Specialties
I've been doing custom portrait drawings and paintings on commission since 1991, and I love collaborating with my clients so they will get a portrait they are "wowed" by. My goal is to make the portrait look absolutely real and to create a unique work of art they can proudly hang in their home or give as a gift.
I stand behind all my artwork. It is guaranteed so that if my clients aren't 100% satisfied, I will rework it until they are, or give them a full refund. I don't have to do that often, but it gives my clients peace of mind knowing that they'll get the results they're after.
In addition to doing art on commission, I also do original portraiture/ inspirational artwork as well with many images available for sale as prints. Stop and visit sometime soon!
History
Established in 1991.
I started my fine art business in 1991, when at the age of 14, I did my first paid portrait commission for a friend of my mom's. I did several portraits after that, some for teachers in my school, their friends, and family friends.
Business wasn't always consistent for me, so I took several side jobs over the years (don't artists always do that?) but when a demanding full-time traveling sales/management job dominated my time in late 2008, I considered resigning. However, the decision was made for me, providentially, when the recession caused the company to downsize my position. This was a wake up call for me to get more serious about my art.
Since 2009, I have been doing art on a more full-time basis and exclusively full time since 2013, working out of my home studio. God has blessed me with more consistent commissions lately and I'm excited to be creating in an artist's guild studio space, Artisan Forge Studios of Eau Claire as of January 2016!
Meet the Business Owner: Matt P.
I was inspired to do artwork as a career during high school when my art teachers saw the work I did and really encouraged me. Even before that, my family gave me quite a bit of encouragement too.
I believe my talent is God given. I seek to glorify Him with it by using it to inspire and encourage others. Along the way, I picked up some skills during time spent learning a Renaissance acrylic glazing technique from an art instructor at UW-Green Bay.
I still use that vibrant technique of layering translucent color upon color today, and many have commented that it my paintings look like they were done in oil. In addition, I spent some time at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, learning various sketching techniques during life drawing classes.
I look forward to working with and creating with you!
