyway, if you do work from 9-5, they do actually open for a half day on a Saturday til 1pm, so all is not lost. Unless you were out the night before... But hey, that's your problem!

This place got done up last year and hired some new staff. They're now open throughout lunchtime…read moreand normally have 2-3 staff members working here at any one time. Subsequently there never seems to be much of a queue which is great. The staff are extremely friendly and it's very handy being able to make bank lodgements via the post office. Big thumbs up
